It is learned from the news coverage of August 31, 2020 that in Hatay T Type Prison, wards are over-capacity and the food given to prisoners is not enough.
(09/003) Bans and Interventions Against 1 September International Day of Peace Events…
The police prevented the “Peace Chain” event of Peoples’ Democratic Party (HDP) in front of Ankara Railroad Terminal on September 1, 2020 as a part of International Day of Peace events. It is learned that the police prevented journalists watching the event. It is reported that upon prevention a march was started from Ankara Railroad Terminal to Gençlik Park, and 1 person (Aydn Erdoğan) was detained by the police using physical violence.
Izmir Governorate banned 1 September International Peace Day related panel talks, photograph exhibitions, marches, peace chains, concerts and so on for 1 day as of 00.01 on September 1, 2020.
Antalya Governorate made a declaration on August 31, 2020 and banned all events such as marches, sit-in protests, opening stands and tents, wreath-laying ceremonies, and peace chains where people gather hand to hand, side by side, or around a material such as rope, tape or banner, for 7 days as of August 31, 2020.

4 people (Abdullah Papur, Emin Aslan, Ali Dilmen and Utku Urgancı) are detained in police intervention to a protest about death fasts in prisons in front of President’s house in Üsküdar district of Istanbul on August 31, 2020.
The press declaration of Association of Lawyers for Freedom (ÖHD) and Progressive Lawyers Association (ÇHD) Mersin branches about lawyer Ebru Timtik who lost her life in death fast, which was to be held in front of Mersin Courthouse on August 31, 2020 is prevented by the police on the grounds of lack of prosecutor’s office permit.
(09/005) Detained Co-Mayor in Erzurum…
Burhanettin Şahin, HDP co-mayor of Karayazı district of Erzurum is detained on August 31, 2020. The reason of detention is unknown. Burhanettin Şahin is taken to Karayazı District Gendarmerie Command.
Burhanettin Şahin was suspended by Ministry of Interior and a trustee was appointed to Karayazı Municipality on September 18, 2019.

On August 31, 2020 3 people are detained in house raids in Erzurum. The reason of detention and names of detained people are unknown. 3 people are taken to Karayazı District Gendarmerie Command.

3 of 6 people (Beşir Çiçek, Ömer Aktaş and 1 more person) who were detained in Diyarbakır on August 27, 2020 are arrested by the court on August 31, 2020. 3 people are released on judicial control conditions.
(09/008) Covid-19 Pandemic…
Ministry of Health declared that 44 people died due to Covid-19 pandemic and 1,587 new Covid-19 cases were diagnosed on August 31, 2020.
The death toll from Covid-19 in Turkey increased to 6,370 and total number of confirmed cases is 270,133 as of August 31, 2020.
It is learned from the news coverage of August 31, 2020 that a Syrian doctor of Immigrant Health Center in Urfa, died from Covid-19.
