(12/059) Male Violence Monitoring Report…

According to the “Male Violence Monitoring Report” of Bianet published on December 7, 2022, at least 28 women got killed by men in November 2022. It is also reported that at least 53 women were subjected to violence, 9 women were harassed, 1 woman was raped and 4 children were abused by men in November 2022.

(12/060) Person Died by Police Fire in Istanbul…

It is learned that a person named P. G. died by the fire opened by a police officer who had a quarrel with them, in Fatih district of Istanbul.

Istanbul Provincial Security Directorate made the following statement: “In Langa Hisarı Yenikapı locality of Katip Kazım Mahallesi of Fatih, at around 18:50, an argument took place between police officer K. A., who was walking on the road in plain clothes, and 3 people (P. G.), (C. K.) and (B. A. P.), who were walking two pit-bull dogs on the same road. After the argument, police officer K. A. was injured in various parts of his body as a result of the attack of individuals with dogs. A person named P. G. was injured as a result of the fire opened by police officer K. A. with the service gun in order to defeat the attack. The injured (P. G.) could not be saved despite all the interventions in the hospital he was taken to and died.”

Police officer K. A. who was detained, is arrested by the court on the charge of ‘intentional killing’ on December 7, 2022.

(12/061) Parliamentary Member Subjected to Physical Violence in the Grand National Assembly…

It is learned that IYI Party Trabzon MP Hüseyin Örs, was subjected to physical violence of the Justice and Development Party (AKP) Bursa MP Zafer Işık during the ongoing 2023 budget negotiations at the General Assembly of the Turkish Grand National Assembly (TBMM), and was wounded on December 6, 2022.

The police intervened the press declaration which was made within the scope of “I Want My Job Back Protest” in front of Human Rights Monument in Yüksel Street on December 6, 2022 and forced people away from the monument by using physical violence.

(12/063) Academician on Trial in Ankara…

The final trial of the case against academician Mehmet Mutlu, on the charge of ‘being an illegal organisation member’ is held at Ankara Heavy Penal Court No. 19 on December 6, 2022. The court acquitted Mehmet Mutlu.

It is learned from the news coverage of December 7, 2022 that, the Socialist Refoundation Party (SYKP) central executive board member Talat Oruç was sentenced to 1 year and 8 months which was deferred by the court in the case that opened for his social media posts and participating in the funeral of a party member, Uğur Özkan, who died in Suruç Massacre.

(12/065) Prevention of HDP MP in the Grand National Assembly…

It is learned that the microphone of Peoples’ Democratic Party (HDP) Diyarbakır MP İmam Taşçıer, who spoke on behalf of his party during the ongoing 2023 budget negotiations in the General Assembly of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey on December 6, 2022, was turned off by the Deputy Speaker of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey, who chaired the session, on the grounds that he spoke in Kurdish.

(12/066) Detentions and Arrests in Alleged Link to Coup Attempt…

It is learned that 13 people were detained in operations covering 4 cities through an Istanbul based investigation and 22 people were detained in operations covering 8 cities through another Istanbul based investigation on December 7, 2022.
