It is learned from the news coverage of June 7, 2024, that 4 soldiers got wounded when an armored vehicle carrying soldiers from Van to Hakkari overturned in Gürpınar district of Van.

It is learned from the news coverage of June 9, 2024, that the release of Abdülaziz Kolanç, a prisoner in Afyon T Type Prison who completed 30 years of his life sentence in September 2023, was postponed for the 3rd time by Prison Administration and Observation Board on the grounds of disciplinary penalty.
It is learned from the news coverage of June 10, 2024, that the release of Nuriye Adet, a prisoner in Ankara Sincan Women’s Prison, who completed 30 years of her life sentence on March 3, 2024, was postponed by the Prison Administration and Observation Board for 6 months on the grounds of ‘not complying with the rules for security purposes’. It is also reported in the news that Nuriye Adet’s release was previously postponed for 3 months by the Prison Administration and Observation Board.

It is learned from the news coverage of June 8, 2024, that Fatma Özbay, an ill prisoner in Izmir Şakran Women’s Prison, was not taken for routine check-ups despite having breast cancer.

It is learned from the news coverage of June 10, 2024, that anonymous people inflicted physical and verbal violence on people who organized a dance event at Tema Park in Kayapınar district of Diyarbakır on June 9, 2024; and that 2 people were injured due to violence and were taken to hospital.
(06/080) Police Interventions Against Protests Against the Trustee Decision…
It is learned from the news coverage of June 7, 2024, that the police prevented the press statement to be held at İsmet İnönü Park in Adana on June 3, 2024, with the call of Human Rights Association (IHD) Adana Branch and Peoples’ Equality and Democracy Party (DEM Party), against Ministry of Interior’s decision to appoint Hakkari Governor Ali Çelik as trustee in place of Mehmet Sıddık Akış, who was elected as Hakkari co-mayor in March 31 local elections.
It is learned from the news coverage of June 9, 2024, that the group gathered in front of a workplace in the Yenişehir district of Diyarbakır on June 9, 2024, with the call of Peoples’ Equality and Democracy Party (DEM Party) and Democratic Regions Party (DBP) to march against the same decision, was blockaded by the police and the police intervened against the group. It is reported that no one was detained during the intervention.

It is learned from the news coverage of June 10, 2024, that Ulus Monument, where the Eskişehir Pride March was to be held for the 4th time on June 9, 2024, was blockaded by the police, the banning decision was not submitted to the people who were going to march, and 10 people were detained by the police and were subjected to torture and ill-treatment. It is also stated in the news reports that the police prevented journalists from taking video footage.

On June 7, 2024, the police prevented the garbage collection event organized by Silopi Municipality in the Silopi district of Şırnak for World Environment Day, on the grounds of the ban on demonstrations and events by the Governorate of Şırnak. It is reported in the news that municipality lawyers filed a criminal complaint to the Silopi Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office.

On June 8, 2024, Ahmet Kaya and Ramazan Kartalmış, former co-mayors of the Ergani district of Diyarbakır, and deputy mayors Gülistan Polat, Esveri Malkoç and Cavidan Yaman were detained in house raids in the Ergani district of Diyarbakır. It is learned that a lawyer visit restriction is imposed for 24 hours.

On June 8, 2024, Dicle Electricity Distribution Company (DEDAŞ) teams accompanied by the gendarmerie came to Açma village of İdil district of Şırnak on the grounds of illegal electricity use, and the muezzin A. Y., who made an announcement from the mosque of the village saying ‘Do not open your doors to DEDAŞ employees’, was detained on the same day through an investigation initiated by İdil Public Prosecutor’s Office.
(06/085) People Detained in Van…
1 of the 9 people (Emrullah Derin) who were detained in house raids in the Tuşba district of Van on June 6, 2024, was arrested by the Criminal Peace Judgeship. The detention period of 8 people was extended for 24 hours on June 8, 2024. It is also reported in the news that there is a confidentiality order on the case. The reason for the detention and arrest could not be learned.
(06/086) Saturday Mothers/People on Trial…
The case against the peaceful gathering of the Saturday Mothers/People on June 10, 2023, in which 20 people (Besna Tosun, Maside Ocak, Hasan Karakoç, Meriç Eyüboğlu, Cüneyt Yılmaz, Leman Yurtsever, Ali Tosun, Ali Ocak, Selvi Gülmez, Hanife Yıldız, Mikail Kırbayır, İrfan Bilgin, Hünkar Yurtsever, Sebla Arcan, Hatice Korkmaz, İsmail Yücel, Meryem Bars, Aylin Tekiner, İkbal Eren, Mukaddes Şamiloğlu) were detained, continued at Istanbul Penal Court of First Instance No 39 on June 7, 2024. The indictment demands a sentence for 20 people on the charge of ‘violating Law No 2911 on Meetings and Demonstrations’. The indictment also demands that the Saturday Mothers/People be sentenced under Article 53 of the Turkish Penal Code (TCK) (upon conviction, the exercise of certain rights may be compulsorily prohibited). The court rejected the demands for immediate acquittal and adjourned the hearing to October 4, 2024.
(06/087) The Şenyaşar Family Case…
On June 7, 2024, the case against 30 people including 4 arrestees, about 4 people including 3 members of the Şenyaşar family, who died in the incidents that took place on June 14, 2018, in the Suruç district of Urfa, during AKP MP Halil İbrahim Yılmaz’s visit to shopkeepers, was held at Malatya Heavy Penal Court No 3. The court ruled to continue the detention of Fadıl Şenyaşar and other arrested defendants Celal Yıldız, Enver Yıldız and Mekail Şimşek and to lift the judicial control measures on the defendants and adjourned the trial to July 12, 2024.
(06/088) People on Trial in Bitlis…
The trial of the case against 7 people who were arrested after being detained during the military operations and curfews in Hizan and Tatvan districts of Bitlis between July 2, 2023, and November 28, 2023, started on June 7, 2024, at Bitlis Heavy Penal Court. The indictment demands sentences for 7 people on the charges of ‘being a member of an illegal organization’, ‘disrupting the unity and integrity of the state’ and ‘abetting intentional killing by design’. The court released Serkan Gezici and Mahsun Gezici and adjourned the trial to August 26, 2024.

The Governorate of Batman announced on June 10, 2024, that all kinds of demonstrations, marches, vigils, press declarations, hunger strikes, sit-in protests, rallies, opening stands, setting up tents, distributing leaflets, hanging banners and placards, etc. to be held against the decision of the Ministry of Interior to appoint Hakkari Governor Ali Çelik as trustee in place of Mehmet Sıddık Akış, who was elected as co-mayor of Hakkari Municipality in the March 31 local elections, and the entry of persons and vehicles that are considered likely to participate in these actions and activities into the borders of Batman and the exit from the outer districts of Batman to participate in these actions and activities and the entry into the city center are banned for 5 days between June 10, 2024 and June 14, 2024.

It is learned from the news coverage of June 7, 2024, that 3 news reports on https://halktv.com.tr, https://artigercek.com and https://www.birgun.net, on the allegations of a bureaucrat kidnapping a contractor, were banned from access by Ankara Criminal Peace Judgeship No 3 on June 6, 2024, on the grounds of violation of personal rights, and the content was ordered to be deleted.
It is learned from the news coverage of June 8, 2024, that 3 news reports on https://www.diken.com.tr about sexual abuse allegations against a prosecutor in charge of Istanbul Anatolian Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office were banned from access by Istanbul Criminal Peace Judgeship No 7 on June 7, 2024, on the grounds of violation of personal rights, and the content was ordered to be deleted.
