(09/071) Operations and Attacks…
The Ministry of Interior announced on 8 September 2024 that 4 soldiers (Ömer Eroğlu, Mehmet Aykanat, Orhan Burak Büyükçaylı, Doğan Kızılateş) died and 1 soldier (Muhammet Koyuncu) was wounded when an armoured vehicle overturned in the Ovacık district of Tunceli.
It is learned from the news coverage of 8 September 2024 that, 3 militants died in the clashes between Turkish Armed Forces units and HPG militants in the Hakurk area of the Iraqi Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) on 20 and 21 July 2024.
The Ministry of National Defence announced on 9 September 2024 that 1 soldier (Ömer Fatih Ayar) who was wounded in a clash between security forces and HPG militants during an ongoing military operation in the Gara region of the Iraqi Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) died in hospital.

It is learned from the news coverage of 8 September 2024 that Ahmet Mahmut Ünlü, popularly known as ‘Cübbeli Ahmet Hoca’, was subjected to verbal and physical violence by a person named A. A. after an event in the Küçükçekmece district of Istanbul. It is also reported in the news that an investigation was initiated and A. A. was detained.
(09/073) Discriminatory and Racist Threats by Gendarmerie Personnel against People in Şırnak…
It is learned from the news coverage of September 7, 2024, that a gendarmerie personnel named H. T., who was on duty in the Uludere district of Şırnak and had the JİTEM emblem and the inscription ‘Only the dead see’ dedicated to Cem Ersever written on the back window of his white Toros car, was suspended and an investigation was initiated by the Governorate.
(09/074) People Threatened by a Police Officer in Hakkari…
It is learned from the news coverage of 7 September 2024 that, at a meeting of the residents of a residential complex in the Yüksekova district of Hakkari, who had complaints about a police officer, the police officer walked towards the residents and threatened them with the statements ‘Who are you to be disturbed by me? I will not leave this building and I will be your persecutor’. It is also reported in the news that the threatened residents went to the police station and filed a complaint against the police officer.

It is learned that the appeal made on September 6, 2024, to the Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office in Bursa by PKK leader Abdullah Öcalan’s family and tutelary along with the families and tutelary of Ömer Hayri Konar, Hamili Yıldırım and Veysi Aktaş in İmralı Prison was not responded.
(09/076) Police Intervention Against Protests in Istanbul and Diyarbakır about The Killing of a Girl Named Narin Güran…
On September 8, 2024, the police prevented the group gathering in front of Democratic Regions Party (DBP) provincial office in Diyarbakır to march after Narin Güran (8, k), a child who has not been heard from since August 21, 2024, and who was found dead. It is reported that no one was detained during the intervention.
It is learned that on September 8, 2021, the police barricaded the group gathering in front of a plaza in the Yenişehir district of Diyarbakır for the same reason and prevented the group from marching. It is reported that no one was detained.
It is learned that 3 people who participated in a protest for the same reason in the Kadıköy district of Istanbul on September 8, 2024, were detained by the police after a police check. The names of detainees could not be learned.
It is learned that the police prevented the press statement for the same cause in the Beyoğlu district of Istanbul on September 8, 2024, and detained 7 people. Detained 7 people were released after statement procedures at the police station on September 9, 2024. The names of the detainees could not be learned.
(09/077) Halkevi Executive Arrested and Others Detained in Artvin…
Artvin Halkevi executive Dursun Ali Koyuncu, Yıllar Kibar, and Mutlu Akyüz were detained during house raids on 7 September 2024 for the protests on 3 September 2024 against the declaration of an area in the Cankurtaran district of Borçka district of Artvin as a tourism zone and the coming of the subcontractor company Candeniz Kerestecilik to the area to cut down trees. Dursun Ali Koyuncu was arrested by the criminal peace judgeship on the same date on the allegations of ‘insulting a public officer’ and ‘resisting to prevent duty’. Yıllar Kibar and Mutlu Akyüz were released on judicial control conditions.
Reşit Kibar lost his life and Ersan Koyuncu and Gökhan Koyuncu were wounded during the protests due to the fire opened by Muhammet Ustabaş, one of the owners of Candeniz Kerestecilik.

It is learned from the news coverage of September 7, 2024, that Çorlu Public Prosecutor’s Office issued an indictment against Mısra Öz, whose child Oğuz Arda Sel (9, e) lost his life in the train crash that killed 25 people and injured 328 people in the Çorlu district of Tekirdağ on July 8, 2018; on the grounds of the expressions she used during the trial held at Çorlu Heavy Penal Court No 1 on June 25, 2020. The indictment demands a sentence for Mısra Öz on the charge of ‘insulting a public officer due to his/her duty’.

It is learned from the news coverage of September 6, 2024, that an investigation was initiated against Melek Avcı, reporter of JINNEWS in Ankara, on the grounds of ‘making propaganda for an illegal organization’ through her social media posts; and that Melek Avcı gave her official statement at the police station.
(09/080) Party Member, TJA Activist and Others on Trial in Şırnak…
The final trial of the case against 4 people, about Tahir Güven, brother of Justice and Development Party (AKP) district chair Cihan Güven, who died in an armed assault in the Cizre district of Şırnak on December 4, 2021; was held at Şırnak Heavy Penal Court No 2 on September 6, 2024. The court sentenced Peoples’ Democratic Party (HDP) Youth Assembly member M. Miraç Dinç to 2 times aggravated life imprisonment on the charges of “disrupting the unity and integrity of the state” and “intentional killing”, Emin Kalkan to life imprisonment on the same charges, and acquitted Abdullah Kaçmaz and TJA activist Dorşin Sümeyye Gök.

It is learned from the news coverage of 8 September 2024 that, people who wanted to go to the Meydîn village in Şırnak, where entrances and exits are banned on the grounds of being in an area declared as a special security zone, were prevented by soldiers despite of the permission given by the Governorate of Şırnak.

It is learned from the news coverage of 6 September 2024 that, 3 contents of https://www.gercekgundem.com, https://www.gazetepencere.com and https://www.cumhuriyet.com.tr related to allegations against an imam and a non-commissioned officer on duty in Van, were banned from access by Van Criminal Peace Judgeship No 3 on 2 September 2024, on the grounds of protection of national security and public order; and that the content was ordered to be deleted.
It is learned from the news coverage of 6 September 2024 that, 1 content on https://www.sabah.com.tr related to the allegations that Karabük Safranbolu Mayor approved an illegal villa built by his relative, was banned from access by Safranbolu Criminal Peace Judgeship on 6 September 2024.

Ministry of National Defence (MSB) announced on 6 September 2024 that 2 people who were allegedly trying to illegally cross from Turkey to Greece were detained due to ‘being a member of an illegal organization’.
