(10/038) Prisoner Who Lost His Life in Prison…
According to news reports on October 7, 2025, it was learned that a sick prisoner named Abdülkadir Tatlı lost his life in Kırıkkale Type F Prison. The reports claim that Abdülkadir Tatlı, who was held alone in a cell, committed suicide.

News reports on October 6, 2025, stated that Abdullah Güven, an inmate held at Antalya High Security Prison, was returned to prison without receiving treatment because he refused to undergo a medical examination while handcuffed.
(10/040) Police Intervention in Van Protest…
It was learned that workers dismissed by the trustee appointed to the Van Metropolitan Municipality were not given permission by the police to march in Van on October 7, 2025, and that the workers made a press statement after being blocked by the police.
(10/041) Intervention Against Those Putting Up Posters in Elazığ…
It was learned that Elazığ Municipality officials intervened against members of the Furkan Foundation who were putting up posters for a conference to be held in Elazığ by the foundation. After the intervention, it was reported that two people who put up posters were each fined 10,000 TL.
(10/042) Former Member of Parliament Detained…
Hüseyin Kocabıyık, former İzmir Member of Parliament for the Justice and Development Party (AKP), was detained in Ankara on October 7, 2025, on charges of “insulting the President.” Hüseyin Kocabıyık was arrested by the magistrate’s court to which he was referred on the same day.

The trial of human rights defender Nimet Tanrıkulu, which began at the Istanbul Heavy Penal Court No 24, continued on October 7, 2025. The indictment seeks punishment for Nimet Tanrıkulu on charges of “being a member of an organization.” The court decided to continue the judicial control measures against Nimet Tanrıkulu and adjourned the hearing to January 15, 2026.
Nimet Tanrıkulu, who was detained in Istanbul on November 26, 2024, and arrested in Ankara on November 29, 2024, was released at the hearing of the case on March 4, 2025.
(10/044) Trial of Journalist in Diyarbakır…
The trial of journalist Nurcan Yalçın, which began at the Diyarbakır Heavy Penal Court No. 9, continued on October 7, 2025. The indictment seeks to punish the journalist for the crimes of “being a member of an organization” and “making organization propaganda.” The court, continuing the judicial control measure prohibiting Nurcan Yalçın from leaving the country, adjourned the hearing to March 3, 2026.

It was learned that an investigation was launched against journalist Mehmet Aslan by the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office based on the testimony of a confidential witness and that the journalist gave his statement on October 7, 2025, as part of the investigation.

The trial of Bolu Mayor Tanju Özcan, initiated at the Bolu Criminal Court of First Instance No. 6 on the grounds of certain decisions he made regarding refugees/migrants living in Bolu, continued on September 30, 2025. The indictment seeks to punish Tanju Özcan for the crime of ‘hate and discrimination’. The court adjourned the hearing until April 26, 2026.
(10/047) Indictment Prepared Against Music Group Members…
On October 6, 2025, it was learned that the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office had prepared an indictment against six members of the Manifest music group and one other person in connection with a concert held at Istanbul Küçükçiftlik Park on September 6, 2025, which had an age limit of 18. The indictment seeks punishment for seven individuals for the crimes of “indecent behavior” and “exhibitionism.”
(10/048) Social Media Account Blocked…
On October 7, 2025, news reports indicated that a social media account belonging to a trans woman named Mükremin Gezgin had been blocked and made invisible from Turkey.
