It is learned that the appeal made on January 09, 2024, to the chief public prosecutor’s office in Bursa by the lawyers of PKK leader Abdullah Öcalan, and Ömer Hayri Konar, Hamili Yıldırım and Veysi Aktaş in Imralı Prison, to visit them was not responded to.

On January 8, 2024, the trial of the compensation lawsuit filed against journalist Seyhan Avşar, based on a news report she published about the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, continued at Ankara Civil Court of First Instance No 16. The court decided to dismiss the lawsuit.

On January 9, 2024, the first hearing of the lawsuit filed against journalists Deniz Nazlım, Sibel Yükler and Yıldız Tar, who were detained by torture and ill-treatment while protesting the arrest of their colleagues in Ulus district of Ankara on July 5, 2022, was held at Ankara Penal Court of First Instance No 71 on the charge of ‘Violating Law No 2911 on Meetings and Demonstrations’. The court adjourned the hearing to April 25, 2024.

On January 9, 2024, a person named O.A., who was detained in Kuşadası district of Aydın, was arrested by the Criminal Peace Judgeship on the same day.
