It is learned that Mevlüt Oruç, spokesperson of Samandağ Ecology Group, who is struggling against the concrete plant in Samandağ district of Hatay, was attacked by a group allegedly including the owner of the plant, who cut in front of the car he was in on September 18, 2025.

On September 19, 2025, it is learned that the building of Gökçeyazı Turkmen Mountain Environment Protection and Solidarity Association was attacked with stones in Balıkesir. It is reported that no one was killed or wounded in the attack.
(09/161) Police Intervention to Journalists Following News in Mersin…
On September 18, 2025, it is learned that the police intervened Jinnews reporter Azize Akoğlu, Mezopotamya News Agency reporters Kadir Ayten and Hamdullah Yağız Kesen, Mezopotamya News Agency reporters Kadir Ayten and Hamdullah Yağız Kesen and PİRHA reporter Fatoş Sarıkaya who were following a march for the right to hope in Mersin, by using physical violence.

Ahmet Sungur, Justice and Development Party (AKP) elected mayor of Yahşihan district of Kırıkkale, was detained on September 19, 2025 due to ‘extortion’ allegations. It is reported that 6 more people including municipality executives are detained through the same investigation.

The trial of the case against ETHA reporter Züleyha Müldür, Socialist Women Assemblies (SKM) member Ezgi Gürbüz, Socialist Youth Associations Federation (SGDF) FMC member Simay Ada Kart, continued on September 18, 2025 at Istanbul Heavy Penal Court No 14.
The indictment demands sentence for 3 people on the charges of ‘being an illegal organisation member’ and ‘making propaganda for an illegal organisation’.
The court released Ezgi Gürbüz and Simay Ada Kart on house confinement, decided to continue judicial control conditions on Züleyha Müldür and adjourned the trial to February 26, 2026.
Züleyha Müldür, Ezgi Gürbüz and Simay Ada Kart were arrested on January 25, 2025. Züleyha Müldür was released at the hearing of the case held on June 25, 2025.
(09/164) Journalists and People on Trial in Istanbul…
The trial of the case against 35 people including journalist Engin Deniz İpek, for the protests on July 1, 2025 at Saraçhane Square in Fatih district of Istanbul, on the 100th day of the arrest of Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality Mayor, continued on September 11, 2024 at Istanbul Heavy Penal Court No 4.
The indictment demands sentence for 35 people on the charges of ‘violating Law No 2911 on Meetings and Demonstrations’ and ‘insulting the President’.
The court decided to lift judicial control measures on 35 people and rejected the demand for filing a criminal complaint on police violence during the intervention and adjourned the trial to February 25, 2026.

The final hearing of the case against journalist Ece Üner was held at the Criminal Court of First Instance No 18 on September 19, 2025. The court acquitted Ece Üner on the charges of ‘publicly degrading the judicial organs of the state’ and ‘attempting to influence a fair trial’.

The indictment prepared by Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office against arrested journalist Furkan Karabay for his statements and social media posts was accepted by Istanbul Heavy Penal Court No 25 on September 18, 2025. The court also ruled for Furkan Karabay’s continued detention.
The indictment demands Furkan Karabay to be sentenced for ‘insulting the President’ and ‘targeting people who took part in the fight against terrorism’. The first hearing of the case will be held on December 2, 2025.
Furkan Karabay was arrested on May 15, 2025.

The trial of the case against 10 people including 2 deputy mayors and 7 city council members (Kartal Deputy Mayor Cemalettin Yüksel, Ataşehir Deputy Mayor Livan Gür, Üsküdar City Council Member Bülent Kaygun, Sancaktepe City Council Member Elif Gül, Fatih City Council Member Güzin Alparslan, Tuzla City Council Member Hasan Özdemir, Adalar City Council Member Nesimi Aday, Şişli City Council Member Sinan Gür, Beyoğlu City Council Member Turabi Şen and a person named İkbal Polat) continued on September 18, 2025 at Istanbul Heavy Penal Court No 23.
The court released 1 person (İkbal Polat), decided to continue detention of 9 people and adjourned the trial to November 27, 2025.
10 people were detained on February 11, 2025 and arrested on February 13, 2025.

On September 18, 2025, the final hearing of the lawsuit filed against 3 people, Ada Gülce Canıgüz, Aslı Sunay and Doğu Demirtaş, for hanging and photographing a picture of the President at Boğaziçi University, which they created using artificial intelligence after the February 6 earthquakes, was held at Istanbul Criminal Court of First Instance No 70. The court acquitted 3 people on the charge of ‘insulting the President’.

On September 19, 2025, the first trial of the case against 3 people (Mehmet Kıran, Aydın Yiğit and Gürcan Turşak) for the protests in Adana against the appointment of trustees to Mardin Metropolitan Municipality and Batman and Halfeti municipalities on November 4, 2024, started at Adana Penal Court of First Instance No 12. The indictment demands sentence for 3 people on the charge of ‘resisting to prevent a duty’. The court adjourned the trial to March 24, 2026.

On September 19, 2025, it is learned from the news coverage of September 19, 2025 that Iranian musician Mohsen Namjoo’s 6 concerts within the scope of his tour in Turkey were canceled due to ‘religious sensitivities’.
Mohsen Namjoo’s concerts in Turkey in 2022 were also canceled.

On September 18, 2025, it is learned from news coverage of September 18, 2025 that Radio and Television Supreme Council (RTÜK) imposed administrative fines on digital platforms Netflix, Prime Video, MUBİ, Disney XD and HBO-MAX for 5 different productions on the grounds of ‘violating national and spiritual values of the society, general morality and the principle of protection of family’, ‘obscenity’ and decided to remove these productions from the catalogue.

It is learned that a news report on https://www. medyaradar.net/ website, where a former MP of Nationalist Movement Party (MHP) was mentioned, and the website’s web address were banned to access by Istanbul Penal Court of Peace No 2 on September 16, 2025, on the grounds of ‘protection of national security and public order’. It is learned that the ban on access to the website was lifted upon objection.
