(09/049) Operations and Attacks…
It is learned that 2 police officers, Muhsin Aydemir and Hasan Akın died and 3 people including 2 police officers were wounded in an armed attack to Salih İşgören Police Station in Balçova district of Izmir on September 8, 2025. It is reported that 27 people including a boy named E.B. (16, m) who is alleged to have carried out the attack, are detained in relation to the attack.
(09/050) Police Intervention to Protests in Istanbul…
The police intervened the party members including members of parliament and party executives, who gathered around CHP Istanbul office on September 7, 2025, to protest the dismissal of Republican People’s Party (CHP) Istanbul provincial chair and appointment of Gürsel Tekin as provincial chair.
On September 8, 2025, it is learned that lawyer Muhammed Mesut Yıldız, who was broadcasting on social media around CHP provincial office, was detained by the police.
It is learned from news coverage that the police barricaded the party building and prevented people from entering and leaving the building. It is reported that the police intervened those who tried to break through the barricades by using tear gas chemical agent.
It is learned that at least 10 people were detained due to police interventions.
It is also learned that CHP Hatay and Urfa MPs Servet Mullaoğlu and Mahmet Tanal were injured during the interventions.
On September 8, 2025, the police used tear gas and rubber bullets to intervene people protesting Gürsel Tekin’s attempt to enter CHP provincial office. It is reported that the police also used tear gas inside the provincial building. It is learned that MPs were also subjected to physical violence of the police during the intervention.

It is learned that Şükrü Sözen, former mayor of Manavgat district of Antalya, was detained at Istanbul Sabiha Gökçen Airport on September 7, 2025, through ‘bribery’ and ‘corruption’ investigations.

Alaattin Köseler, mayor of Beykoz district of Istanbul, who was released on September 5, 2025, is detained again on September 6, 2025 upon the acceptance of the objection of Public Prosecutor’s Office and is arrested by the criminal court of peace.
(09/054) Detained People on the Grounds of Social Media Posts…
On September 8, 2025, Directorate General of Security announced that 14 social media account administrators were prosecuted on the allegations of “inciting people to hatred and hostility” and “inciting people to commit crimes”.
It is learned that at least 9 people including academic Emrah Gülsunar and lawyer Şöhret Can Kolsuz are detained in this context.

S.Ç. who was detained at the hotel he stayed in Antalya on September 7, 2025, on the grounds of social media posts about Afyon Governor, is arrested by the criminal court of peace in Afyon on September 8, 2025.

Mehmet Şimşek, who was detained for the slogans and the press declaration he read at the protest organized in Izmir about Gaza, is arrested by the criminal court of peace on September 8, 2024 on the charge of ‘insulting the President’.
(09/057) LGBTI+ Activist on Trial in Ankara…
The first hearing of the lawsuit filed against LGBTI+ activist and Council of Europe (CoE) Congress of Local and Regional Authorities delegate Enes Hocaoğulları, for his speech at the CoE meeting, started on September 8, 2025 at the Ankara Penal Court of First Instance No 86. The indictment demands sentence for Enes Hocaoğulları on the charges of ‘publicly disseminating misleading information’ and ‘inciting the public to hatred and hostility’. The court released Enes Hocaoğulları and adjourned the trial to February 23, 2026.
Enes Hocaoğulları was arrested on August 5, 2025.
(09/058) Political Party Member Lawyers on Indictment in Istanbul…
It is learned from news coverage of September 5, 2025 that Bakırköy Public Prosecutor’s Office prepared an indictment against 3 lawyers (Pınar Akbina Karaman, Ali Serdar Çıngı and Fettah Ayhan Erkan), members of People’s Liberation Party (HKP), who filed a criminal complaint to Bakırköy Public Prosecutor’s Office in Istanbul against the President of the Republic regarding the allegations in Sedat Peker’s statements, on the grounds of insulting the President.

It is learned from news coverage of September 7, 2025 that Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office initiated an investigation on the charges of ‘indecent act’ and ‘indecent exposure’ in relation to the concert organized by Manifest music band at Küçükçiftlik Park in Istanbul on September 6, 2025.
Presidential Advisor Oktay Saral made the following statement about Manifest Group: “These immoral, indecent, impure creatures called the ‘Manifest’ group should be prosecuted so that they will not be able to do this exhibitionism again.”
(09/060) Journalists Prevented from Covering News in Istanbul…
It is learned that journalists who were covering the entrance of Gürsel Tekin, who was appointed to replace Gürsel Tekin, who was suspended by a court decision, to CHP Istanbul provincial office on September 8, 2025, and the protests that took place during this process, were subjected to physical violence of the police and journalists who were covering the news inside CHP office were forcibly taken out of the office. At least 1 journalist (Fatoş Erdoğan) was reportedly injured.

It is learned from the news coverage of September 5, 2025 that, 2 news reports about the documentary Bîra Sûrê (Surun Hafızası) on https://www. evrensel.net and https://ilketv.com.tr websites are banned to access on the grounds of national security and protection of public order.
It is learned from the news coverage of September 6, 2025 that access to X social media account of Medya Haber TV is banned.

It is learned from the news coverage of September 8, 2025 that bandwidth throttling was applied to X, Instagram, Youtube, Tiktok, Facebook, Whatsapp, Telegram, Signal applications as of 23.45 on September 7, 2025. Bandwidth throttling was declared to end as of 21.00 on September 8, 2025.
(09/064) Districts where Protests and Events are Banned…
Governorate of Istanbul made a declaration on September 7, 2025 and banned all rallies, press declarations, open air meetings, demonstrations, setting up tents, opening stands, sit-ins, petitions, commemorations, distributing leaflets, hanging banners and similar events in Beşiktaş, Beyoğlu, Eyüpsultan, Kağıthane, Sarıyer and Şişli districts for 3 days as of 20.00 on September 7, 2025.
