(08/048) Racist Attack in Mersin…

It is learned from the news coverage of August 11, 2025 that, a Kurdish family of 8 people was attacked by a racist group at the entrance of Kisecik village in Çamlıyayla district of Mersin, on the grounds of speaking Kurdish, saying “This is the Republic of Turkey, how can you speak Kurdish”. It is reported in the news reports that 8 people were wounded in various parts of their bodies and 1 person was taken to intensive care unit in hospital while the others were treated as outpatients. 11 people detained in connection with the racist attack are released 2 of them on judicial control conditions.

On August 12, 2025, gendarmerie detained 13 people including the head of IBB Press and Public Relations Department, through an investigation against Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (IBB), on the allegations of ‘bribery’ and ‘membership to a criminal organization’.

Through an investigation against Antalya Metropolitan Municipality, 17 people including municipality employees are detained on August 12, 2025 on the allegations of ‘bribery’.

(08/051) Investigation Against Party Executive for Social Media Posts…

On August 11, 2025, it is learned that an investigation is initiated against Halil İmrek, executive board member of Labour Party (EMEP), on the grounds of ‘provoking hatred and hostility among the public’ through his social media posts on the dismissal of mayors and appointment of trustees and arrest of trade unionist Mehmet Türkmen.

(08/052) Access Ban on Internet Contents…

It is learned that 4 news reports on https://www. diken.com.tr/ , https://www. birgun.net/ , https://dusun-think.net/ , https://ifade.org.tr/ websites about the ban on access to news reports on the diploma of a member of parliament from Justice and Development Party (AKP) were banned from access by Ankara Gölbaşı Criminal Judicature of Peace on August 11, 2025, on the grounds of protection of national security and public order.

It is learned from the declaration of Freedom of Expression Association on August 11, 2025 that at least 139 access ban decisions were issued by 64 different criminal judgeships of peace on social media accounts, social media posts, websites and news and content on these websites in 2025.
