Human Rights Foundation of Turkey (HRFT) voiced solidarity with people of Colombia and human rights organizations in the country. HRFT President Metin Bakkalcı and HRFT’s International Relations Officer Atty. Levent Pişkin stated in a solidarity message to Colombia Psychosocial Care Center (CAPS) Director and International Rehabilitation Council for Torture Victims (IRCT) 2016-2019 Term Member Angela Ospina that:
“We all are witness to the grave human rights violations and violent attacks towards peaceful protesters, human rights defenders and the opposition who enjoy their right to protest despite being far away.
We are deeply sorry for what the Colombian people have been through and solidarity with you. Please always remember that you have friends in Turkey. You should feel certain that we will maintain to make efforts to end this atrocity, bring those responsible to justice, and above all obtain redress for victims.
We would like to assert our sincere solidarity one more time with the belief that we will overcome all this evil altogether.”
