In a statement made on October 18, 2025, the Ministry of National Defense announced that a soldier (Eyüp Güner) serving in Tokat fell ill during training and was taken to the hospital, where he lost his life on October 17, 2025.

According to news reports on October 17, 2025, it was learned that Çetin Tutkun, an inmate held at the Tekirdağ Karatepe High Security Prison, was subjected to physical violence by gendarmes in the hospital environment and injured in various parts of his body because he refused to undergo a handcuffed examination at the Çorlu State Hospital, where he was transferred. The news reports stated that Tutkun was transferred to the Forensic Medicine Institute (ATK) four days later.
(10/124) Prisoners Whose Release Was Adjourned by the Prison Administration and Observation Board…
According to news reports on October 17, 2025, the release of Ardıl Çeşme, an inmate held in Erzincan Women’s Prison who had served his life sentence, was adjourned for a third time for six months by a decision of the Prison Administration and Observation Board (CİGK) on the grounds that he still had ties to the organization. The news also stated that the release of another prisoner, whose name was not disclosed, held in the same prison, was adjourned by the CİGK decision.
According to news reports on October 19, 2025, the release of Cemil İvrendi, an inmate held at Kırşehir Type S Prison who had completed his life sentence, was adjourned for a third time for six months by a CİGK decision on the grounds that he had not severed his ties with the organization.

On October 17, 2025, police intervened in a protest at Hacettepe University in Ankara against increases in cafeteria fees and discriminatory regulations targeting LGBT+ individuals in the 11th Judicial Package, detaining 38 people using physical violence. Thirty of those detained were released the same day after giving statements to the police, while eight were released on October 18, 2025, after giving statements to the prosecutor’s office.

On October 14, 2025, 6 people were detained on bribery charges as part of an investigation into the Antalya Metropolitan Municipality. On October 17, 2025, 3 of them were arrested by the magistrate’s court to which they were referred. 3 people were released, 1 of them under judicial control.

The final hearing of the case against Berdan Öztürk, Diyarbakır MP for the Peoples’ Equality and Democracy Party (DEM Party), was held at the Ağrı Heavy Penal Court No. 1 on October 17, 2025. The court sentenced Berdan Öztürk to a total of 6 years and 4 months in prison for “making organization propaganda” and “aiding the organization.”

The final hearing of the case against Mümin Erol, Co-Mayor of Tatvan district in Bitlis, who was accused of removing the President’s photo hanging in his office, was held on October 17, 2025, at the Bitlis Tatvan Criminal Court of First Instance No. 3. The court acquitted Mümin Erol of the charge of “insulting the President.”

The final hearing of the case against 10 people, including Ağrı Municipal Council Member Şakir Kılıç, opened at the Ağrı Heavy Penal Court 1 was held on October 17, 2025. The indictment sought punishment for the 10 individuals on charges of “being a member of an organization,” “aiding an organization,” “spreading propaganda for an organization,” and “violence and coercion.”
The court sentenced Şakir Kılıç to a total of 44 years, Engin Dursun to 24 years, Figen Aslan and Ramazan Bayram to 18 years, Mehmet İzci to 11 years and 9 months, Yılmaz Dursun to 8 years and 9 months, Şakir Çaçan to 7 years and 6 months, and Murat Karagül and Serkan Yazıcı to 6 years and 3 months in prison. The court also issued arrest warrants for Şakir Kılıç, Şakir Çapan, Yılmaz Dursun, Mehmet İzci, Ramazan Bayram, Figen Aslan, and Engin Dursun along with the verdict.
(10/130) Persons on Trial in Istanbul…
The trial of 33 people at the Istanbul Criminal Court of First Instance No. 50, who were charged with participating in protests held at Saraçhane Square in the Fatih district of Istanbul to protest the arrest and detention of Istanbul Metropolitan Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu, continued on October 17, 2025. The indictment seeks to punish the defendants for “violating Law No. 2911 on Meetings and Demonstrations.” The court adjourned the hearing until December 27, 2025.
