Security Forces raided a house in Xaçort quarter İpekyolu district in Van. of Mustafa Duman (18) who was shot at head in the garden of his house next to the raided house when Security Forces opened fire and hospitalised died on 6 September 2016 in the hospital.

2 militants were allegedly killed during the operations conducted on 6 September 2016 in the rural area of Eruh district in Siirt.
5 militants were killed during an armed clash that broke out on 6 September 2016 nearby the Kuyutepe military base in Şırnak.
1 soldier who was wounded during the operations conducted in the rural area of Çukurca district in Hakkari died on 8 September 2016 in the hospital in Ankara.
Governorate of Diyarbakır imposed curfew in 13 villages of Lice, Hazro and Kocaköy districts on the grounds of military operations to be conducted in the region.

Naciye Özdemir (71) was killed when hit by an armoured vehicle on 6 September 2016 in Tunceli. She was reportedly crossing the road.

Worker’s Health and Job Safety Assembly announced on 5 September 2016 that at least 199 workers died in August 2016 during work accidents due to untaken security measures. At least 1250 workers died in first 8 months of 2016.

Jiyan Öztürk who was suffering from epilepsy and arrested in Mardin 6 months ago was released on 7 September 2016 from Mardin E-type Prison relying on the pre-trial detention period she served in prison.

Mersin Penal Court of First Instance No 12 concluded on 6 September 2016 to hear the case against academics in Mersin University Hakan Mertcan, Mustafa Şener and Selim Çakmaklı launched on charges of “insulting the State President” and “insulting public officers” through facebook posts:

25 lawyers including Progressive Lawyers Association (Çağdaş Hukukçular Derneği – ÇHD) Vice-Chair Münip Ermiş, former ÇHD member Hakan Evcin and Antalya Bar Association board member Lider Tanrıkulu were detained on 8 September 2016 in Antalya in connection with the “Gülenist Movement terror organisation FETÖ/PDY” investigation.

The police intervened a group of lawyers who wanted to stage an action on 9 September 2016 in front of İzmir Court House to protest in the detention of lawyers in Antalya. 25 persons were detained during the police intervention.

Erciş (Van) Heavy Penal Court continued on 6 September 2016 to hear the case against 23 persons including Erciş Co-Mayor Diba Keskin launched on charges of ““disrupting the unity and territorial integrity of the state”. Diba Keskin was arrested on 15 October 2015 for “taking part in the declaration of self-governance” and transferred to Sincan (Ankara) Women’s Prison. She was suspended from duty on 28 October 2015 by the Ministry of Interior Affairs. 11 defendants are remanded in this case.
After the testimonies of the remanded defendants through SEGBİS teleconference system, the court decided for the continuation of the arrest of the remanded defendants and adjourned the hearing to 3 November 2016.
(09/020) Persons on Trial in İzmir…
İstanbul Heavy Penal Court No 14 continued on 7 September 2016 to hear the case aganst against 50 lawyers including 9 members of Libertarian Lawyers Association (Özgürlükçü Hukukçular Derneği – ÖHD) who were detained during the house raids conducted on 16 March 2016 in 16 districts of İstanbul. 6 defendants were remanded in the case.
The indictment wants the defendants to be sentenced for “being member or leading member of an illegal organisation”, “making propaganda of an illegal organisation”, and “aiding an illegal organisation”.
Remanded defendants including ÖHD members Ramazan Demir and Ayşe Acinikli testified at the hearing. The court decided to release all the remanded defendants to be tried without remand and adjouned the hearing to a later date.
(09/021) Children Convicted in Mardin…
Midyat (Mardin) Heavy Penal Court concluded on 8 September 2016 to hear the case against 7 children who were arrested after being detained on 1 December 2015 during the blockade in Dargeçit district of Mardin.
The children who were incarcerated in Şakran (İzmir) Juvenile Prison testified at the hearing through SEGBİS teleconference system as to the accusations. The court sentenced H.T. (14), İ.A. (17), F.T. (17) and K.S. (17) to 23 years’ imprisonment for “disrupting the unity and territorial integrity of the state”, “violating the Law on Fire Arms”, and “being member of an illegal organisation”.
The court also decided to separate the case against B.A. (14), R.A. (14) and Ö.K., and adjourned the hearing to 29 September 2016.
(09/022) Detentions and Arrests…
Peoples’ Democratic Party executive for Siirt province Telaeddin Üzüm was detained on 6 September 2016 while leaving the party premises. He was arrested on the same day on the allegations of “making propaganda of an illegal organisation”.
Agit Adsoy, Cemil Sayın and Musa Alnıaçık who were among 10 persons detained in Mersin 24 days ago were arrested on 6 September 2016 on the allegations of “possible attempt of escape”.
The police conducted house raids on 6 September 2016 in İskenderpaşa quarter of Sur district in Diyarbakır. 24 persons were detained during the operations.
Rabia Özkaya who was detained during the raid of the Free People magazine (Özgür Halk Dergisi) premises in İzmir was arrested on 6 September 2016 on the allegations of “making propaganda of an illegal organisation”.
Arap Turan and Ferit Toprak who were among 11 workers of the Kurdish daily Azadiya Welat detained during operations in Diyarbakır were arrested on 6 September 2016 on the allegations of “being member of an illegal organisation”.
Abdurrahman Zorlu, Co-Mayor of Hani district in Diyarbakır, was detained during a house raid on 8 September 2016.
Mehmet Ali Çintan who was detained during a house raid in Mersin was arrested on 7 September 2016 on the allegations of “making propaganda of an illegal organisation” with the messages shared on social media.
