(08/038) Male Violence Monitoring Report…

According to the “Record of Male Violence” published by Bianet, at least 28 women and 1 child were killed by men across Turkey in July 2026. The report also noted that men committed acts of violence against at least 54 women, harassed 13 women, abused 11 children, and forced 64 women into sex work.

(08/039) Prisoners Who Lost Their Lives in Prison…

According to news reports on August 6, 2026, it was learned that Şeyhmus Ateş (63), an inmate held at the Diyarbakır T-Type Prison whose health deteriorated during a hearing on June 4, 2026, in the case filed against him at the Diyarbakır Criminal Court of First Instance No. 26, was returned to prison instead of being taken to a hospital. It was reported that Şeyhmus Ateş, whose health deteriorated again two days later while in prison, died at the hospital to which he had been transferred.

(08/040) Individuals Detained in İzmir…

Hür Ağbaba, the older brother of Veli Ağbaba—a Member of Parliament from Malatya representing the New Party—and another individual named Ferat Yetişsin, who were detained on August 5, 2026, as part of an investigation into the İzmir Metropolitan Municipality, were arrested on August 6, 2026, by the magistrate’s court to which they were referred, on charges of “bid-rigging.”

It was reported that Bahar Yalçınkaya, who was deported by Switzerland on August 5, 2026, was taken into custody after being brought to Turkey and, on August 6, 2026, was arrested by the magistrate’s court to which she was referred on charges of making propaganda for an organization in her social media posts; she was subsequently placed in the Istanbul Bakırköy Women’s Prison along with her 15-month-old baby.

(08/042) Individuals Detained as Part of an Investigation Targeting the Kuşadası Municipality…

As part of an investigation launched by the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office targeting the Kuşadası Municipality in Aydın, 15 people were detained on allegations of “bribery” and “extortion” during simultaneous operations conducted in three provinces (Izmir, Aydın, and Antalya).

According to news reports published on August 5, 2026, it was learned that an investigation was launched against Sendika.org reporter Nisan Çıra on the grounds of “inciting the public to hatred and hostility” for sharing photos she took during the NATO protests in Ankara on her social media account.

According to news reports on August 6, 2026, it was learned that the Istanbul Bakırköy Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office had launched an investigation against journalist Burhan Can Terzi on the grounds of “publicly disseminating misleading information” regarding a reported transfer by the Galatasaray football team.

According to news reports on August 5, 2026, it was learned that access to the X social media account belonging to Toplumsal Muhalefet had been blocked.
