(10/021) Male Violence Monitoring Report…

According to Bianet’s “Male Violence Register,” at least 24 women and 9 children were killed by men across Turkey in September 2025. The statement also noted that men committed violence against at least 71 women, harassed 10 women, abused 8 children, and forced 8 women into sex work.

(10/022) Police Intervention in Ankara Protest…

Police intervened in a protest held by the Ankara Labor and Democracy Forces on October 2, 2025, in the Çankaya district of Ankara against Israel’s intervention against the Global Sumud Fleet carrying humanitarian aid to Gaza, detaining 20 people using physical violence.

(10/023) Individuals Detained for Participating in a Press Conference…

On September 29, 2025, university student Kasım Bulgan died of a heart attack after showering with cold water due to a lack of hot water in his dormitory in Osmaniye. On October 2, 2025, police intervened against students who wanted to make a press statement in front of the Provincial Directorate of Youth and Sports to protest this incident and detained 12 people.

(10/024) Writer Arrested in Aydın…

On October 2, 2025, writer Ergün Poyraz was detained at his home in the Koçarlı district of Aydın for sharing photos of Aydın Metropolitan Mayor Özlem Çerçioğlu’s house on social media. He was detained the same day and sent to a magistrate’s court, where he was arrested.

(10/025) Person Arrested in Antalya…

On October 1, 2023, a person named M.Ü. was detained in the Alanya district of Antalya on allegations of insulting the President. On October 2, 2025, he was arrested by the magistrate’s court to which he was referred.

(10/026) Trial of Journalist in Istanbul…

The trial of journalist Fatih Altaylı, who was charged for comments he made during a social media broadcast, began on October 3, 2025, at the Istanbul Heavy Penal Court  No. 26. The indictment seeks to punish Fatih Altaylı for the crime of “threatening the President.” The court decided to continue Fatih Altaylı’s detention and adjourned the hearing until November 26, 2025.

(10/027) Person on Trial in Istanbul…

The trial of Bekir Aslan, accused of insulting the President in social media posts, commenced on October 3, 2025, at the Istanbul Criminal Court of First Instance No. 18. The court decided to release Bekir Aslan and adjourned the hearing to January 9, 2026.

Bekir Aslan had been detained on July 9, 2025.

(10/028) Persons on Trial in Istanbul…

The trial of Boğaç Soydemir, host of the program “Soğuk Savaş” (Cold War) broadcast on YouTube, and guest Enes Akgündüz, on charges of insulting the President in a joke made on the program, commenced on October 1, 2025, at the Istanbul Criminal Court of First Instance No. 43. The indictment seeks the punishment of Boğaç Soydemir and Enes Akgündüz for the crime of “openly inciting the public to hatred and hostility through the press and media.” The court decided to continue the detention of the two individuals and adjourned the hearing to October 24, 2025. Boğaç Soydemir and Enes Akgündüz were arrested on September 23, 2025.

(10/029) Person on Trial in Istanbul…

The prosecutor’s appeal against the release of manager Ayşe Barım, who was tried at the Istanbul Heavy Penal Court No. 26 on the grounds that she participated in the Gezi Protests with artists affiliated with her agency in 2013, was rejected by the Heavy Penal Court No. 26 at the hearing held on October 1, 2025. On October 2, 2025, the Heavy Penal Court No. 27, acting as the higher court, reviewed the decision and accepted the prosecutor’s appeal, ordering Ayşe Barım to be re-arrested.

(10/030) Indictment Prepared Against Musician…

According to news reports on October 3, 2025, the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office prepared an indictment against musician Mabel Matiz based on the lyrics of his song “Perperişan.” The indictment seeks to punish Mabel Matiz for the crime of “facilitating the publication of obscene publications.”

(10/031) Lawsuit Filed Regarding the CHP Istanbul Congress…

The trial of the case filed at the Istanbul 45th Civil Court of First Instance regarding the cancellation of the Republican People’s Party (CHP) Istanbul provincial congress held on October 8, 2023, continued on October 3, 2025. The court ruled that the trustee committee appointed to the CHP provincial administration should continue its duties and adjourned the hearing to November 21, 2025.
