(10/195) Migrants/Refugees Died in Muğla…

On October 24, 2025, a boat carrying refugees/migrants sank off the coast of Bodrum district of Muğla. It is learned that the death toll increased to 18 as of October 28, 2025.

(10/196) Journalist Assaulted in Istanbul…

It is learned from news coverage of October 29, 2025 that journalist Ezgi Sosyal was attacked by her neighbours on the street of her house in Ataşehir district of Istanbul and was injured in various parts of her body.

Ezgi Soysal stated the following in her statement to the press “Yesterday, on October 28th, as I was entering my street to come to my house, a person from my right side suddenly came out from behind a car (…) I continued walking. But one of them suddenly came out of the intersection. Again he cursed me unspeakably. While I was trying to continue my way for a few more steps, he attacked me from behind with my back turned and I fell to the ground. While I was on the ground, I was beaten and there was a mutual struggle. After a while, people who I knew to be relatives of the person who attacked me came down (…) They kicked me especially in the head and body with the intention of killing me. There were also men among those who did this.

(10/197) Torture and Ill-Treatment in Prison…

On October 30, 2025 it is learned from news coverage of October 30, 2025 that the photograph of Ceylan Önkol, who was killed by a mortar shell fired from a gendarmerie post in Lice district of Diyarbakır on October 28, 2009 while she was grazing her animals, sent to Ferhat Önkol, a prisoner in Konya Ereğli High Security Prison, was not given by the prison administration on the grounds that it was “objectionable”.

(10/198) Prisoners on Hunger Strike in Prisons…

It is learned from the news coverage of October 29, 2025 that 15 prisoners are on hunger strike across Turkey demanding the closure of Y, S and High Security type prisons called “well-type”.

Prisoners on hunger strike are: Serkan Onur Yılmaz (353 days), Ayberk Demirdöğen (233 days), Fikret Akar (215 days), Ümit Çobanoğlu (153 days), Berkin Berberoğlu (139 days), Fırat Kaya (95 days), Gürkan Türkoğlu (93 days), Ali Dilmen (82 days), Hüseyin Özan (72 days), Cemil Kurt (35 days), Ulaş İnci (20 days), Doğan Karataştan (15 days), Ahmet Arslan (15 days), Nazım Şafak Korkmaz (10 days).

(10/199) Racist Attack in Ankara…

On October 27, 2025, at least 2 people are wounded in an attack of a racist group at Hacettepe University in Ankara. It is learned that the police intervened the attacked group and detained 6 people.

The police intervened the people gathered in front of the hospital where injured students were being treated and detained 22 more people.

All 28 detainees are released on October 28, 2028, 23 of them after statement procedures at the police, 3 of them after statement procedures at the criminal court of peace and 2 of them on judicial control conditions.

(10/200) Police Intervention to a Protest in Ankara…

On October 29, 2025, the police intervened the press declaration about hunger strikes in prisons in Yüksel Street in Çankaya district of Ankara and detained 16 people by using physical violence and handcuffing them behind their backs. It is learned that Ferdi Sarıkaya’s rib was broken during the intervention. Detained people were released the same day after statement procedures at the police.

(10/201) Police Intervention to a Protest in Mersin…

On October 28, 2025, the police intervened the protest in Mersin against the 11th Judicial Package, which includes discriminatory regulations against LGBTI+’s, on the grounds of rainbow flags. It is learned that 1 person was detained during the intervention and was released before being taken to the police station.

(10/202) Journalist Detained in Tunceli While Covering News…

It is learned that Gazete Patika reporter Hıdır Yıldız was detained on October 28, 2025 in Tunceli, while he was taking footage of police officers intervening in a fight at a concert in Tunceli, and that his footage was forcibly deleted and he was released the same day after statement procedures at the police.

(10/203) Detained Former Mayor in Antalya

Mustafa Gül, former mayor of Kemer district of Antalya, was detained on October 29, 2025 due to ‘influence peddling’ and ‘fraud’.

(10/204) Political Party Members Detained in Istanbul and Antalya…

On October 28, 2025, 9 members of Socialist Party of the Oppressed (ESP) are detained in house raids in Istanbul. The names of the detainees are as follows: Sinan Akkuş, Gökhan Atan, Mahsuni Yılmaz, Ahmet Eten, Mustafa Taylan Savran, Tuncay Mat, Mustafa Tezel, Serhat Bulgurcu.

6 ESP members were detained in house raids in Antalya on October 28, 2025. The names of the detainees are: Pervin Şahin, Ali Çiftçi, Songül Şarklı, İkbal Cantaş, Cuma Tokgöz and Cem Özen.

(10/205) Theater Artist Arrested in Istanbul…

It is learned that theatre actress Eda Saraç was detained in handcuffs behind her back on October 25, 2025 in Beyoğlu district of Istanbul, on the grounds of objecting to the barriers set for the President’s motorcade to pass through, and was arrested by the criminal court of peace on October 27, 2025 on the charge of ‘insulting the President’.

(10/207) Detained People in Antalya…

Through an investigation against the municipality in Manavgat district of Antalya, 24 people including former municipality executives are detained on October 28, 2025 on the allegations of ‘bribery’, embezzlement’ and ‘bid rigging’.

(10/208) Indictment Prepared Against Journalist…

It is learned that the indictment prepared by Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office against Cumhuriyet Newspaper News Director Can Uğur for his news report titled “Was the fate of 1 million students played with? LGS questions were allegedly shared on WhatsApp group before the end of the exam”, the indictment prepared by Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office upon the complaint of Ministry of National Education, is accepted by Istanbul Penal Court of First Instance No 2. The indictment demands sentence for the journalist on the charge of ‘publicly disseminating misleading information’. The first hearing of the case will be held on January 13, 2025.

(10/209) Political Party Executive on Trial in Mersin…

The final hearing of the case against Reşat Aşan, Mersin provincial co-chair of Peoples’ Equality and Democracy Party (DEM Party), through the investigation against Ahmet Özer, mayor of Esenyurt district of Istanbul, who was replaced by a trustee, was held at Mersin Heavy Penal Court No 6 on October 30, 2025. The court acquitted Reşat Aşan on the charge of ‘being an illegal organization member’.

(10/210) Indictment Prepared Against People in Istanbul

It is learned from the news coverage of October 30, 2025 that, Istanbul Penal Court of First Instance No 29 accepted the indictment prepared by Istanbul Public Prosecutor’s Office against 168 people who were detained during police interventions to protests in Istanbul on November 25, 2024, within the scope of ‘International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women’. The indictment demands 168 people to be sentenced for ‘violating Law No. 2911 on Meetings and Demonstrations’ and 7 people to be sentenced for ‘resisting the police’.

(10/211) Provinces where Protests and Events are Banned…

Before the protest on October 28, 2025 about the 11th Judicial Package, which includes discriminatory regulations against LGBTI+’s, Governorate of Çanakkale made a declaration on October 27, 2025 and announced that all open and closed meetings, marches, press declarations, sit-ins, sit-ins, opening stands/tents, distributing leaflets, hanging banners/posters, protests, picnics/festivals, film screenings and similar actions and events under the name of LGBTI+ are banned for 2 days.

(10/212) Detained People in Istanbul Based Investigation…

On October 28, 2025, 22 people were detained in operations conducted in 11 cities (Istanbul, Ankara, Elazığ, Gaziantep, Giresun, Kahramanmaraş, Kocaeli, Manisa, Mersin, Tekirdağ and Trabzon) through an Istanbul based investigation on the grounds of having Bank Asya accounts and using the secret communication method of the terrorist organization.
