According to the statement made by Worker Health and Worker Safety Council (ISIG), at least 169 workers including 12 women, 8 children and 7 migrants/refugees lost their lives while working in October 2025.

On November 5, 2025, it is learned from news coverage of November 5, 2025 that, a person named H.Ç. was subjected to physical violence by gendarmerie during identity check in Başkale district of Van.
H.Ç. stated the following in his statement to the press “We had a hospital appointment. They searched us in two or three places from Gever to Elbak and asked for our ID cards. I objected saying ‘we were searched 100 meters ago’. Then they took me out of the vehicle. They took me to an area where there was no camera. They asked me to undress and when I didn’t, they beat me. 5 soldiers put me on the ground and handcuffed me. Then they took me inside (…) Then they let me go.”

On November 6, 2025 it is learned from news coverage of November 6, 2025 that a child prisoner in Ağrı Patnos L Type Prison was not allowed to go to the ward for political prisoners and was threatened by the prison director saying “If you do not stop I will take you to the men’s ward”.

Republican People’s Party (CHP) IT officer O.G.E. is detained through the investigation initiated by Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office on November 6, 2025, on the allegations of ‘unlawful transfer or seizure of personal data’ and ‘recording of personal data’.

It is learned that Istanbul Public Prosecutor’s Office initiated an investigation against CHP Chairman and Manisa MP Özgür Özel on the same day, on the grounds of his speech at his party’s rally in Ümraniye district of Istanbul on November 5, 2025, for ‘insulting the President’ and ‘insulting a public officer for his duty’.

The final hearing of the case against journalist Sedef Kabaş on the grounds of a social media post about the Central Bank Governor was held on November 4, 2025 at Istanbul Criminal Court of First Instance No 45. The court sentenced the journalist to 10 months on the charge of ‘publicly disseminating misleading information’ and deferred the announcement of the verdict.

The final hearing of the lawsuit filed on the grounds of BirGün reporter İsmail Arı’s news report titled ‘beating bureaucrat to be tried’ was held at Istanbul Penal Court of First Instance No 2 on November 4, 2025. The court acquitted the journalist on the charge of ‘insulting a public officer for his duty’.

The trial of the case against Dinçer Gökçe, Managing Editor of halktv.com.tr, Nilay Can, Managing Editor of gazetepencere.com, journalist Veysi Dündar, lawyer İrem Çiçek, and 1 unidentified person, on the grounds of the news article titled “The prosecutor who broke down the Yenidoğan gang was dismissed from duty” and social media posts related to this news article, continued on November 5, 2025 at Istanbul Bakırköy Criminal Court of First Instance No 2.. The indictment demands sentence for 5 people on the charge of ‘publicly spreading misleading information’. The court adjourned the trial to January 8, 2026.

The trial of the case against journalist Hakkı Boltan on the charge of ‘insulting the President’ is held at Diyarbakır Penal Court of First Instance No 12 on November 6, 2025. The court adjourned the trial to January 6, 2026.

It is learned that Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office initiated an investigation against 6 journalists (Soner Yalçın, Şaban Sevinç, Aslı Aydıntaşbaş, Ruşen Çakır, Yavuz Oğhan and Batuhan Çolak) through the investigation against Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality. It is learned that journalists Soner Yalçın, Şaban Sevinç, Yavuz Oğhan, Ruşen Çakır and Batuhan Çolak were taken to Istanbul Provincial Security Directorate by the police to take their statements without a detention warrant. It is reported that journalists were banned from leaving the country and their cell phones were seized.

The retrial of the case against publisher Azad Zal, on the charge of ‘being an illegal organisation member’ through the investigation against Democratic Society Congress (DTK) at Diyarbakır Heavy Penal Court No 8, continued on November 5, 2025. The court adjourned the trial to January 26, 2026.
Azad Zal was arrested after being detained on June 26, 2020 and was released on July 18, 2020 upon appeal of his lawyers.

On November 4, 2024, it is learned from the news coverage of November 4, 2024 that Istanbul Public Prosecutor’s Office prepared an indictment against cartoonist Doğan Pehlevan on the grounds of his social media posts. The indictment demands sentence for Doğan Pehlevan on the charge of ‘insulting the President’.

On November 5, 2025, the first trial of the case against İleri Devrim Yurtsever, Limter-İş organizing specialist who was detained and arrested before May 1 Workers’ Day, started at Istanbul Heavy Penal Court No 26. The court released İleri Devrim Yurtsever and adjourned the trial to February 18, 2025.

The first trial of the case against 20 people including 3 arrestees, on the grounds of their social media posts regarding the appointment of a trustee to CHP Istanbul Provincial Directorate, started on November 5, 2025 at Istanbul Penal Court of First Instance No 9. The indictment demands sentence for 20 people on the charge of ‘public incitement to commit crime’. The court released Nur Betül Aras, Ömer Faruk Mangaltepe, Abdullah Esin on judicial control conditions with a ban on leaving the country, lifted judicial control measures for other defendants, and adjourned the trial to January 28, 2026.
