(10/063) Torture and Ill-Treatment in Hakkari…
It is learned from the news coverage of October 7, 2022 that, 2 people including 1 child were subjected to torture and ill-treatment during the police raid to a house in Yüksekova district of Hakkari on October 3, 2022.
It is reported that 2 people were not given a medical report at Yüksekova Public Hospital evidencing the torture and ill-treatment, and their complaint was not put in process at the District Gendarmerie Command where they were said “Do not make complaint for nothing, you will be guilty”.
M. A., one of the persons in the house stated the following to the press: “They broke into the house before letting us to open the door. The police officers said ‘get down on the floor’ to my wife and handcuffed her behind the back and started to beat her with insults even before entering the home (…) My son cannot sleep and speak since then. He cannot speak due to fear. The police officer forcibly put my son in a room and beat them together.”

It is learned that 1 person (Mehmet Şirin Demirtaş) is detained on the grounds of social media posts, in Silopi district of Şırnak on October 6, 2022.
(10/066) Detained People in Izmir and Manisa…
It is learned that 16 people (Nazlıcan Yıldız, Emine Ekin, Baran Tink, Dilan Karakoç, Ayhan Bakır, Murat Tufan, İslam Çelik, Barış Kırmızıtaş, Taha Cihan, Murat Boztaş, Fırat Sak, Fırat Dikmen, Hanım Acar and 3 others) are detained in house raids in Izmir and Manisa through an Izmir based investigation on October 7, 2022.
(10/067) Retired Navy Officers on Trial for Their Statements…
The trial of the case against 103 retired Turkish Navy officers on the grounds of publishing a joint statement on the Montreux Straits Convention is held at Ankara Heavy Penal Court No. 20 on October 7, 2022. The prosecutor declared legal opinion on the case and demanded acquittal of 91 officers and sentence for 12 officers on the charge of “contracting to commit a crime against the security of the state or the constitutional order”. The court adjourned the trial to December 12, 2022.
(10/068) October 10 – Ankara Massacre Case…
The trial of the case against Erman Ekici and 16 fugitive defendants, for October 10 – Ankara Massacre, is held at Ankara Heavy Penal Court No. 4 on October 6, 2022. Erman Ekici, the only arrested defendant of the case joined the trial via sound and vision system. Kasım Güler, who is arrested over another case is heard as a witness at the trial. The court decided to continue detention of Erman Ekici and adjourned the trial to December 27, 2022.
19 defendants have been sentenced to jail sentences on August 3, 2018, at the final trial of the case on October 10 – Ankara Massacre and the case against 16 fugitives was separated.

It is learned that 2 contents on the website of the Freedom of Expression Association https://ifade.org.tr are banned to access on the grounds of violation of personal rights by Istanbul Anadolu Penal Court of Peace No. 4 on October 5, 2022.
It is learned that the news reports about the President’s former lawyer, published on https://www.birgun.net, https://www.gazeteduvar.com.tr, https://bianet.org websites are banned to access and ruled to be deleted on the grounds of violation of personal rights by Istanbul Anadolu Penal Court of Peace No. 4 on October 5, 2022.
It is learned that the news reports about the owner of Vogue Hotels, published on https://www.birgun.net, https://www.gazeteduvar.com.tr, https://www.cumhuriyet.com.tr websites are banned to access ruled to be deleted on the grounds of violation of personal rights by Istanbul Anadolu Penal Court of Peace No. 4 on October 5, 2022.
It is learned that some parts of 2 news reports published on https://www.birgun.net website and of news report published on https://www.evrensel.net related to Serhat Albayrak were decided to be removed on the grounds of violation of personal rights by Istanbul Penal Court of Peace No. 10 on October 6, 2022.
It is learned that 3 contents on the website of the Freedom of Expression Association https://ifade.org.tr are banned to access on the grounds of violation of personal rights by Istanbul Penal Court of Peace No. 10 on October 6, 2022.
