(11/083) Operations and Attacks in Southeast…

It is learned from the news coverage of November 7, 2020 that, 1 militant died in a clash between security forces and HPG militants in Avaşin area of Iraqi Kurdistan Regional Government on November 6, 2020.

It is learned from the news coverage of November 8, 2020 that, 2 militants died in a clash between security forces and HPG militants in rural areas of Diyarbakır on October 3, 2020.

(11/084) Labour Killings…

Worker Health and Worker Safety Council (ISIG) revealed that at least 207 workers including 8 children, 14 women, and 12 refugees died while working in October 2020. It is stated in the report that 52 workers died from Covid-19.

(11/085) Torture and Ill-Treatment in Prison…

It is learned from the news coverage of November 7, 2020 that, in Koaceli Gebze Women’s Prison, prisoners were not given any meals until the evening on November 5, 2020.

It is learned from the news coverage of November 8, 2020 that, 25 prisoners were kept in wards for 12 people in Afyon T Type Prison.

It is learned from the news coverage of November 6, 2020 that, Ramazan Çınar, an ill prisoner with cancer, who was taken to Çukurova University Balcalı Hospital for treatment, was said “your medication is not delivered to us” and was not given his chemotherapy drugs which should be given once in every 14 days.

(11/087) Police Intervention to Solidarity Stands in Izmir…

On November 7, 2020, the police intervened and moved the solidarity tents at 75. Yıl Park in Bayraklı district of Izmir, which were set up by Izmir Community Houses members to distribute vital supplies to the survivors of the earthquake; and detained 8 people. It is also learned that the police seized supplies at the tent and removed them from the area with a van of Turkish Red Crescent. Izmir city was hit by an earthquake on October 30, 2020 killing 114 people and injuring 1035 people.

The police intervened the tent of Solidarity Network on the same day and detained 2 people (Sultan Özbek and Nazlı Yöller). It is learned that detained people were released on the same day.

(11/088) Police Intervention to Students’ Protest in Ankara…

The police intervened the press declaration in Ankara on November 6, 2020 to protest The Council of Higher Education which was established on that day 39 years ago; and detained 32 people by using physical violence.

Detained people were released after statement procedures at the police on the same day.

Zeynep Kurt, one of the detainees, stated the following on police violence, in news reports on November 7, 2020: “They started to push us into the shuttles. We were faced with a very harsh intervention, they took our flags and hit my mouth with them. They hit my friends’ heads on the ground, they pulled their hair to get them in the detention vehicle. They tried to get my identity card and cell phone without permit, and tried to open my handbag. When I said I would not give them, ‘We would strip you to get them if needed’ they said.”

Irem Naz Çelik, another detainee stated the following: “The police intervened as soon as they arrived, they tore off our hand banners. They pulled my hair while they were taking my cell phone. They kicked one of my friend’s head in the detention vehicle because this friend was resisting.”

(11/089) Police Intervention to Union Protest in Ankara…

The police prevented the press declaration of Ankara branches of Confederation of Public Employees Unions (KESK) at Sakarya Street, Ankara on November 7, 2020, to mark the 4th year of dismissal of public employees by state of emergence decrees. It is learned that the press declaration was held at Office, Banking and Insurance Employees’ Union (BES) Ankara branch office.

(11/090) Police Intervention to a Protest in Tunceli…

The police intervened the press declaration on November 6, 2020, organized by Dersim Women’s Platform, to protest sexual abuse that a woman was subjected at her workplace in Tunceli. It is learned that nobody was detained.

(11/091) Detained Union Members in Diyarbakır…

28 members of Education and Science Workers’ Union (Eğitim-Sen) were detained through an investigation against Democratic Society Congress (DTK) in Diyarbakır on November 6, 2020. It is learned that 3 of them were released after statement procedures on November 6, 2020, and 8 of them were released on November 7, 2020. It is also learned that 2 women (Hacer Alp and Zeynep Alak) have 5-month-old and 8-month-old babies.

Released people are: Mehmet Emin Uzel, Remzi Mehmetoğlu, Nuri Aras, Hamdin Öztekin, Tahir Çetin, Mehmet Emin İldeniz, Murat Derince, Cihan Yaşdemir, Hacer Alp, Ruken Çelik and Pınar Çetin.

(111/092) Detained Lawyer in Istanbul…

Sinan Varlık, lawyer and a member of Revolutionary Party is detained in a house raid in Istanbul on November 6, 2020. Sinan Varlık is arrested by the court on November 8, 2020.

(11/093) Detained People in Mardin…

On November 6, 2020, 4 of 12 people who were detained in Mardin through an investigation against Democratic Society Congress (DTK), are referred to the court. It is learned that 1 person (Lokman Fındık) is arrested and 3 people (Edip Dursun, Sakine Yılmaz and Siraç Dinç) are released on judicial control conditions. 5 more people were detained through this investigation including Ayşe Gökkan, spokesperson of Tevgera Jinên Azad – Free Women’s Movement (TJA), and they were released later.

(11/094) Detained Newspaper Employee in Adana…

İbrahim Karakaş, an employee of Yeni Yaşam newspaper, who was detained at Adana Courthouse where he was called through an investigation against him, on November 4, 2020, is arrested by the court on the charge of ‘being an illegal organisation member’ on November 7, 2020.

(11/095) Detained People in Adana for Social Media Posts…

3 people (H. Y., Ö. K. and M. Ö.) who were detained for social media posts, in Adana on November 6, 2020, are released by the court on judicial control conditions on November 8, 2020.

(11/096) Detained People in Adana…

2 people (E. D. and Ş. B.) among 7 people who were detained on October 30, 2020 in Adana, are arrested by the court on the charges of ‘being an illegal organisation member’ and ‘aiding an illegal organisation member’ on November 6, 2020. It is learned that 5 people are released after statement procedures at the police.

(11/097) Former Mayor on Trial…

The final trial of the case against Mustafa Uyguner, former mayor of Dicle district of Diyarbakır and Kayapınar district co-chair of Democratic Regions Party (DBP) and Sevim Adsoy, the other district co-chair of DBP, is held at Diyarbakır Heavy Penal Court No 8 on November 6, 2020.

The court sentenced Mustafa Uyguner to 7 years and 6 months on the charge of ‘being an illegal organisation member’ and acquitted Sevim Adsoy.

Mustafa Uyguner and Sevim Adsoy were detained in Diyarbakır and they were arrested on February 15, 2020.

(11/098) Former Mayor on Trial…

The first trial of the case against Şükrü Çallı, former mayor of Hakkari, is held at Hakkari Heavy Penal Court No 1 on November 6, 2020.

The indictment demands sentence for Şükrü Çallı on the charge of ‘being an illegal organisation member’.

Şükrü Çallı joined the trial via sound and vision system from prison. The court decided to release Şükrü Çallı and adjourned the trial.

Şükrü Çallı was detained through the investigation against Democratic Society Congress on August 14, 2020 and was arrested on August 18, 2020.

(11/099) Former MP on Trial…

The indictment of Diyarbakır Public Prosecutor’s Office against Emine Ayna, former co-chair of DBP and former Diyarbakır MP, is accepted by Diyarbakır Heavy Penal Court No 4 on November 6, 2020.

The indictment demands jail sentence from 8 years to 18 years for Emine Ayna, on the charges of ‘being an illegal organisation member’ and ‘participating in unlawful assembly or demonstrations and resist despite the warning’. It is learned that the indictment demands consolidation of this case with another case on the same charges.

(11/100) Association Executive on Trial in Diyarbakır…

The trial of the case against Elif Haran, co-chair of Solidarity Association of Prisoners’ Families (TUAY-DER) is held at Diyarbakır Heavy Penal Court No 10 on November 6, 2020.

Elif Haran joined the trial from prison via sound and vision system.

After defence hearings the court decided to release Elif Haran on judicial control conditions and adjourned the trial.

Elif Haran was detained on July 14, 2020 and was arrested by the court on July 18, 2020.

(11/101) Journalist on Trial in Istanbul…

The final trial of the case against journalist Sezgin Kartal, for his social media posts about the massacre of Al-Nusra Front in Syria in 2015, and for events that he participated in, is held at Hatay Heavy Penal Court No 2 on November 6, 2020.

It is learned that the court sentenced Sezgin Kartal to 18 months and 22 days on the charge of ‘making propaganda for an illegal organisation’ and did not suspend the sentence.

(11/102) Lawyer on Trial in Ankara…

The final trial of the case against lawyer Kenan Maçoğlu from HDP’s Law Committee, on the charge of ‘insulting the President’ by making a criminal complaint against President Tayyip Erdoğan and ministers back then, following the testimony of Reza Zarrab before the court in the USA, is held at Ankara Heavy Penal Court No 8 on November 6, 2020.

The court acquitted Kenan Maçoğlu.

(11/103) Ban on Events in Muğla…

Muğla Governorate made a declaration on November 6, 2020 and announced that, all events such as demonstrations and meetings; press declarations, opening stands, collecting petitions, distributing leaflets, making convoys, commemorations and so on are banned for 2 days as of November 7, 2020. It is learned that the ban decision is particularly for the press declaration of HPD Women’s Assembly which will be held in Muğla on November 7, 2020, as a part of “Struggle Against Male State Violence” campaign.

It is learned from the news coverage of November 6, 2020 that, “The Deception of Fund for Severance Payments” and “Benefice of Family Company…” prepared by Republican People’s Party (CHP) are banned to be published by Nevşehir Penal Court of Peace and ruled to be pulled off the shelf.

(11/105) Ban of Access to Web Contents…

It is learned that the news reports about ban of access to news reports of Milli Gazete, which is published on https://www.milligazete.com.tr/ is also banned to access on the grounds of violation of personal rights, by Bakırköy Penal Court of Peace No 6 on November 4, 2020.

It is learned that the news report about an employee of Turkish Religious Foundation, which are published on https://www.cumhuriyet.com.tr/, https://www.gercekgundem.com/, https://www.birgun.net/ are banned to access on the grounds of violation of personal rights, by Ankara Penal Court of Peace No 8 on November 4, 2020.

(11/106) Administrative Fine for TV Channels…

On November 6, 2020, the Radio and Television Supreme Council (RTUK) issued four television channels with administrative fines. Kanal D television channel is fined for “demonstration of extramarital affairs as normal” in the series “Sadakatsiz”, FOX TV channel is fined for “damaging the reputation of teachers” in the series “Öğretmen”, TELE1 and Halk TV television channels are fined for news programmes.

(11/107) Detentions and Arrests in Alleged Link to Coup Attempt…

On November 6, 2020, 60 people are detained in operations covering 37 cities through an Ankara based investigation and 3 people are detained in Ankara.

On November 7, 2020, 1 person is detained in Ankara.

(11/108) Covid-19 Pandemic…

The Ministry of Health declared that 83 people died due to Covid-19 pandemic and 2,436 new Covid-19 ill patients were diagnosed on November 6, 2020.

The Ministry of Health declared that 81 people died due to Covid-19 pandemic and 2,483 new Covid-19 ill patients were diagnosed on November 7, 2020.

The Ministry of Health declared that 84 people died due to Covid-19 pandemic and 2,516 new Covid-19 ill patients were diagnosed on November 8, 2020.

The death toll from Covid-19 in Turkey increased to 10,887 and total number of confirmed ill patients is 395,255 as of November 8, 2020.

It is learned that doctor Sami İpek in Kayseri died from Covid-19 on November 7, 2020.

It is learned that doctor Salim Akın in and doctor Galip Orhan Ahıshalı in Ankara died from Covid-19 on November 8, 2020.
