It is learned from the news coverage of January 12, 2024, that Mehmet Çoban, a prisoner who was arrested in Urfa in 2015 on the grounds of ‘being a member of an illegal organization’ and sentenced to life imprisonment on the charge of ‘disrupting the unity and integrity of the state’, was transferred to Kırşehir High Security Prison and kept in solitary confinement although the verdict against him was not finalized.
It is learned from the news coverage of January 12, 2024, that prisoners in Tekirdağ F Type Prison No 2 are monitored by cameras 24 hours a day, prison administration initiated disciplinary proceedings against prisoners who protested this practice and prisoners were penalized with deprivation of communication rights.

It is learned from the news coverage of January 12, 2024, that a child (13) who was detained for tearing a flag in Istanbul, was released by the court on judicial control conditions of “ban on leaving the country and signing a petition once a month”, on the grounds of ‘publicly insulting the signs of sovereignty of the state’.
It is reported that the child mentioned in the news reports was subjected to racist remarks made by a classmate, that he tore a flag hanging on the school window as a reaction to these remarks, that the school administration issued a suspension order against the classmate who made racist remarks against him, and that the child was detained on January 11, 2024 upon the complaint of his family.

The police intervened against the press statement in front of Metris T Type Prison in Esenler district of Istanbul on January 11, 2024, which was organized by the families of prisoners demanding an end to isolation of PKK leader Abdullah Öcalan, and detained 13 people. It is reported that Mezopotamya Agency (MA) reporter Ferhat Sezgin was subjected to physical violence of the police and was prevented from taking footage. Detained 13 people were released after statement procedures at the police station.

The final trial of the case against police officer Ş. K., who killed Fevzi Süleyman Sökmen after a quarrel, on the charge of ‘intentional killing’ was held at Kayseri Heavy Penal Court No 2 on January 11, 2024. The court applied a good conduct abatement and sentenced Ş. K. to 25 years in prison.

It is learned from the news coverage of January 11, 2024, that a news report on https://www.veryansintv.com, about judges and prosecutors who were reassigned, was banned to access by Istanbul Anadolu Criminal Peace Judgeship No 10 on January 10, 2024.
