(06/073) Person Died in Prison…

It is learned that the prisoner named Hakan Kaşarlıoğlu, who was held in Denizli D Type Prison, died on June 4, 2022 due to a heart attack.

(06/074) Attack on Assyrian Family in Mardin…

It is learned that on June 6, 2022, the house belonging to the AssyrianYılmaz family living in Işıklar village of Kızıltepe district of Mardin was attacked with stones and guns by another family living in the same village, while those who attended the ceremony held in the village were also inside the house.

It is reported that the field belonging to the Assyrian family was also burned during the attack, where no one was killed or injured

(06/075) Torture and Other Ill-Treatment Under Custody in Istanbul…

It is learned from the news coverage of June 6, 2022, that a trans woman named M. K. was subjected to verbal transphobic violence by a watchman in Beyoğlu district of Istanbul on May 4, 2022 and was taken to Taksim Police Station by the police teams who came later using physical violence. It is reported that M. K. was also subjected to torture and other ill-treatment at the police station.

It is learned from the news coverage of June 6, 2022, that a prisoner named Mehmet Ali Aykal, held in Diyarbakır High Security Prison No. 2, was subjected to physical violence by soldiers on duty in Gazi Yaşargil Training and Research Hospital, where he was taken for treatment on June 3, 2022.

It is learned from the news coverage of June 7,2022, that an ill-prisoner named Önder Poyraz, who was held in Batman Beşiri T-Type Prison, was not treated.

(06/078) Police Intervention in Protest in Ankara…

The police intervened in the press declaration of Şişli Municipality workers in front of the Republican People’s Party (CHP) in Ankara on June 6, 2022 and forced people away from the building by using physical violence.

(06/079) Journalist Detained in Diyarbakır…

Dicle Müftüoğlu, co-chair of the Dicle Fırat Journalists Association (DFG) and one of the editors of the Mezopotamya Agency, who was detained in Diyarbakır on June 3, 2022, was released by the court on judicial control on judicial control conditions on June 6, 2022.

(06/080) Detained Political Party Executives and Other People in Van…

17 people, including the executives of the Peoples’ Democratic Party (HDP) and the Democratic Regions Party (DBP), were detained in the house raids in Van on June 3, 2022. 9 of them are arrested by the court on the charge of ‘being an illegal organisation member’ on June 6, 2022 while 8 people are released on judicial control conditions.

Arrested people are: DBP İpekyolu district co-chair Behice Abi, HDP Van provincial executive Ömer Işık, Salih İpek, Harun Okay, Yılmaz Berki, Atilla Kumli, Yakup Aslan, Evin Keskin and Abdulkerim Bayıt.

The trial of the case against HDP Hakkari MP and the Democratic Society Congress (DTK) Co-chair Leyla Güven, who has been stripped of MP status, is held at Diyarbakır Heavy Penal Court No 9 on June 6, 2022.

The indictment demands sentence for Leyla Güven on the charge of “making propaganda for an illegal organization”.

Leyla Güven did not attend the trial due to the malfunction in sound and vision system. The court adjourned the trial to July 4, 2022.

(06/082) Person on Trial in Urfa…

The final trial of the case against Emine Şenyaşar, on the grounds that she insulted the Minister of Interior and the Justice and Development Party (AKP) deputy candidate İbrahim Halil Yıldız and his family members in her statements during the justice watch she made, is held at Urfa Penal Court of First Instance No 2 on June 6, 2022. The court sentenced Emine Şenyaşar to pay a total compensation of 6,040 Turkish Liras and deferred the announcement of the verdict. On June 14, 2018, Justice and Development Party Urfa MP candidate İbrahim Halil Yıldız and his personal guards had a quarrel with shopkeepers in Suruç district of Urfa which resulted in death of Emine Şenyaşar’s husband Hacı Esved Şenyaşar and her sons Adil and Celal Şenyaşar.

It is learned that the website https://www.etha40.com of the Etkin News Agency (ETHA) is banned to access on the grounds of “protection of national security and public safety” by Diyarbakır Penal Court of Peace No 5 on June 6, 2022.

(06/084) Detentions and Arrests in Alleged Link to the Coup Attempt…

On June 7, 2022, 8 people were detained in operations covering 9 cities through an Istanbul-based investigation.

On 7 June 2022, 36 people were detained in operations covering 6 cities through another Istanbul based investigation.
