(07/071) Prevention of Right to Health in Prison…

It is learned from the news coverage of July 7, 2022 that, the prisoners who suffer from headache, diarrhoea and fatigue in Elazığ Prison No. 1 were not referred to the doctor.

It is learned from the news coverage of July 8, 2022 that, Aydın Kurga, an ill prisoner in Manisa Akhisar T Type Prison was not given their medication on the grounds of financial crisis.

(07/072) Meeting Request with Abdullah Öcalan Not Responded…

It is learned that the appeal made on July 7, 2022 to chief public prosecutor’s office in Bursa by the lawyers of PKK leader Abdullah Öcalan, in order to visit him was not responded.

It is learned that the appeal made on July 7, 2022 to chief public prosecutor’s office in Bursa by families and tutelary of PKK leader Abdullah Öcalan, and Ömer Hayri Konar, Hamili Yıldırım and Veysi Aktaş in Imralı Prison, in order to visit them was not responded.

(07/073) Police Intervention to a Protest in Istanbul…

The police intervened the justice watch in front of Çağlayan Courthouse in Istanbul about ill prisoners, held on July 7, 2022; and detained 4 people by using physical violence.

(07/074) Gendarmerie Intervention to a Protest in Mardin…

The gendarmerie used physical violence to intervene in the people protesting placement of electrometers on power poles in Nusaybin district of Mardin, and detained 7 people by using physical violence on July 7, 2022.

(07/075) Detentions for the HDP Congress…

20 people who have been detained through the investigation that was launched by Ankara Public Prosecutor’s Office on the grounds of the slogans chanted at the 5th Congress of the HDP held in Ankara on July 3, 2022, are released by the court on July 7, 2022 provided that 9 of them will be on judicial control conditions.

(07/076) Kobanê Case…

The trial of the case against 108 members and executives of HDP including former co-chairs, including 21 arrestees, is held at Ankara Heavy Penal Court No 22 between June 27 and July 8, 2022.

It is learned that at the hearing held on June 27, 2022, the court rejected Sibel Akdeniz’s request to be excluded from the next trials. It was learned that the microphone of HDP former co-chair Figen Yüksekdağ, who drew attention that the witness hearings were unlawful, was turned off by the chief judge. The court decided to write a warrant to the penal institution for Aysel Tuğluk to be present at the next session.

It is learned that at the hearing held on June 28, 2022, the chief judge asked Aysel Tuğluk about some news content covering her interviews in the past, and Tuğluk said, “I have a special situation. I cannot express myself because of my illness. I will make my defence later”. Hasan Uzun, one of the complainants, stated the following: “I don’t know what this case is about. I gave a statement in the past, but now I think differently. My ideas have changed. God’s judgments are not applied in your court. That’s why I don’t want to testify. I am not complaining about politicians whose names are read. I do not accept this court”. Another complainant İbrahim Taşdemir said, “I was at the scene during the events. I was hurt by someone I don’t know. I don’t remember what happened next”, and other complainants Sinan Pığlıs and Hazrat Egit also stated that they did not complain about the politicians on trial.

It is learned that at the hearing held on June 30, 2022, the court decided to have the accused politicians and lawyers watch the recorded statements of secret witnesses Mahir, Seher and Ulaş, whose statements were previously taken via sound and vision system and reported to have been heard at the weekend before this session. It is reported that the recordings of their testimonies were shown in the empty courtroom during the session on July 4, 2022.

On July 8, 2022, the court decided to detect the current addresses of the witnesses Hicra Berna Ayverdi and Gül Tanrıverdi who were not found yet, and to hear them at the next trial. The court rejected the lawyers’ request to file a criminal complaint against some of the open and secret witnesses who were found to have made false statements, and decided to continue the detention of 21 people. The court adjourned the trial to be held between July 25, 2022 and August 5, 2022.
