It is learned that 2 soldiers died and 2 soldiers got wounded due to an attack of Syrian Army to Turkish Armed Forces personnel in İdlib city of Syria on February 26, 2020.
(02/317) People Died in Van After Earthquake…
It is learned that Ercan Acar, a 14-year-old child who was injured in Van after the earthquake hit Iran on February 23, 2020, died in hospital on February 26, 2020. Thus, in total 10 people including 5 children, were killed by earthquake.
(02/318) Person Was Forced to be Police Informant in Diyarbakır…
It is learned from the news coverage of February 26, 2020 that, Pelda Sevim, a music teacher of a school in Bismil district of Diyarbakır, was called to Diyarbakır Directorate of National Education and was forced to be a police informant by 3 people who claim themselves to be police officers there.
Pelda Sevim held a press declaration at Human Rights Association (IHD) Diyarbakır branch and stated the following: “When I got to Diyarbakır Directorate of National Education, deputy director H. Ö. called me in his room, and said ‘Police officers are here to have a talk with you’. And right after that 3 police officers came in and started to interrogate me; they asked questions about my family and about an illegal organisation: ‘Are there anyone in your family from this organisation? Inform us in case you learn anything. You are just a candidate to be a teacher, will your contract be renewed?’ (…) I want Directorate of National Education and Ministry of National Education to initiate investigations. And I will make official complaints too.”

It is learned from the news coverage of February 26, 2020 that 25 prisoners who were transferred under coercion from Balıkesir Bandırma T Type Prisons No 1 and 2 to Afyon T Type Prison on February 16, 2020, and who were subjected to torture and ill-treatment, were still being kept in single cells.
It is learned from the news coverage of February 26, 2020 that the food given to prisoners in Elazığ Women’s Prison is not hygienic.

The police intervened the sit-in protest after press declaration of public labourers who had been dismissed by a state of emergency decree and have been struggling 1205 days to regain their jobs, in front of Human Rights Monument in Yüksel Street on February 26, 2020 at 13.00, and forced participants away from the monument.

5 people including members and executives of HDP and Democratic Regions Party (DBP) including former Kızıltepe co-mayor İsmail Asi who were detained in house raids in Mardin on February 21, 2020, are released by the court on December 26, 2020, provided that 4 of them (HDP provincial executives Hüsnü Acay, Şehmuz Aksoy and DBP Savur district co-chair Muzaffer Işık, former Mardin city council member Metin Kaya) are on judicial control conditions.

The trial of the case against Turgut Öker, honorary president of European Alevi Associations Confederation (AABK), on the grounds of ‘insulting the President’, is held at Istanbul Penal Court of First Instance No 25 on February 26, 2020. After defence hearings the court adjourned the trial to April 29, 2020.

On February 26, 2020, 23 people are detained in operations covering 13 cities through an Adana based investigation and 17 people are detained in Ankara for ‘using ByLock’.

Hakkari Governorate made a declaration on February 26, 2020, and announced 5 areas with given coordinates in central, Çukurca, Şemdinli, Yüksekova and Derecik districts as special security zones as of February 26, 2020 until March 11, 2020.
