It is learned from the news coverage of 11 November 2024 that, 2 militants died in clashes between Turkish Armed Forces units and HPG militants in the Qandil area of the Iraqi Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) in June 2024.
(11/126) Interventions in Protests Against the Trustee Decisions…
On 11 November 2024, the police intervened against the protests in the Cudi neighborhood of the Cizre district of Şırnak against the decision to dismiss the co-mayors of Mardin, Batman, and Halfeti districts of Urfa and appoint trustees in their places. It is not known whether anyone was detained during the intervention.
According to the news coverage of 11 November 2024, Republican People’s Party (CHP) group deputy chair Ali Mahir Başarır, deputy chair Erhan Adem, Istanbul MP Yunus Emre, deputy chair Erhan Adem, Istanbul MP Yunus Emre, Bursa MP Nurhayat Altaca Kayışoğlu and Diyarbakır MP Sezgin Tanrıkulu participated in the vigil in front of the municipality building being held since 4 November 2024, following the arrest of Istanbul Esenyurt Mayor Ahmet Özer and appointment of a trustee in his place. It is learned that the CHP delegation was prevented from entering the municipality building by the police, and they were allowed to enter the municipality building after a phone call made by Deputy Group Chair Ali Mahir Başarır to Turkish Grand National Assembly (TBMM) Speaker Numan Kurtulmuş. It is also reported in the news that municipality council members elected from CHP were not allowed to enter the building.
(11/127) People Detained and Arrested for the Protests Against the Trustee Decisions in Batman and Mardin…
Kanivar Aykal, who was detained in a house raid on November 5, 2024, on the grounds of protests in Mardin against the decision to dismiss the co-mayors of Mardin, Batman, and Halfeti districts of Urfa and appoint trustees to replace them, was arrested by the Criminal Peace Judgeship on November 8, 2024, on the charge of ‘committing an offense on behalf of an illegal organization’.
It is learned from the news coverage of 11 November 2024 that, 3 people including 1 child were detained on 9 November 2024, for the protests in Batman for the same reason. The names of detained people are Ş.Ş., Y.Ş. and B.Ç. (14). The follow-up of the detention process is not available.
On 11 November 2024, Peoples’ Equality and Democracy Party (DEM Party) Youth Assembly member Hüseyin Aydın was detained in Mardin for the same reason.
It is learned from the news coverage of 11 November 2024 that, Süleyman Kahraman, who was detained in a house raid in Mardin on 7 November 2024 for the same reason, was arrested by the criminal peace judgeship.

Fashion designer Barbaros Şansal was detained on 11 November 2024 at Istanbul Airport, where he arrived from abroad, on the grounds of his statements in a social media broadcast, within the scope of the arrest warrant issued against him by Izmir Penal Court of First Instance No 11. Barbaros Şansal was released on the same day after statement procedures.

On 11 November 2024, 1 person, whose name is unknown, was detained by the gendarmerie for attacking the bust of Atatürk in the Kiraz district of Izmir.
(11/130) People on Trial in Istanbul…
It is learned from the news coverage of November 12, 2024, that, Istanbul Heavy Penal Court No 24 accepted the indictment of the Istanbul Public Prosecutor’s Office against 27 people on the grounds of the September 1, World Peace Day rally of Labour, Peace, and Democracy Forces in the Kadıköy district of Istanbul in 2024. The indictment demands 22 people be sentenced for ‘making propaganda for an illegal organization’ on the grounds of slogans, banners, dancing halay, and victory signs; and 5 people (E.E., O.A, A.İ, E.N.Ç., H.C.) be sentenced for ‘acting together with those who committed these acts’. The first hearing of the case will be held on 24 January 2025.
12 people were detained under torture and ill-treatment during the police intervention against the rally in Kadıköy on 1 September 2024 and were arrested by the criminal peace judgeship on 2 September 2024. 15 people were called to testify about the rally later on. The 12 arrested people were released on 8 November 2024.

It is learned from the news coverage of 11 November 2024 that, the Istanbul Public Prosecutor’s Office initiated a new investigation on the charge of ‘financing of terrorism’ against Ahmet Özer, mayor of the Esenyurt district of Istanbul, who was suspended after being detained and arrested on 30 October 2024 and was replaced by a trustee.
(11/132) ‘No Prosecution’ Decision on Torture and Other Ill-Treatment Allegations in Urfa…
It is learned from the news coverage of 11 November 2024 that, Suruç Public Prosecutor’s Office decided ‘no prosecution’ on the criminal complaint on the allegations of ‘abuse of duty’ and ‘torture’ related to the detention of Adle Samur (64, k) in the Suruç district of Urfa on 2 March 2023 and being subjected to a strip search in Urfa T Type Prison No 2 on 5 March 2024, on the grounds of lack of concrete evidence.
Adle Samur was arrested by the criminal peace judgeship on 5 March 2024 and was released at the first hearing of the case against her at Urfa Heavy Penal Court No 5 on 23 September 2024.
(11/133) Special Security Zone in Diyarbakır…
The Governorate of Diyarbakır announced on 11 November 2024 that Kurşunludüzü and Görese Mountain areas in the Dicle district were declared as temporary special security zones for 8 days between 13 November 2024 and 20 November 2024 and all unauthorized entries and exits to and from these areas were banned.
