It has been learned that Nafiz Koca, President of the Elazığ Press and Media Association and owner of Günışığı Newspaper, was injured in an armed attack in front of his newspaper’s office in Elazığ on October 14, 2025, and was taken to Fırat University Hospital.

According to news reports on October 15, 2025, following the death of journalist Hakan Tosun in an attack, Halk TV reporter Umut Taştan was threatened in the Esenyurt district of Istanbul, where the incident took place, by relatives of a person detained in connection with the journalist’s death.

İhlas News Agency (İHA) Iğdır correspondent Sebahattin Yum was detained on October 14, 2025, on charges of “publicly disseminating misleading information” based on his news story titled “There are umbrellas for the governor, but not for veterans” about a ceremony in the city. He was released after giving a statement to the police.
On October 15, 2025, it was learned from news reports that Ercan Tunç, President of the Iğdır Working Journalists Association, was detained in front of the Iğdır Police Headquarters while following up on news related to Sebahattin Yum’s detention.

The trial of Nurullah Efe, Chairman of the People’s Liberation Party (HKP), which was opened at the Ankara 32nd Criminal Court of First Instance, continued on October 14, 2025. The indictment seeks punishment for Nurullah Efe on charges of “insulting the President.” The court adjourned the hearing until January 20, 2025.

According to news reports on October 14, 2025, an indictment was prepared by the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office, citing protests held at the Istanbul Çağlayan Courthouse against the detentions carried out as part of an investigation targeting the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (İBB) concerning the Deputy Mayor of the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality, Nuri Aslan. The indictment seeks punishment for Nuri Aslan on charges of “resisting the performance of duty.”

The trial of six people detained as a result of police intervention at an event organized by the Turkish Workers’ Party (TİP) in Gülhane Park in the Fatih district of Istanbul on April 10, 2025, continued on October 14, 2025, at the Istanbul Criminal Court of First Instance No. 30. The indictment seeks punishment for the six individuals for “violating Law No. 2911 on Meetings and Demonstrations.” The court adjourned the hearing until November 27, 2025.

The trial of eight individuals, including Adnan Özcan, a member of the Socialist Youth Associations Federation (SGDF) Executive Board, and Erol Tunç, co-chair of the Oppressed People’s Socialist Party (ESP) Sultangazi District, continued on September 10, 2025, at the Istanbul Heavy Penal Court No. 13. The indictment seeks punishment for the eight individuals on charges of ‘being a member of an organization.’ The court ruled to continue the detention of Adnan Özcan, Bahadır Çağırgan, and Bekir Efe Cesur and adjourned the hearing to October 15, 2025.

According to news reports on October 14, 2025, regarding statements made by Mahmut Tanal, Urfa Deputy of the Republican People’s Party (CHP), about Agricultural Credit Cooperatives, https://halktv.com.tr/, https://t24.com.tr/ and https://www.urfanatik.com/, were blocked pursuant to Article 8/A of Law No. 5651 on the grounds of protecting national security and public order.

On October 15, 2025, as part of an investigation centered in Samsun, 7 individuals were detained in operations conducted in 7 provinces (Samsun, Ankara, Istanbul, Adana, Gaziantep, Şırnak, and Sivas) on the grounds that they were members of the organization’s secret structure and that their names appeared in Bank Asya account transactions and ByLock user message content.
