Worker Health and Worker Safety Council (ISIG) revealed that at least 294 workers including 3 children, 21 women, and 4 refugees died while working in November 2020. It is stated in the report that 2032 workers died while working in the first 11 months of 2020.

It is learned that 5 soldiers injured in a car crash where a military vehicle of gendarmerie rolled over due to loss of steering control in Pütürge district of Malatya on December 7, 2020.
(12/090) Torture and Ill-Treatment in Prison…
It is learned from the news coverage of December 7, 2020 that, Selda Karataş, a prisoner in Kocaeli Gebze Women’s Prison, who was being taken to the courthouse for a trial, was forced to be searched once again after being searched two times already, and after a quarrel took place she was subjected to verbal and physical violence of the gendarmerie officers on duty. It is stated in the news reports that Selda Karataş lost consciousness after she was pushed by a gendarmerie officer with a knee on her throat. It is reported that Selda Karataş was injured at wrist, knees and face.
It is learned from the news coverage of December 7, 2020 that, in Diyarbakır Women’s Prison hot water was not provided n a regular basis and letters sent to prisoners were being delivered with a delay.
It is learned from the news coverage of December 7, 2020 that in Kocaeli Gebze Women’s Prison, tap water for prisoners was being restricted.

It is learned from the news coverage of December 7, 2020 that, prisoners in Diyarbakır Women’s Prison were forced to wear two handcuffs while they were being transferred to hospitals, and those who reject it were not taken to hospital.
It is learned from the news coverage of December 7, 2020 that, in Kocaeli Gebze Women’s Prison, ill prisoners are not given their medications on a regular basis.
(12/092) Hunger Strike in Prison…
It is learned from the news coverage of December 7, 2020 that a group of prisoners joined the indefinite hunger strike in turns which started in prisons on November 26, 2020, demanding an end to isolation of PKK leader Abdullah Öcalan and to right violations in prisons.
The prisoners joining the strike are:
- İzmir Şakran Women’s Prison: 2 prisoners (Behrivan Aydın and Mahsume Şedal);
- Diyarbakır D Type Prison: 5 prisoners (Sedat Nurioğlu, Rahim Şahin, Mustafa Kutay, Aydın Kazan and Hüseyin Çelik);
- Kocaeli Kandıra F Type Prison No 1: 1 prisoner (Democratic Regions Party former co-chair Sebahat Tuncel)
- Mersin Tarsus T Type Prison No 1: 2 prisoners (Veysi Denizhan and Serhat Borak)

The police intervened the press declaration of Free Women’s Movement (TJA) and Peoples’ Democratic Party (HDP) in Van on December 7, 2020, to protest the sexual assault of a child by 27 people some of whom are claimed to be soldiers, police officers and village guards in Gercüş district of Batman. It is learned that the police used physical violence against reporters of Mezopotamya and Jinnews news agencies to force them away.

3 people (2 Russian journalists [A. P. K. and I. M.] and A. Ç. K.] who were detained on the grounds of filming the area of drone production research and development facilities in Istanbul on December 3, 2020 are released after statement procedures at the prosecutor’s office on December 7, 2020.

It is learned that on December 7, 2020 Security General Directorate initiated an investigation against 27 people for their social media posts about the sexual assault against a child by 27 people some of whom are claimed to be soldiers, police officers and village guards in Gercüş district of Batman.

The first trial of the case against İsmail Demirbaş who was arrested after a street interview in Antalya, is held on December 7, 2020.
The court released İsmail Demirbaş and adjourned the trial to December 28, 2020.
İsmail Demirbaş was arrested on November 1, 2020, at the courthouse where he went to appeal a house confinement order.

The final trial of the case through an investigation on Democratic Society Congress (DTK), against Ayşegül Doğan, programme director of IMC TV television channel which was closed down by a state of emergency decree, is held at Diyarbakır Heavy Penal Court No 9 on December 7, 2020.
The court sentenced Ayşegül Doğan to 6 years and 3 months on the charge of ‘being an illegal organisation member’ and decided to continue the ban on leaving the country.

The final trial of the case against Ferhat Parlak, reporter and grant holder of Silvan Mücadele newspaper is held at Diyarbakır Heavy Penal Court No 11 on December 7, 2020.
The court ruled dismissal of charges, with regard to the acquittal of Ferhat Parlak in another case which was based on the same evidences, and lifted the ban on leaving the country.

It is learned that the news report “Gercüş rape investigation: 27 people charged including specialised sergeants, police officers, village guards” published on http://jinnews12.xyz is banned to access by Gercüş Penal Court of Peace on December 7, 2020.
(12/101) Covid-19 Pandemic…
The Ministry of Health declared that 203 people died due to Covid-19 pandemic and 6,420 new Covid-19 ill patients were diagnosed on December 7, 2020. It is also declared that the daily number of Covid-19 case is 32,137.
The death toll from Covid-19 in Turkey increased to 15,103 and total number of confirmed ill patients is 545,711 as of December 7, 2020.
It is learned that 4 health workers (pharmacist Rıdvan Mutlu in Aydın, doctor Mustafa Kartal in Istanbul, Mücahip Etil in Manisa and nurse Fikriye Çakmak in Hatay) lost their lives due to Covid-19 on December 7, 2020.
It is learned from the news coverage of December 7, 2020 that a prisoner in Istanbul Silivri L Type Prison No 2 tested positive for Covid-19.
