It is learned that the appeal made on June 11, 2024, to the chief public prosecutor’s office in Bursa by lawyers to visit their clients PKK leader Abdullah Öcalan, Ömer Hayri Konar, Hamili Yıldırım and Veysi Aktaş in İmralı Prison was not responded.
(06/092) Police Intervention Against a March in Bursa…
It is learned that on June 10, 2024, the police intervened against the march for Palestine in front of the Justice and Development Party (AKP) provincial office in Bursa and detained the marchers by using physical violence and handcuffing them behind their backs. It is also reported in the news that detainees were taken to a police car and then released. The number of detainees and their names could not be learned.

1 person (Zekeriya Dalga) among 19 people including children who were detained in house raids in Van on June 5 and 6, 2024, was arrested by the Criminal Peace Judgeship on June 9, 2024. 17 people were released after statement procedures at the prosecutor’s office.
1 person named Emrullah Derin was arrested on June 8, 2024.
(06/094) Journalist/Co-Mayor on Trial in Diyarbakır…
The trial of the case against Jinnews Editor-in-Chief and Siirt Co-Mayor Sofya Alağaş continued on June 11, 2024, at Diyarbakır Heavy Penal Court No 5. The indictment demands a sentence for Sofya Alağaş on the charge of ‘being a member of an illegal organization’. The court rejected to lift the judicial measures against Sofya Alağaş and adjourned the trial to October 22, 2024.

The trial of the case against Mezopotamya Agency (MA) editor Abdurrahman Gök continued on June 11, 2024, at Diyarbakır Heavy Penal Court No 5. The indictment demands a sentence for Abdurrahman Gök on the charges of ‘being a member of an illegal organization’ and ‘making propaganda for an illegal organization’. The court decided to continue judicial control measures against Abdurrahman Gök and adjourned the trial to October 22, 2024.
(06/096) The Metin Lokumcu Case…
On June 11, 2024, Trabzon Heavy Penal Court No 2 continued to hear the case against 13 police officers including Artvin Provincial Security Director and Hopa District Security Director in connection with the death of Metin Lokumcu due to the excessive and disproportionate use of tear gas during the police intervention against a press statement in Hopa district of Artvin on May 31, 2011. The prosecutor declared the final opinion on the case and demanded the acquittal of 13 police officers. The court adjourned the trial to September 6, 2024.

On June 11, 2023, Istanbul Heavy Penal Court No 11 continued to hear the case against 3 police officers L. M., C. B., and S. E. K. for the strip search of Mücella Yapıcı and Cansu Yapıcı who were detained during the Gezi Park protests in 2013. The prosecutor declared the final opinion on the case and demanded sentence for 2 police officers on the charge of ‘misconduct in office’ and acquittal for L. M., the director of the detention center at the time. The court adjourned the trial to October 17, 2024.

It is learned from the news coverage of June 10, 2024, that 512 news reports on the discovery of cremated bodies of two people in Konya in 2023, were banned from access by the Kulu Criminal Peace Judgeship’s decision dated May 30, 2024 on the grounds of violation of personal rights, and that the content was ordered to be deleted.

The Governorate of Şırnak announced on June 8, 2024, that Gabar Mountain Region within the borders of Central District and Güçlükonak District of Şırnak Province, Cudi Mountain Region within the borders of Central District, Silopi and Cizre Districts, Altındağları Region within the borders of Beytüşşebap District, Oymakaya Region within the borders of Beytüşşebap and Uludere Districts were declared as temporary special security zones for 15 days between June 9, 2024 and June 23, 2024.

It is learned from the news coverage of June 11, 2024, that 5 people were detained in the operations conducted in Izmir on June 11, 2024, on the grounds of ‘being a member of an illegal organization’.
