Şükrü Sözen, former mayor of Manavgat district of Antalya, who was detained at Istanbul Sabiha Gökçen Airport on September 7, 2025 through ‘bribery’ and ‘corruption’ investigations, is arrested by the criminal court of peace on September 11, 2025.
(09/099) Detained Members and Executives of Political Parties, Associations…
On September 12, 2025, 17 people are detained in house raids in 4 cities (Izmir, Istanbul, Gümüşhane and Adıyaman) through an Izmir based investigation against Socialist Party of the Oppressed (ESP) and Socialist Youth Associations Federation (SGDF).
It is learned that detainees are subjected to 24 hours of restriction on lawyer visits.
Names of detained people are: ESP MYK member Birkan Polat, Hıdır Ali Kılıç, Tuncay Yıldırım Özen, Asiye Kafadar, Hakan Kafadar, Aziz Benli, Hüseyin Satılmış, Hayal Taşdan, Enes Güleli, Rıdvan Coşkun, Dilarin Soylu, Mehmet Göçer, Sezgin Zevkibol, Yağmur Apa, Caner Canlı, Hasan Demirpençe, İsmail Temel.
(09/100) Journalists and Others on Trial in Istanbul…
The indictment prepared by Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office against journalists Tuğçe Yılmaz, Erdoğan Alayumat, Suzan Demir, Taylan Abatan, Gülcan Dereli, Serap Güneş and Berfin Atlı was accepted by Istanbul Heavy Penal Court No 13 on September 11, 2025.
The indictment demands sentence for 7 people, including 5 journalists, on the charge of ‘aiding an illegal organization’.
The first hearing of the case will be held on December 9, 2025.

The trial of the case against 35 people including journalist Engin Deniz İpek, 7 of whom are arrested, for the protests on July 1, 2025 at Saraçhane Square in Fatih district of Istanbul, on the 100th day of the arrest of Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality Mayor, is held at Istanbul Heavy Penal Court No 64 on September 11, 2024. The indictment demands sentence for 35 people on the charges of ‘violating Law No 2911 on Meetings and Demonstrations’ and ‘insulting the President’. The court released 7 arrestees and adjourned the trial to a later date.

The trial of the case against Peoples’ Democratic Party (HDP) former co-chair Figen Yüksekdağ and former MPs Çağlar Demirel, İdris Baluken, Ertuğrul Kürkçü, Saadet Becerikli, Mehmet Ali Aslan, Ahmet Yıldırım and Altan Tan, for their visits during curfews in 2015, continued on September 11, 2025 at Silvan Criminal Court of First Instance. The indictment demands sentence for 7 people on the charges of ‘resisting against duty’, ‘insulting a public officer for his duty’, ‘insulting the President’. The court adjourned the trial to December 11, 2025.

The retrial of the case against Ayşe Gökkan, former spokesperson of Tevgera Jinên Azad (TJA), on the charges of ‘being an illegal organisation member’, ‘knowingly aiding an illegal organisation’ and ‘making propaganda for an illegal organisation’ was continued on September 11, 2025 at Diyarbakır Heavy Penal Court No 9. The court decided to continue detention of Ayşe Gökkan and adjourned the trial to December 30, 2025.
(09/104) Lawyer on Trial in Istanbul…
On September 11, 2025, the trial of the case against Lawyer Burak Saldıroğlu, who was detained and arrested on May 10, 2025 in Istanbul while he was distributing on the streets by printing out the posts of Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu’s social media account, to which access was banned, started at Istanbul Criminal Court of First Instance No 61. The indictment demands sentence for Burak Saldıroğlu on the charge of ‘insulting the President’. The court lifted the travel ban on Burak Saldıroğlu and adjourned the trial to October 30, 2025.
Av. Burak Saldıroğlu was arrested on May 10, 2025 and released by a court decision on June 27, 2025.

The trial of the case against Pınar Aydınlar through the investigation against Peoples’ Democratic Congress (HDK) is held at Istanbul Heavy Penal Court No 13 on September 11, 2025. The indictment demands Pınar Aydınlar to be sentenced for ‘being an illegal organisation member’ and ‘making propaganda for an illegal organisation’. The court adjourned the trial to December 9, 2025.
Pınar Aydınlar was detained on February 18, 2025, arrested on February 21, 2025 and released at the first hearing of the case held on May 13, 2025.

The first trial of the case against Polen Ecology Collective member Onur Yılmaz started on September 11, 2022 at Istanbul Heavy Penal Court No 22. The indictment demands sentence for Onur Yılmaz on the charge of ‘being an illegal organization member’. The court released Onur Yılmaz and adjourned the trial to September 30, 2025.
Onur Yılmaz was arrested on June 28, 2025.

The trial of the case against Emrah Topaloğlu, member of Suruç Families Initiative, continued on September 11, 2025 at Istanbul Heavy Penal Court No 25. The indictment demands sentence for Emrah Topaloğlu on the charge of ‘being an illegal organisation member’. The court released Emrah Topaloğlu with a ban on leaving the country and adjourned the trial.
Emrah Topaloğlu was arrested on January 24, 2025.

On September 11, 2025, it is learned from the news coverage of September 11, 2025 that Grok application’s X social media account was banned to access on the grounds of protection of national security and public order in accordance with Article 8/A of Law No 5651.
