(07/055) Labor Killings…

On June 11, 2025 Worker Health and Worker Safety Council (ISIG) announced that at least 164 workers including 15 women, 4 children and 5 migrants/refugees lost their lives while working in June 2025.

(07/056) People Died in Prison…

On July 8, 2025, it is learned from news coverage of July 8, 2025 that 2 prisoners, Ramazan E. (67) and Kadir B. (34), died in Sakarya Ferizli L Type Prison. It is stated in the news reports that the cause of death of both prisoners was suicide.

(07/057) Prevention of Right to Access to Health in Prison…

On July 8, 2025 it is learned from news coverage of July 8, 2025 that Mahsum Yüksekbağ, an ill prisoner in Erzurum Dumlu High Security Prison No 1, was taken back to prison from the hospital where he was transferred without being treated because of rejecting to be treated in handcuffs.

(07/058) Police Intervention to a Protest in Istanbul…

On July 7, 2025, the police intervened the people who chained themselves to the IMM building to protest the dismissal of 3 members of Dev Turizm İş Union affiliated to DISK, working at BELTUR A.Ş. of Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (IMM) and detained 7 union members. 7 people were released on the same day after statement procedures at the police.

(07/059) Detained Mayor and Municipality Executives in Antalya…

7 of 34 people including Niyazi Nefi Kara, mayor of Manavgat district of Antalya and municipality executives who were detained on July 4, 2025, are arrested by the criminal court of peace on July 7, 2025 on the charges of ‘bribery, extortion and embezzlement’. It is learned that 27 people including Niyazi Nefi Kara are still under custody.

(07/060) Party Chair on Trial in Ankara…

The final hearing of the lawsuit filed against Zafer Party chair Ümit Özdağ for revealing the identities of 3 MIT members who died in Libya, was held at Ankara Heavy Penal Court No 26 on July 8, 2025. The court acquitted Ümit Özdağ on the grounds that the legal elements of the crime did not exist.

(07/061) Journalist on Trial in Batman…

The first trial of the case against journalist Mehmet Üçar, on the grounds of news reports and articles he wrote for Özgür Politka newspaper published in Germany, started on July 8, 2025 at Batman Heavy Penal Court No 2. The indictment demands sentence for the journalist on the charge of ‘being an illegal organization member’. The court released Mehmet Üçar and adjourned the trial to November 7, 025.

Mehmet Üçar was arrested on November 29, 2024.

(07/062) Investigations Against Journalists and Political Party Executives in Urfa…

On July 8, 2025, it is learned from news coverage of July 8, 2025 that Urfa Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office initiated an investigation against Mezopotamya Agency (MA) reporter Ceylan Şahinli and journalists Nazım Daştan and Cihan Bilgin, for their speech at a press declaration about the deaths of journalists in Syria, and that the journalist was summoned to Urfa Security Branch Directorate to testify.

It is reported that Democratic Regions Party (DBP) Diyarbakır provincial co-chair Mehmet Şirin Gürbüz and Peoples’ Equality and Democracy Party (DEM Party) Urfa provincial organization executive Bekir Benek are also investigated through the same investigation.

(07/063) Investigation Against CHP Executives in Istanbul…

On July 8, 2025, it is learned from news coverage of July 8, 2025 that Istanbul Public Prosecutor’s Office initiated an investigation against 10 CHP members and executives including CHP Istanbul Provincial Chair Özgür Çelik, and called 10 people to testify, on the allegations of fraud in the provincial chair election of Republican People’s Party (CHP) Istanbul provincial congress held in 2023.

(07/064) Suspended Mayor in Antalya…

Antalya Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Muhittin Böcek, who was arrested on June 5, 2025, is dismissed by the Ministry of Interior on July 7, 2025.

(07/065) Investigation Authorization for Police Officers in Istanbul…

On July 8, 2025 it is learned from news coverage of July 8, 2025 that Istanbul Public Prosecutor’s Office rejected Istanbul Governorate’s permission to investigate 4 police officers for the physical violence against lawyers who went to Istanbul Security Directorate to meet with detainees during police interventions to May 1 protests in Istanbul in 2025.

(07/066) Proceedings Against MPs…

On July 8, 2025, it is learned from the news coverage of July 8, 2025 that, proceedings on 3 parliamentary members demanding lift of their parliamentary immunity are sent to Grand National Assembly of Turkey (TBMM).

MPs against whom proceedings have been prepared:

  • CHP Chairman and Manisa MP Özgür Özel
  • CHP Istanbul MP Turan Taskin
  • IYI Party Group Deputy Chairman and Balıkesir MP Turhan Çömez.

(07/067) Special Security Zone in Şırnak…

Şırnak Governorate made a declaration on July 7, 2025 and announced that Dilekyolu, Tuzluca, Ayrancı, Çığlıca and İncebeldağları areas in Beytüşşebap district are declared as temporary special security zones for 9 days between July 8, 2025 and July 16, 2025.

(07/068) Detained People in Istanbul…

Through 2 separate investigations initiated by Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office, 10 people were detained on July 8, 2025 in house raids in Istanbul on the allegations of being a member of the current structure of the organization.
