(06/102) Labor Killings…

On June 9,2022, the Worker Health and Worker Safety Council (ISIG) revealed that at least 167 workers, including 10 women, 7 children, and 10 migrant workers lost their lives while working in May 2022. Accordingly, the number of workers who lost their lives in labor killings in the first five months of 2022 is 646.

(06/103) Torture and Other Ill-Treatment in Istanbul…

It is learned from the news coverage of June 9,2022 that a person named R. Ç was subjected to torture and other ill-treatment in Şirinevler Square in Bahçelievler district of Istanbul, when he refused to show his ID to the undercover police officers who stopped him and asked for his ID. It is stated in the news that a police officer asked the municipality police officers in the square, “Is there a camera here?”.

(06/104) Racist Attack in Bursa…

It is learned from the news coverage of June 8,2022 that, Kurdish person named R. H. Canpolat, who worked as a construction worker in Bursa, was subjected to racist attack by 2 collwagues and was injured in various parts of his body. It is reported that R. H. Canpolat was fired after the attack.

(06/105) Meeting Request with Abdullah Öcalan Not Responded…

It has been learned that the appeal made on June 8,2022 to the chief public prosecutor’s office in Bursa by lawyers of PKK leader Abdullah Öcalan in order to visit him was not responded.

(06/106) Police Intervention to a Protest in Istanbul…

The police intervened in the press declaration regarding Sibel Balaç and Gökhan Yıldırım, who were on hunger strike in prison, held in front of the Çağlayan Courthouse in Istanbul on June 8, 2022, abd detained 5 people (Erkan Yıldırım, Coşkun Öztekin, Feridun Osmanağaoğlu, Hasan Basri Yıldız and Muhammet Akyıldız). Detained people were released on the same day.

(06/107) Police Intervention to a Protest in Van…

The police intervened the justice watch, to be held in front of the Forensic Medicine Institute on June 8, 2022 regarding ill prisoners, was prevented by the police on the grounds of the Van Governorate’s ban on protests and activity. It is learned that the police also prevented journalists from recording.

(06/108) Detained Political Party and Association Executives, and Other People in Tekirdağ…

On 3 June 2022, 36 people including members and executives of the Peoples’ Democratic Party (HDP), the Green Left Party, the Peoples’ Democratic Congress (HDK) and Marmara Solidarity Association with the Families of Prisoners (MATUHAY-DER) were detained through a Tekirdağ based investigation.  8 of them are arrested on the charges of “being an illegal organisation member“ and “making propaganda for an illegal organization”, and 5 people are released on judicial control conditions.

Names of the arrested persons: Seyit Soydan, Sadi Özdemir, Murat Mutlu, Hüseyin Güzel, Ömer Güven, Emin Şen, Sadet Fırat and Emin Orhan.

It is learned that 23 people are still in custody.

(06/109) Detained People in Şırnak…

13 people were detained in house raids in Şırnak on June 8 and 9, 2022. The reason for detention is unknown.

Names of the detainees are: Nihat Üstün, Sait Üstün, Abdurrahman Altay, Salih Ceylan, Hacı Üstün, Halit Güngen, Adil Üstün, Ömer Gülenç, Nizar Kılınç, Emin Mungan, Emin Külter, Naim Tunç and Şoreş Akın.

(06/110) CHP Chair on Trial…

The final trial of the case against the Republican People’s Party (CHP) chair Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu, regarding his expressions “If the so-called president of Turkey directly targets a newspaper and calls, ‘I do not read that newspaper, you should not buy it and read it’, consider the pressure on the media yourself” at his party’s group meeting in the National Assembly,is held at Ankara Penal Court of First Instance No 9 on June 8, 2022. The case was opened upon the President’s complaint who demands a compensation of 1 million Turkish Liras. The court denied the claim for compensation.

(06/111) HDP MP on Trial…

The trial of the case against HDP Diyarbakır MP Musa Farisoğulları, who was stripped of the MP status after the sentence given to him was finalized, is held at Diyarbakır Heavy Penal Court No 10 on June 8, 2022.

The indictment demands sentence up to 26 years for Musa Farisoğulları on charges of ‘being an illegal organisation member’, ‘making propaganda for an illegal organization’, ‘inciting the public to unlawful meetings and demonstrations’, ‘ participating in unlawful meetings and demonstations and not dispersing despite a warning.

The court adjourned the trial to November 2, 2022.

(06/112) Co-Mayor on Trial in Diyarbakır…

The final trial of the case against HDP Co-Mayor Necla Tamriş of Çınar district of Diyarbakır is held at Diyarbakır Heavy Penal Court No 10 on June 8, 2022. The court acquitted Necla Tamriş. Necla Tamriş was suspended by the Ministry of Interior on June 15, 2021.

(06/113) Ban of Events in Bursa…

Bursa Governorate’s Office made a statement on June 7, 2022 and announced that all events including marches, press declarations, hunger strike, sit-in protests, opening stands and tents, distribution of leaflets, hanging posters, and so on are banned for 7 days as of June 9, 2022, because of the “March to Gemlik to defend peace against İmralı politics” to be held in Bursa on June 12, 2022.

One person was detained in Çanakkale on 8 June 2022.

(06/115) Trials in Alleged Link to Coup Attempt…

The final trial of the case against Fatih Gürsul, the former adviser of CHP chair Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu, is held at Istanbul Heavy Penal Court No 25, on June 8, 2022. The court sentenced Fatih Gürsul to 6 years and 3 months on the charge of “being an illegal organisation member”.
