According to news reports published on 28 September 2026, it was learned that the release of Hüseyin Bilecan, an inmate held at Ankara Sincan No. 2 F-Type Prison who had served his life sentence in full, had been adjourned for three months by the Prison Administration and Observation Board (CİGK). Hüseyin Bilecan’s release had previously been adjourned three times.
According to press reports on 28 September 2026, it was learned that the release of Selim Acar, a prisoner held at Yozgat No. 2 T-Type Prison who had served his full life sentence, had been adjourned for six months by the Prison Administration and Observation Board (CİGK). On 27 September 2026, Fatih Ergin, a journalist who was detained as part of an investigation initiated by the Istanbul Silivri Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office on the grounds of a social media post regarding the death in prison of MİT officer Kaşif Kozinoğlu, was arrested on 28 September 2026 by the magistrates’ court to which he was referred, on charges of “publicly disseminating misleading information” and “committing a crime through the press and media”.

The indictment prepared by the Van Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office against JINNEWS News Director Öznur Değer, on the grounds of her news reports and social media posts, was accepted by the Van Heavy Penal Court No. 4 on 28 September 2026. The indictment seeks the prosecution of Öznur Değer on the charge of “systematically carrying out organisation propaganda”. The first hearing in the case will take place on 19 January 2027.
