(02/078) DEM Party Member Arrested Through an Istanbul Based Investigation..
Peoples’ Equality and Democracy Party (DEM Party) Youth Assembly member Elif Çoban, who was detained in Diyarbakır through an Istanbul based investigation, is arrested by the criminal court of peace on February 10, 2026.
(02/079) Journalist on Trial in Istanbul…
The trial of the case against journalist Ercüment Akdeniz through an investigation against Peoples’ Democratic Congress (HDK) continued on February 10, 2026 at Istanbul Heavy Penal Court No 26. The indictment demands sentence for Ercüment Akdeniz on the charge of ‘being an illegal organisation member’. The court decided to continue the judicial control measure of ban on leaving the country and adjourned the trial to June 2, 2026.
Ercüment Akdeniz was arrested on February 22, 2025 and was released on October 23, 2025.

The trial of the case against Karar reporter Feyza Nur Çalıkoğlu on the grounds of her news reports on torture and ill-treatment of migrants/refugees in removal centers continued on February 10, 2025 at Istanbul Penal Court of First Instance No 2.
The indictment demands sentence for the journalist on the charge of ‘publicly disseminating misleading information’.
The court adjourned the trial to February 26, 2026.

On February 10, 2026, it is learned from news coverage of February 10, 2026 that Istanbul Bakırköy Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office prepared an indictment on the grounds of a social media post made by journalist Alican Uludağ.
The indictment demands sentence for the journalist on the charge of ‘publicly disseminating misleading information’.

It is learned that journalist Alican Uludağ is subjected to 2 separate investigations on the grounds of his social media posts and that he gave his official statement through these investigations on February 10, 2026.

The indictment prepared by Antalya Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office against 41 people, including Antalya Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Muhittin Böcek, was accepted by Antalya Heavy Penal Court No 6 on February 10, 2026.
The indictment demands 41 people to be sentenced for ‘extortion’, ‘wrongful acquisition of property’, ‘influence peddling’, ‘laundering assets arising from crime’, ‘qualified fraud’, ‘slander’.
The first hearing of the case will be held on March 16, 2026.
Muhittin Böcek was arrested on July 5, 2026.

The trial of the case against police officers A.Ü., Ö.G. and S.T. for the death of 3.5 years old Tevriz Dora, who was shot in front of his house in Seyhan district of Adana on October 11, 2015 while he was in the arms of his mother Kamile Dora, due to being hit by a bullet in the head, during the protests for October 10 Ankara Massacre, continued on February 10, 2026 at Adana Heavy Penal Court No 4.
The indictment demands sentence for the police officers on the charges of ‘killing with probable intent’ and ‘injury’.
The court adjourned the trial to a later date.
(02/085) Police Officers on Trial in Istanbul…
The trial of the case against 2 police officers for the physical violence to which Yeni Yaşam newspaper distributor Hasan Ceylan was subjected, is held at Istanbul Penal Court of First Instance No 33 on February 10, 2026.
Hasan Ceylan made a statement at the hearing and described the physical violence he was subjected to: “The subway was in motion. I had an epileptic seizure and when I opened my eyes I realized that I was at the Gayrettepe stop. The security guards and police officers who came to the scene went through my personal bag. Then they took me to a security room. Here the police officers asked me ‘where did you get it from, where are you taking it’, referring to the Yeni Yaşam newspaper in my bag. For 1 hour and 45 minutes they swore at me and beat me. During the beating I was injured in my ears, I was beaten on my face and back, I was subjected to punches and kicks.”
The court adjourned the trial to April 30, 2026.

The trial of the case against 6 police officers, on torture and ill-treatment of 4 people detained on the ninth anniversary of Gezi Park protests, continued on February 10, 2026 at Istanbul Heavy Penal Court No 33.
During the hearing, İlayda Aktüre made a statement about the physical violence she was subjected to: “We were fingerprinted and body searched, then they took us upstairs saying that we were going to ‘meet our lawyers’. They took us to an administrative supervisor’s room. They closed the door and started physically attacking us. Lawyers from outside started banging on the door. After a while, a supervisor came in and scolded the police there, saying “Ali Rıza, this is not the place to do these things”. Then they took us downstairs to the holding cells. They beat us all in the body search booths and inside the booths.”
The court adjourned the trial to May 15, 2026.

The concert to be given by Polish black metal band Behemoth on February 11, 2026 at Istanbul Zorlu Performance Arts Center was banned by the decision of Beşiktaş District Governorate dated February 10, 2026 on the grounds that “the event is incompatible with social values”.

Beşiktaş District Governorate made a declaration on February 10, 2026 and banned concerts, festivals, collective and ticketed programs and other events to be held at Istanbul Zorlu Performing Arts Center for 2 days between February 10, 2026 and February 11, 2026.
