It is learned from the news coverage of April 7, 2025 that, a prisoner who was arrested for participating in the protests against the arrest of Istanbul Metropolitan Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu and was put in Istanbul Marmara (Silivri) Prison No 3, was subjected to verbal and physical assault of another prisoner in E-3 ward.
On April 7, 2025, it is learned from news coverage of April 7, 2025 that 2 prisoners in Tokat T Type Prison, Suat Oğuz and Mehmet Tiryaki, were sentenced to 3 months of visit bans through a disciplinary proceeding against them for rejecting to be searched inside their mouths during hospital transfer.

It is learned from news coverage of April 7, 2025 that 2 prisoners in Tokat T Type Prison, Suat Oğuz and Mehmet Tiryaki, who rejected to be subjected to mouth search during transfer to hospital, were not taken to hospital and were not given the medication they were supposed to take.

Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office made a declaration on April 8, 2025 and announced that 20 indictments are prepared against 819 people including 278 arrestees, for participating in protests against arrest of Istanbul Metropolitan Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu, and that lawsuits are initiated in related criminal courts of first instance.

The final hearing of the case against journalist Neşe İdil for a social media post she made was held at Istanbul 60th Criminal Court of First Instance on April 8, 2025. The court acquitted Neşe İdil on the charges of ‘publicly degrading religious values adopted by a section of the public’ and ‘praising crime and criminal’.

The trial of the case against Socialist Party of the Oppressed (ESP) Co-Chair Hatice Deniz Aktaş, Ebru Yiğit, Nurcan Güllübudak and Mert Unay continued on April 8, 2025 at Istanbul Heavy Penal Court No 14. The indictment demands sentence for 4 people on the charge of ‘being an illegal organization member’. The court decided to continue house arrest measures against Mert Umay and adjourned the trial to May 6, 2025.

The trial of the case against musician Ferhat Tunç for his activities in Democratic Society Congress and social media posts, continued on April 8, 2025 at Diyarbakır Heavy Penal Court No 5. The indictment demands sentence for Ferhat Tunç on the charges of ‘being an illegal organisation member’ and ‘making propaganda for an illegal organisation’. The court adjourned the trial to July 8, 2025.

On April 8, 2025, it is learned from news coverage of April 8, 2025 that Istanbul Public Prosecutor’s Office prepared an indictment against Zafer Party chair Ümit Özdağ. The indictment demands sentence for Ümit Özdağ on the charge of ‘provoking hatred and hostility among people’.
