(11/097) Prisoners whose Release was Adjourned by the Prison Administration and Observation Board…
It is learned from the news coverage of November 12, 2025 that the release of Nurettin Ataman and Tuncay Doğan, 2 prisoners in Bolu F Type Prison, who completed their life sentences, was adjourned for 6 months by Prison Administration and Monitoring Board (CİGK). It is stated in the news reports that Nurettin Ataman’s release was adjourned 8 times and Tuncay Doğan’s release was adjourned 4 times.
It is learned from the news coverage of November 12, 2025 that, the release of Mehmet Emin Esen, a prisoner in Diyarbakır High Security Prison No 2, who completed the execution of his prison sentence on November 4, 2025, has been adjourned by CİGK for 6 months on the grounds of ‘not being in good behaviour’.

The final hearing of the case against journalist Rahime Karvar was held at Istanbul Heavy Penal Court No. 24 on November 13, 2025. The court sentenced Rahime Karvar to 2 years and 1 month on the charge of ‘aiding an illegal organization’ and ruled to lift the judicial control measures of leaving the province and signing the petition twice a week, and to continue the judicial control measure of ban on leaving the province.
Rahime Karvar was arrested on January 20, 2025 and was released on June 12, 2025.

The first trial of the case against journalist Sevda Perihan Erkılınç started on November 12, 2025 at Istanbul Heavy Penal Court No. 23. The indictment demands sentence for Sevda Perihan Erkılınç on the charge of ‘being an illegal organization member’. The court released Sevda Perihan Erkılınç on judicial control conditions with a ban on leaving the country and adjourned the trial.
Sevda Perihan Erkılınç was arrested on May 2, 2025.

The retrial of the case against Xwebûn newspaper writer Mehmet Şahin continued on November 13, 2025 at Diyarbakır Heavy Penal Court No 5. The indictment demands sentence for the journalist on the charge of ‘being an illegal organization member’. After defenses, the court ruled for the continuation of the judicial control measure of ban on leaving the country and adjourned the trial to February 17, 2026.
At the final hearing of the case against journalist Mehmet Şahin at Diyarbakır Heavy Penal Court No 5 on February 10, 2022, the court sentenced him to 6 years and 3 months on the charge of ‘being an illegal organisation member’, which was reversed by Criminal Chamber No 9 of Diyarbakır Regional Court of Appeals.

The trial of the case against journalist Sedef Kabaş, on the grounds of insulting the President in her social media posts, continued on November 13, 2023 at Istanbul Anadolu Penal Court of First Instance No 2. The court adjourned the trial to February 5, 2026.

On November 12, 2025, it is learned from news coverage of November 12, 2025 that Istanbul Public Prosecutor’s Office initiated an investigation against BirGün.net Managing Editor Sefer Selçuk Özbek, BirGün Newspaper Managing Editor Gökay Başcan and T24 Managing Editor Candan Yıldız, upon the complaint of the owner of the channel for their news reports on KRT TV.

The trial of the case against Ramazan Şimşek, on the grounds that he announced that Pine Café, which he owns, will serve only in Kurdish after 15 May Kurdish Language Day in 2024, continued on November 13, 2025 at Diyarbakır Heavy Penal Court No 5. The indictment demands sentence for Ramazan Şimşek on the charge of ‘making propaganda for an illegal organization’. The court adjourned the trial to February 17, 2026.
(11/104) Person on Trial in Istanbul…
The trial of the case against retired Colonel Orkun Özeller on the grounds of his remarks on Nationalist Movement Party (MHP) Chairman Devlet Bahçeli started on November 12, 20235 at Istanbul 8 Criminal Court of First Instance. The court acquitted Orkun Özeller on the charge of ‘inciting people to hatred and hostility’. The court sentenced Orkun Özeller to a judicial fine for ‘insult’ and deferred the announcement of the verdict. The court also ruled for the release of Orkun Özeller.
Orkun Özeller was arrested on September 17, 2025.
(11/105) Delal Gencer Case…
On November 12, 2025, the final hearing of the case against Hasan Kamış and Meryem Kamış on the racist attack on October 29, 2024, in which Delal Gencer lost her life and Vedat Gencer was wounded, was held at Ankara Polatlı Heavy Penal Court. The court sentenced Hasan Kamış to 11 years for ‘attempted intentional killing’ and life imprisonment for ‘intentional killing against a woman’ and acquitted Meryem Kamış on the charge of ‘instigation’.

It is learned that T24 reporter Can Öztürk, who was following the first hearing of the case brought on the grounds of retired Colonel Orkun Özeller, for his remarks on Nationalist Movement Party (MHP) chair Devlet Bahçeli, at Istanbul Penal Court of First Instance No 8 on November 12, 2025, was taken out of the courtroom by Zafer Party Vice Chairman.
(11/107) Detained People Through Izmir Based Investigation…
On November 11, 2025, 18 people were detained in operations covering 6 cities (Izmir, Istanbul, Ankara, Manisa, Bursa and Afyon) through an Izmir based investigation.
