(11/083) Soldiers Killed in Plane Crash in Georgia

The Ministry of Defense announced that 20 soldiers were killed when a cargo plane belonging to the Turkish Armed Forces (TAF) crashed in Georgia on November 11, 2025. The names of the dead soldiers are: Burak Özcan, Akın Karakuş, Cem Dolapçı, Ramazan Yağız, Ümit İnce, Emre Sayın, Ahmet Yasir Kuyucu, İlker Aykut, Emrah Kuran, Hamdi Armağan Kaplan, Nuri Özcan, Burak İbbiği, İlhan Ongan, Emre Altıok, Berkay Karaca, Cüneyt Kandemir, Emre Mercan, Gökhan Korkmaz, Nihat İlgen, Serdar Uslu.

(11/084) Person Subjected to Torture and Other Ill-Treatment…

On November 12, 2025, it is learned from news coverage of November 12, 2025 that Azerbaijani citizen Nanaxaanım Babazad, who was detained on the grounds of a protest at the university and then taken to Istanbul Çatalca Repatriation Center, was subjected to torture and ill-treatment during deportation procedures.

Nanaxaanım Babazad stated the following in her statement to the press “I thought I was going to meet the director but they took me directly to the exit room. Five gendarmes were lined up. That’s when I realized I was deported. They didn’t let me take my belongings, my psychiatric medication. They took me to the hospital and issued a medical report, then immediately transferred me to the airport (…) They said, ‘We will cover your hands and feet’. I thought it was reverse handcuffs, but they wrapped a black cloth around my whole body. The male gendarmerie tied the ropes tightly, I could only walk like a turtle. Then they asked, ‘Do you regret it? I said, ‘I don’t regret anything I did. They took out an apparatus like the one they put in dogs’ mouths and put it on my face. I couldn’t breathe, I had a panic attack. The female gendarme took it off at the last moment, but they put it on again in the car. They showed me to the other female migrants saying ‘This is what you will be like if you don’t go with what you want’. This was very humiliating.”

(11/085) Person Subjected to Torture and Ill-Treatment in Hakkari…

It is learned from news coverage of November 11, 2025 that, a person in Yüksekova district of Hakkari was subjected to physical violence of traffic police officers on the road and was detained for violating traffic rules. The name of the person could not be learned.

(11/086) Prisoners adjourned to release by Prison Administration and Observation Board…

It is learned from the news coverage of November 12, 2025 that, the release of Şükrü Baytar, a prisoner in Maraş L Type Prison No 2, who completed the execution of his prison sentence, was adjourned for 3 months by Prison Administration and Observation Board (CİGK) on the grounds of ‘lack of remorse’. It is stated in the news reports that Şükrü Baytar’s release was adjourned 2 times before.

(11/087) Detained Trade Union Member in Tokat…

It is learned that Buse Kara, BİRTEK-SEN workers’ representative at a factory in Tokat Organized Industrial Zone, was called to the police station on November 10, 2025 on the grounds of her social media posts; after statement procedures was kept in Security Directorate on the grounds that her statement will be taken by Anti-Terror Branch; and was released by the Penal Court of Peace on November 11, 2025 on judicial control conditions of house confinement and ban on leaving the country.

(11/088) Detained Trade Union Executive in Tokat

It is learned that BİRTEK-SEN organization specialist Deniz Kar, who was detained by the police using physical violence after the press declaration in Tokat on November 11, 2025, to protest the release of Buse Kara, BİRTEK-SEN worker representative at a factory in Tokat Organized Industrial Zone, on house confinement and a ban on leaving the country, was taken to Tokat Security Directorate for statement procedures and was released the same day after statement procedures.

(11/089) Person Arrested on the Grounds of Social Media Posts

Furkan Bölükbaşı, who was detained on November 11, 2025 on the grounds of his social media posts, is arrested by the criminal court of peace on the same day on the charges of ‘assassination and actual assault on the President’.

(11/090) Indictment Against Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality Mayor and Other People…

It is learned from news coverage of November 11, 2025 that Istanbul Public Prosecutor’s Office prepared an indictment against 402 people including Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu, 105 of whom are arrested.

The indictment demands Ekrem İmamoğlu to be sentenced for ‘establishing an organization to commit crime’ and various other crimes.

(10/091) Members and Executives of Parties and Associations and Other People on Trial in Istanbul…

The final trial of the case against 5 people including Socialist Youth Associations Federation (SGDF) FMC member Adnan Özcan and Socialist Party of the Oppressed (ESP) Sultangazi district co-chair Erol Tunç, is held at Istanbul Heavy Penal Court No. 13 on November 11, 2025.

The court sentenced Adnan Özcan, Bahadır Eren Çağırgan and Bekir Efe Cesur to 7 years and 6 months, Erol Tunç and Mazlum Ortaç to 6 years and 3 months each for ‘being an illegal organization member’. The court also released Bekir Efe, Adnan Özcan, Bahadır Eren Çağırgan with the verdict.

(11/092) Journalist on Trial in Istanbul

The trial of the lawsuit filed against journalist Furkan Karabay, on the grounds of 2 news reports and his social media posts about the news reports, with the complaint of Antalya Deputy Chief Public Prosecutor, demanding 150 thousand Turkish Liras compensation, continued on November 12, 2025 at Istanbul 12th Civil Court of First Instance. The court adjourned the trial to July 8, 2026.

(11/093) Writer on Trial in Istanbul

The final hearing of the case against writer Yavuz Ekinci was held on November 10, 2025, after the Istanbul Regional Court of Appeals overturned the ‘dismissal of the case’ verdict issued by the Istanbul Heavy Penal Court No. 23 on the grounds of his book ‘Rüyası Bölünenler’ published by Doğan Kitap in 2014. The court ruled to dismiss the case on the grounds of statute of limitations.

On March 14, 2023, Istanbul  Criminal Court of Peace No. 7 issued a ban on the printing, distribution and sale of the book and issued a recall order.

(11/094) Human Rights Defender on Trial in Muğla

The final hearing of the case against human rights and life defender Haluk Özsoy was held on November 12, 2025. The acquittal verdict of the case against Haluk Özsoy, on the grounds of the appeal by Izmir Regional Court of First Instance, was overturned and the case was held again on November 12, 2025. The court acquitted Haluk Özsoy on the charge of ‘publicly degrading the Government of the Republic of Turkey and the judicial organs of the State’ under Article 301 of the Turkish Penal Code (TCK).

The final hearing of the second case against Haluk Özsoy on the grounds of the text read during the Justice and Democracy March organized by the Forces of Labour and Democracy was held at Muğla Penal Court of First Instance No 6 on November 12, 2025. The court sentenced Haluk Özsoy to 5 months on the charge of ‘publicly degrading the Government of the Republic of Turkey and the judicial organs of the State’ under Article 301 of the Turkish Penal Code and deferred the announcement of the verdict.

(11/095) People on Trial in Ankara

On October 11, 2025, the trial of the case against 26 people who were detained due to torture and ill-treatment during the police intervention against a press declaration in Ankara about the accident in a mine in Amasra district of Bartın on October 14, 2022, in which 43 workers lost their lives and 9 workers were injured, is held at Ankara Penal Court of First Instance No 65. The indictment demands sentence for 26 people on the charge of ‘violating Law No 2911 on Meetings and Demonstrations’. The court adjourned the hearing to December 11, 2025.

(11/096) Access Ban on Social Media Accounts…

It is learned that the X social media account of Alevi News Network was banned to access on the grounds of national security and protection of public order by Ankara 11th Criminal Judicature of Peace on October 18, 2025 and the account was made invisible from Turkey.

On November 12, 2025, it is learned from the news coverage of November 12, 2025 that access to X social media account of a person named Furkan Bölükbaşı was banned. It is also stated in the news coverage that another X social media account of the same person had been blocked in August 2025.
