(11/070) Operations and Attacks…

It is learned from the news coverage of November 8, 2022 that, 2 militants died in a clash between the Turkish Armed Forces units and HPG militants in Haftanin area of the Iraqi Kurdistan Regional Government on September 17, 2022.

(11/071) Torture and Ill-Treatment in Prison…

It is learned from the news coverage of November 14, 2022 that, a prisoner named Süreyya Erge was subjected to physical and verbal violence of the correction officers in Kayseri Bünyan Prison.

It is learned from the news coverage of November 7, 2022 that, Ferda Öztürk, a visitor of a prisoner in Ankara Sincan L Type Prison No. 1, and her two children (one 10-year-old and the other 15 months old) was subjected to strip search at the entrance of the prison. Ferda Öztürk stated the following to the press: “A correction officer who was yelling at everyone as they went through the X-ray, raised their voice even more when it was our turn. The officer walked up to me and shouted. I said, ‘You can’t yell at us like that’. After going through the X-ray and being taken in, the same officer started bashing me in front of the women’s search booth. After a verbal discussion, they took me to the search cabin with my 15-month-old baby. 2 officers strip searched my baby. I said not to do it and I cried, they ended it by saying “ok it’s over”. When I got out of the cabin, I saw that my 10-year-old daughter, who came out of the other cabin, was crying too. I thought my daughter was crying because she heard my voice, it turns out that she was subjected to strip search too. She told me when we got home.”

(11/072) Police Intervention to a Protest in Ankara…

The police intervened in the groups marching towards the Grand National Assembly of Turkey (TBMM) in Ankara to attend the press declaration of Alevi institutions regarding a law, which includes the regulations regarding the Cemevis. It is learned that nobody was detained but 2 people were injured in the intervention.

(11/073) Detained People in Istanbul for Participating in Protest…

10 people were detained in house raids in Istanbul on November 8, 2022 on the grounds of participating in the march held in Şişli district of Istanbul on November 7, 2022 to protest the establishment anniversary of the Higher Education Council (YÖK).

(11/074) Gendarmerie Intervention to Protest in Şırnak…

50 people who were detained by the gendarmerie intervened in the march in Tilqebîn town of Silopi district of Şırnak on November 6, 2022, regarding the allegations of usage of chemical weapons in the Claw-Lock military operation of the Turkish Armed Forces into the Iraqi Kurdistan Regional Government, are released after statement procedures on November 7, 2022.

(11/075) People on Trial in Istanbul…

The first trial of the case against 2 people (Fince Akman and Cemile Karakaş) who were detained in police intervention to a press declaration about ill prisoners, is held at Istanbul Bakırköy Penal Court of First Instance No. 12 on November 8, 2022. The indictment demands sentence for 2 people on the charge of ‘violating the Law on Meetings and Demonstrations’. After defence hearings the court acquitted 2 people.

It is learned from the news coverage of November 7, 2022 that, the proceeding demanding lift of impunity of the Republican People’s Party Istanbul MP Sezgin Tanrıkulu was submitted to Grand National Assembly.

(11/077) Detentions and Arrests in Alleged Link to Coup Attempt…

It is learned that 19 people were detained in operations covering 12 cities through an Izmir based investigation; 27 people were detained in operations covering 5 cities through an Istanbul based investigation and 14 people were detained in Ankara.
