It is learned from the news coverage of 26 September 2024 that, 2 militants died in a clash between security forces and HPG militants in rural areas of Mardin on 30 August 2024.

(09/270) Meeting Request with Abdullah Öcalan not Responded to…

It is learned that the appeal made on September 26, 2024, to the chief public prosecutor’s office in Bursa by lawyers in order to visit their clients PKK leader Abdullah Öcalan, Ömer Hayri Konar, Hamili Yıldırım and Veysi Aktaş in İmralı Prison was not responded.

(09/271) Attack on Rainbow Flag at University…

It is learned from the news coverage of 25 September 2024 that, the rainbow flag on the promotional stand of the Feminist Boğaziçi student club at Boğaziçi University was taken away from the stand by a person alleged to be a plain-clothes police officer, and that a student demanded the flag back from the person, and that plain-clothes police officers and private security intervened against the student.

It is learned from the news coverage of 25 September 2024 that, student clubs who hung a rainbow flag with the logo of Boğaziçi University LGBTI+ Studies Club (BÜLGBTİ+), which was closed down on 1 February 2021 by the decision of Melih Bulu, the rector of the university, on their stands as part of orientation days at Boğaziçi University on 23 September 2024, were threatened by the university administration saying that their stands would be closed down if they did not remove the rainbow flag.

(09/273) People Detained in Diyarbakır, Izmir, and Istanbul…

On 25 September 2024, Mehmet Selim Temel, a teacher at Anka Language and Art Education Cooperative, and Rojda Yıldız, a member of the editorial board of Jineolojî Magazine, were detained through an investigation conducted by the Diyarbakır Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office. Cihat Güney, the owner of Payîz Pirtûk, who was detained on 24 September 2024 in house raids through the same investigation, was released on 25 September 2024 after statement procedures at the prosecutor’s office. The total number of people detained through this investigation is 30. It is also reported in the news that the detention period of 29 people who were still detained on 26 September 2024 was extended for 24 hours.

The names of the detainees: MED-DER Co-Chairs Mehmet Remzi Azizoğlu and Şükran Yakut, Rıfat Ronî, Ramazan Holat, Cihat Güney, Dilan Güvenç, Nazan Çelik, Rezan Aktulum, Beritan Gürbet Orak, Berivan Duman, Ayhan Karatekin, Belkis Süleymanoğlu Bitkin, Mehmet Salih Öngün, İlyas Gün, Hebun Yağmur, Mine Karakaş, Ahmet Boltan, Rabia Karayıl, İpek Oyur, Fatma İgin, Mustafa Açmaz, Hasan Gürpınar, Şilan Elmas Kan, Şehriban Ayluçtarhan, Niştiman Gül, Cihat Çağrıcı, Yaşar Aslan, Hasan İkvan, Mehmet Selim Temel and Jineoloji Magazine Editorial Board Member Rojda Yıldız.

(09/274) People Detained in Mardin…

11 of the 13 people including former executives of Peoples’ Democratic Party (HDP) and Democratic Regions Party (DBP) who were detained in house raids in Mardin on 24 September 2024 were released after statement procedures at the gendarmerie. Former DBP executives Necla Kaya and Yasemin Demirkaya were released by the criminal peace judgeship on judicial control conditions on 25 September 2024.

(09/275) Former Association Co-Chair and Party Executive on Trial in Ankara…

It is learned from the news coverage of 25 September 2024 that, the indictment of Ankara Public Prosecutor’s Office against Fatin Kanat, former co-chair of Human Rights Association (iHD) Ankara branch and Ankara provincial chair of Peoples’ Equality and Democracy Party (DEM Party), on the grounds of the statement titled ’Enough on the 108th anniversary of Armenian Genocide! Stop Denial’, which was shared on social media in 2023, was accepted by Ankara Penal Court of First Instance No 56. The indictment demands a sentence for Fatin Kanat on the charge of ‘publicly degrading the state of the Republic of Turkey’. The first hearing of the case will be held on 26 September 2024.

(09/276) The Nihat Kazanhan Case…

The retrial of the case launched by Cizre Heavy Penal Court No 1 after the Constitutional Court’s ruling on the violation of the right to life in the killing of Nihat Kazanhan (12, m) by police fire on 14 January 2015 in the Cizre district of Şırnak continued on 25 September 2024. The court rejected the demand of lawyer Rojhat Dilsiz to examine the HTS base records of the relatives of the defendant since the defendant special operation police officer M. N. G. could not be found although there is a warrant for him with a red notice and adjourned the trial to 16 December 2024.

(09/277) Ülkü Ocakları Members on Trial in Kırklareli for the Attack on a TİP Member…

It is learned from the news coverage of September 26, 2024 that, Kırklareli Penal Court of First Instance No 5 accepted the indictment against Uğurcan Özer and Kalender Özdemir, in relation to Uğur Celep, a member of Workers’ Party of Turkey (TİP), who was subjected to verbal and physical violence by 5 people including Uğurcan Özer, provincial chair of Kırklareli Ülkü Ocakları, and Kalender Özdemir, a member of Ülkü Ocakları, who followed him and took video footage of him during the campaign period of presidential and parliamentary elections held on May 14, 2023. The first hearing of the case will be held on 10 December 2024.

(09/254) Disciplinary Investigation Against a Person for NATO Protest…

It is learned from the news coverage of 26 September 2024 that, TCDD initiated a disciplinary proceeding on 24 September 2024 against Yıldırım Salih İnce, a TCDD employee who protested against NATO soldiers who came to Haydarpaşa Port Directorate of Turkish State Railways (TCDD) on 10 September 2024, by chanting ‘Yankee Go Home’ and ‘Free Palestine’. It is also stated in the news reports that TCDD claims that there is no disciplinary proceeding against Yıldırım Salih İnce.
