It is learned from the news coverage of September 17, 2025 that Nevzat Demir, a prisoner in Elazığ High Security Prison No 2, was not allowed to attend his brother’s funeral on the grounds that gendarmerie could not provide security.

It is learned from the news coverage of July 18, 2025 that, the release of Belgin Kanat, a prisoner in Mersin Tarsus Women’s Prison, who completed the execution of her prison sentence, has been adjourned for 3 months by a decision of Prison Administration and Observation Board (CİGK).

On September 17, 2025, the police intervened the march on ‘right to hope’ in Van. It is learned that 4 people were detained by physical violence and were released the same day.
(09/153) Former Mayors and Municipality Executives on Trial…
The trial of the case against 34 people, 13 of whom are arrested, including former Sarıyer Mayor Şükrü Genç, Ataşehir Deputy Mayor Kalender Özdemir, Maltepe District Deputy Mayor Haydar Battal, and Maltepe District Mayor’s Chief of Staff Melih Morsünbül, continued on September 15–17, 2025 at Istanbul Heavy Penal Court No 13. The indictment demands 34 people to be sentenced for ‘providing finance to the organization’.
The court decided to continue detention of 13 people and adjourned the trial to September 29, 2025.
13 people, including Şükrü Genç, were arrested on March 14, 2025.

On September 17, 2025, it is learned from news coverage of September 17, 2025 that Muğla Public Prosecutor’s Office initiated an investigation against Mayor Ali Erdoğan through the same investigation after detaining Özgür Örnek, Deputy Mayor of Köyceğiz district of Muğla.
(09/155) Journalists and Other People on Trial in Diyarbakır…
The trial of the case against 19 journalists through the investigation against Pel Yapım, Piya Yapım and Arî Yapım companies continued on September 18, 2025 at Diyarbakır Heavy Penal Court No 4. The indictment demands sentence for 19 people on the charge of ‘being an illegal organization member’. The court decided to continue the ban on leaving the country and adjourned the trial to January 20, 2026.
(09/156) Indictment Against Magazine Executives…
The indictment prepared by Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office against 6 executives and illustrators of Leman Magazine on the grounds of a cartoon published in the magazine was accepted by Istanbul 2nd Criminal Court of First Instance on September 17, 2025.
The indictment demands sentence for managing editors Zafer Aknar and Aslan Özdemir, editor-in-chief Ali Yavuz and graphic designer Cebrail Okçu, editor-in-chief Mehmet Tuncay Akgün on the charge of ‘public incitement to hatred and hostility through press and broadcasting’, and for cartoonist Doğan Pehlevan on the charge of ‘public incitement to hatred and hostility through press and broadcasting in a chain’.
It is learned that the court ruled for the continuation of detention despite the prosecutor’s demand for release.
The first hearing of the case will be held on November 14, 2025.
Doğan Pehlevan, Zafer Aknar, Cebrail Okçu, Ali Yavuz were arrested on July 4, 2025 and Aslan Özdemir was arrested on July 12, 2025. There is an arrest warrant for Mehmet Tuncay Akgün.

Hasan Mutlu, the mayor of Bayrampaşa district of Istanbul, who was arrested on July 17, 2025, was suspended by the Ministry of Interior on the same day.

On September 18, 2025, it is learned from the news coverage of September 18, 2025 that Mabel Matiz’s song “Perperişan” was banned to be accessed via YouTube, Spotify and Apple Music upon the request of Ministry of Family and Social Services, in accordance with Article 8/A of Law No. 5651.
It is learned that Amazon Interactive Video Service’s website was banned to access by the decision of Directorate General of National Lottery Administration dated September 16, 2025 due to illegal betting.
