It is learned from the news coverage of December 8, 2021 that, a prisoner in Edirne F Type Prison was transferred to another prison under coercion. The name of the prisoner and the transfer prison are unknown.

The police prevented the press declaration of the Peoples’ Democratic Party (HDP) about right violations in prisons, in Diyarbakır on December 8, 2021.

B. P., a member of the Socialist Youth Associations’ Federation (SGDF) who has been arrested on November 17, 2021 on the grounds of social media posts, is released from prison upon appeal on December 8, 2021, but is detained once again on the same day on the grounds of a warrant through another investigation. B. P. is released on December 9, 2021.

On December 8, 2021, Abdullah Kaçmaz, Silopi district council member from HDP; HDP Youth Assembly member Mehmet Miraç Dinç and Sümeyye Gök are detained in house raids in Silopi district of Şırnak. The reason of detention is unknown.

The first trial of the case against Jinnews editor Gülşen Koçuk, on the grounds of making propaganda for an illegal organisation on social media, is held at Diyarbakır Heavy Penal Court No 9 on December 8, 2021. After defence hearings the court sentenced Gülşen Koçuk to 1 year 10 months and 15 days and deferred the announcement of the verdict.

The trial of the case against 5 people, including journalist Aziz Oruç and HDP Doğubayazıt district co-chair Abdullah Ekelek, is held at Ağrı Heavy Penal Court No 2 on December 8, 2021. The court adjourned the trial to March 9, 2022.
Aziz Oruç and Abdullah Ekelek were detained on December 11, 2019, on Ağrı-Doğubayazıt roadway, while İkram Müftüoğlu was detained on the same day in a house raid. Abdullah Ekelek and İkram Müftüoğlu were arrested on December 13, 2019; Aziz Oruç was arrested on December 18, 2019. Abdullah Ekelek and İkram Müftüoğlu were released at the first trial held on July 21, 2020, and Aziz Oruç was released on November 9, 2020.

The final trial of the case against Tevgera Jinên Azad (Free Women’s Movement – TJA) activist Figen Ekti is held at Diyarbakır Heavy Penal Court No 10 on December 8, 2021. The court decided to drop the case, for 2 other cases on the same grounds have ended as acquittal earlier.

The Ministry of Health declared that 192 people died due to Covid-19 pandemic and the daily number of Covid-19 cases is 20,874 as of December 8, 2021.
The death toll from Covid-19 in Turkey increased to 78,407 and total number of confirmed ill patients is 8,964,711 as of December 8, 2021.
It is learned that laboratorian Uğur Bozdoğan in Osmaniye lost his life due to Covid-19 on December 8, 2021.
