It is learned from the news coverage of March 7, 2025 that, Yaşar Çırak, a reporter for a local newspaper in Lapseki district of Çanakkale, was subjected to physical violence of a municipality council member from Justice and Development Party (AKP) and 2 executives of the same party and was injured.

It is learned from the news coverage of March 6, 2025 that, Peoples’ Democratic Congress (HDK) General Assembly member Esengül Demir was subjected to strip search torture in Istanbul Bakırköy Women’s Prison where she was taken after being arrested.
It is learned from the news coverage of March 6, 2025 that prisoners named Ferhat Aksoy, Mazlum Aksaç, Cihan Gökalp, Hümmet Deniz in Erzurum Dumlu High Security Prison No 2 were sent a book entitled “Qêrineke Bêdeng Rindêxan”, “Origin of Kurds: Proto Kurds and Mitannis”, “Kurds from Ottoman to Present”, “Crete”, “History of Freedom from Spartacus to Mazdek”, It is learned that the books titled “Modernity’s Mahsheri”, “Divine Law and Sociology”, “Social Truth”, “Smile O Dersim”, “No Death for Us”, “Hatıratım” and “The Sun of Courage Mahir Çayan”, “Yezda”, “Burseya Mountain” and “Nişancı” were not given to prisoners although there is no confiscation warrant for them.
It is learned from the news coverage of March 7, 2025 that, İbrahim Halil Bozkurt, a prisoner in Urfa T Type Prison No 2 was transferred to Erzincan High Security Prison against his will and was kept in a single room in this prison.

It is learned that the appeal made on March 6, 2025 to chief public prosecutor’s office in Bursa in order to visit PKK leader Abdullah Öcalan, Ömer Hayri Konar, Hamili Yıldırım and Veysi Aktaş in İmralı Prison was not responded.

Sami Tan and Ronayi Önen, authors of the Kurdish education book Hinker, who were detained through an Istanbul based investigation on March 5, 2025, were released by the criminal court of peace on March 6, 2025 with a ban on leaving the country.
2 people (İzzet Çınar, Şükran Çınar) were detained through the same investigation in Istanbul on March 6, 2025.
İzzet Çınar, Şükran Çınar and Mevlüt Aykoç, one of the authors of the book who was detained on March 5, 2025, were released by the criminal court of peace on judicial control conditions on March 7, 2025.

5 out of 21 members of Confederation of Public Employees Trade Unions (KESK) who were detained on March 4, 2025 through an Izmir based investigation were arrested on March 7, 2025 on the charges of ‘financing an illegal organization’ and ‘being an illegal organization member’. 16 people were released at least 8 of them on judicial control conditions.
The names of the arrested people are: Ünal Kaymak, Hayri Aktaş, Seda Kaya, Adem Savaş Bulgur and Doğanay Koğuş.

The final hearing of the lawsuit filed against Republican People’s Party (CHP) Chairman Özgür Özel for his remarks about the Minister of Defense was held at Ankara 16th Civil Court of First Instance on March 6, 2025. The court ruled Özgür Özel to pay 10,000 TL non-pecuniary damages to the Minister of Defense.
(03/043) Indictment Against City Council Members, Municipal Administrators in Istanbul…
The indictment prepared by Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office against 10 people including 2 deputy mayors and 7 municipal council members (Kartal Deputy Mayor Cemalettin Yüksel, Ataşehir Deputy Mayor Livan Gür, Üsküdar Municipal Council Member Bülent Kaygun, Sancaktepe Municipal Council Member Elif Gül, Fatih Municipal Council Member Güzin Alparslan, Tuzla Municipal Council Member Hasan Özdemir, Adalar Municipal Council Member Nesimi Aday, Şişli Municipal Council Member Sinan Gür, Beyoğlu Municipal Council Member Turabi Şen and a person named İ. P.) was accepted by Istanbul Heavy Penal Court No 23 on March 6, 2025. The indictment demands sentence for 10 people on the charge of ‘being an illegal organization member’.
10 people were detained on February 11, 2025 and arrested on February 13, 2025.
(03/044) Indictment Against Mayor in Istanbul…
On March 7, 2025, Istanbul Heavy Penal Court No 14 accepted the indictment prepared by Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office against Ahmet Özer, the trustee-appointed mayor of Esenyurt district of Istanbul. The indictment demands Ahmet Özer to be sentenced for ‘being an illegal organization member’. The first hearing of the case will be held on May 23, 2025.
Ahmet Özer was arrested on October 30, 2024.
(03/045) Journalist on Trial in Diyarbakır…
The retrial of the case against journalist Hatice Şahin on Diyarbakır Heavy Penal Court No 5 started on March 6, 2025. The indictment demands sentence for Hatice Şahin on the charge of ‘being an illegal organization member’.
The court decided to continue the ban on leaving the country and adjourned the trial to June 17, 2025.
(03/046) Television Channel Penalized by RTÜK…
It is learned from news coverage of March 6, 2025 that Radio and Television Supreme Council (RTÜK) sentenced Sözcü TV channel to 5 administrative fines and 5 program suspensions for the remarks made by a participant in ‘Aklın Yolu Program’.
