8 of 20 people who were detained by the gendarmerie intervening in the watch protest against the dumping of the rubble of the buildings destroyed in the earthquake in Samandağ district of Hatay into the area of the tent cities, on April 4, 2023, are released after statement procedures on April 5, 2023. 12 people were released on April 4, 2023.

It is learned from the news coverage of April 6, 2023 that, İbrahim Aşkan, a prisoner who was transferred from Izmir Aliağa Şakran T Type Prison to Tekirdağ F Type Prison No. 2 on April 2, 2023, was subjected to physical violence for rejecting strip search at the entrance of prison, was put in a solitary cell, was not given duvet cover, and his phone conversation was interrupted as he was talking about right violations.

The final trial of the case against the Peoples’ Democratic Party (HDP) former Istanbul MPs Levent Tüzel and Sabahat Tuncel, for the 1 September Peace Day event held in 2013, is held at Istanbul Büyükçekmece Penal Court of First Instance No. 14 on April 5, 2023. The indictment demands sentence for Tüzel and Tuncel on the charge of ‘violating the Law on Meetings and Demonstrations’. The court acquitted 2 people.

The final trial of the case against musician Yeşim Salkım, on the grounds of ‘insulting the President’ on social media, is held at Istanbul Penal Court of First Instance No. 36 on April 5, 2023. The court decided to acquit Yeşim Salkım.
(04/050) May 14, 2023 General Elections…
The Republican People’s Party (CHP) Istanbul provincial chair Canan Kaftancıoğlu, announced that an armoured attack was carried on the provincial office of the party on April 6, 2023. It is learned that nobody was damaged in the attack. Istanbul Public Prosecutor’s Office made the following statement: “On the TEM highway, in the opposite direction of the CHP Istanbul Provincial Presidency, a few shots are fired into the air from the inside of the vehicle, there is no hit to the building, the police are working on the cameras to detect”.
It is learned that anonymous person or persons attacked and wrote racist symbols and insults on the election campaign office of the Party of Greens and the Left Future (Yeşil Sol Parti) in Bahçelievler district of Istanbul on April 6, 2023.

The Minister of Family and Social Services made a statement on April 5, 2023 and declared that a total of 1,915 unaccompanied children were registered in the system, 1,776 of them were identified and given to their families, 53 children were in the hospital, 79 children were in the institutions of the ministry, and 34 children could not be identified.

The Ministry of Health declared on April 6, 2023, that 844 people died due to Covid-19 pandemic and the number of Covid-19 cases is 252,945 between November 2022-March 2023. It is learned that in November 2022, 181 people died and the number of the cases was 73.574; in December 2022, 252 people died and the number of the cases was 88.075. In January 2023, 231 people died and the number of the cases was 43.801; in February 95 people died and the number of the cases was 15.811; in March 85 people died and the number of the cases was 31.054.
The death toll from Covid-19 in Turkey increased to 102,174 and total number of confirmed ill patients is 17,232,066 as of April 1, 2023.
