(12/015) Curfew in Sur…
The curfew declared on 2 December 2015 in 6 quarters of the Sur district in Diyarbakır continued on 3 November 2015. This is the 6th curfew in the district.
Mehmet Demirel was shot to death by the police nearby the Dört Ayaklı Minare in Sur district where Tahir Elçi was killed. A person was reportedly wounded when the police opened fire against the group gathered on Dağkapı Square.

Anti-Terror branch conducted a house raid on 3 December 2015 in Sancaktepe district of İstanbul on the allegations that PKK militants were residing in the house. Dilan Kortak was shot to death and 3 persons were detained during the raid.

(12/018) Tahir Elçi Murdered…
The lawyers from Diyarbakır Bar association made an application with the Public Prosecutor in Diyarbakır demanding the footages of the killing of Tahir Elçi recorded by the police officers to be seized as evidences of the killing. It was revealed that there were 7 police officers on the street when Tahir Elçi was killed and 2 of them were recording the incident.

The curfew in the Derik district in Mardin which was declared on 26 November 2015 ended on 3 December 2015 after 8 days.

The curfew in the Abdülkadirpaşa, Fırat, Dicle and Yenişehir quarters of Nusaybin district in Mardin ended on 3 December 2015 after 5 days.

According to the official announcement, 8 militants were killed during the operations on 2 December 2015 in Derik district of Mardin after the end of the curfew.
(12/022) Uğur Kurt Case…
Çağlayan (İstanbul) Heavy Penal Court No 14 continued on 3 December 2015 to hear the case against the police officer Sezgin Korkmaz launched for killing Uğur Kurt in Şişli district of İstanbul.
The indictment wants the defendant to be sentenced to a term of imprisonment up to 25 years for “possible intentional killing”. After the presentations of the lawyers, the court rejected the arrest of the defendant and adjourned the hearing to 19 February 2016 to watch the footages of the incident.
On 22 May 2014, the police intervened a group of protesters in Okmeydanı quarter of Şişli district in İstanbul. Uğur Kurt who was in the garden of Djemevi for a funeral was shot at his throat during the intervention. He was hospitalised, but died in the hospital in the evening. The Forensic Institute issued a report certifying that the bullet which killed Uğur Kurt was fired from the weapon of the police officer Sezgin Korkmaz who was in charge at Anti-Terror branch.

T.M. (22) who was detained in Siverek district of Şanlıurfa announced on 3 December 2015 that s/he was subjected to torture in Siverek Security Directorate. S/he announced that s/he was assaulted, forced to listen nationalist songs, still stand, and watch videos of massacres of the IS/IS.

Çağlayan (İstanbul) Heavy Penal Court No 14 accepted the indictment against the co-managing-editors of the daily Özgür Gündem Eren Keskin and Hüseyin Aykol, and editor-in-chief of the paper Reyhan Çapan launched in connection with the headline “The palace went nuts” of the 8 September 2015 the issue of the paper. The indictment wants the defendants to be sentenced for “insulting State President” and “making propaganda of an illegal organisation”.
Çağlayan (İstanbul) Heavy Penal Court No 14 will start to hear the case.

Mount Ararat Student Association (Ağrı Dağı Öğrenci Derneği – ADÖ-DER) members Fırat Büyük, İdris Erbey and Ünal Adıgüzel who were detained during the protest against the killing of Tahir Elçi were arrested on 3 December 2015 on the allegations of “making propaganda of an illegal organisation”.

Eskişehir Juvenile Court No 1 started on 3 December 2015 to hear the case against remanded defendant Ö.A. (17) launched on the allegations of “breaking a police officer’s noise” during the demonstration staged in Eskişehir to protest Ankara massacre. Ö.A. was among 5 persons who were arrested during the police intervention.
After the identification and first testimonies of the defendant, the court rejected release demand and adjourned the hearing to 30 December 2015.

Ağrı Heavy Penal Court started on 3 December 2015 to hear the case against 9 members of the public servants unions’ confederation KESK launched in connection with a demonstration staged on 21 July 2015 in Ağrı to protest in the Suruç massacre. The indictment wants the defendants to be sentenced for “making propaganda of an illegal organisation”.
After the identification and first testimonies of the defendants, the court adjourned the hearing to 18 February 2016 for the completion of deficient documents.

The police conducted house raids on 3 December 2015 in Eriş district of Van in connection with the self-governance declaration in the district. KURDÎ-DER Erciş branch Co-Chair Şakir Asıl and Peoples’ Democratic Party (HDP) executive for the district Turgut Bayram were detained during the raids.

The police conducted raids against the houses of the members of Socialist Party of the Oppressed and Socialist Youth Association in connection with a “Marxist Leninist Communist Party (MLKP) Investigation”. At least 17 persons were reportedly detained during the raids.
