(04/082) Operations and Attacks…

It is learned from the news coverage of April 6, 2022 that, 5 HPG militants died in air operations of Turkish Armed Forces to Avaşin, Zap and Metina areas of Iraqi Kurdistan Regional Government on April 23, 2021.

It is learned that Mehmet Sevinç, an ill prisoner who was reported to have brain haemorrhage in the solitary cell he was kept in Manisa Akhisar Prison on April 3, 2022; lost his life at the hospital on April 7, 2022.

(04/084) Torture and Ill-Treatment in Prison…

It is learned from the news coverage of April 6, 2022 that, the letter of Muhlise Karagüzel, an ill prisoner in Kayseri Bünyan Prison to Jinnews agency was partially seized and partially censored by the prison administration.

It is learned from the news coverage of April 6, 2022 that, political prisoners in Denizli D and T Types of Prisons cannot use their right to have a 30-minute video call per week.

The police intervened the press declaration of Şişli Municipality workers in front of the Republican People’s Party (CHP) on April 6, 2022 and forced people away from the building by using physical violence.

(04/086) Detained People in Van…

It is learned that 13 people are detained in house raids in İpekyolu district of Van on April 6, 2022. The reason of detention is unknown. Detained people are: Peace Mothers’ Assembly member Türkan Işık, Gıyasettin Çevirel, Metin Duman, Gülcan Adar, Dilber Işık, İsmail Kaval, Hekim Cindioğlu, Muhsin Duman, Abdurrahman Dik, Gürgin Kara, Nafia Öztunç, Hazal Öztunç and Salih Kırat.

(04/087) People Harassed by Police in Istanbul…

It is learned from the news coverage of April 6, 2022, that the police came to Hazrat Umar Masjid in Güvercintepe neighbourhood of Başakşehir district of Istanbul which is used by Religious Scholars Aid and Solidarity Association (DIAYDER), every Friday before the prayer and recorded the people entering the mosque with a camera. 9 of 28 members of DİAYDER who were detained on July 3, 2021 were arrested, and a lawsuit was filed against 23 people on allegations of ‘being an illegal organisation member’ and ‘making propaganda for an illegal organization’. In addition, an indictment was prepared by the Istanbul Bakırköy Public Prosecutor’s Office on March 3, 2022, demanding the closure of the association.

(04/088) Union Executives and Members on Trial in Ankara…

The first trial of the case against 8 people, including the Health and Social Service Workers’ Union (SES) co-chair several central executive board members, is held at the Ankara 22. Heavy Penal Court on April 6, 2022. The indictment demands sentence for former co-chair Gönül Erden, Bedriye Yorgun, current co-chair Selma Atabey, former central executive board members Belkıs Yurtsever and Fikret Çağlayan, former Ankara Branch executives Rona Temelli, Erdal Turan and Ramazan Taş, on the charges of ‘being an illegal organisation member’ and ‘making propaganda for an illegal organisation’. After defence hearings, the court decided to continue detention of Gönül Erden and judicial control conditions for other defendants and adjourned the trial to a further date.

Gönül Erden was among those who were detained on May 25, 2021 through the investigation on members and executives of SES, and was released on June 1, 2021. She was detained once again on September 21, 2021 upon the prosecutor’s appeal and was arrested by the court.

It is learned from the news coverage of April 6, 2022, that the Radio and Television Supreme Council (RTUK) issued Halk TV, KRT TV and Tele1 TV channels with administrative fines, for the news reports about sexual assault to children at a Quran course in Erzurum.

(04/090) Ban of Access to Web Contents…

It is learned from the news coverage of April 6, 2022 that, Ankara Provincial Gendarmerie Command has investigated 2,468 social media accounts and reported 387 websites to be banned to access on the grounds of ‘illegal activity’ from January 1 to March 31, 2022.

(04/091) Trials in Alleged Link to Coup Attempt…

The final trial of the case against Osman Karaca is held at Istanbul Heavy Penal Court No 29 on April 6, 2022. The court sentenced the defendant to 7 years and 6 months on the charge of ‘being an illegal organisation member’.

(04/092) Covid-19 Pandemic…

The Ministry of Health declared that 41 people died due to Covid-19 pandemic and the daily number of Covid-19 cases is 10,314 as of April 6, 2022.

The death toll from Covid-19 in Turkey increased to 98,275 and total number of confirmed ill patients is 14,929,905 as of April 6, 2022.
