(09/043) Asylum Seeker Died in Hatay…
It is learned that Faris Muhammed Al-Ali, a Syrian asylum seeker, died as a result of an attack on September 3, 2022. It is reported that 2 people were arrested in connection with the attack.
Deysem Siti from Refugee Media stated the following: “While working at the factory, Faris collided with a chief worker woman 10 days ago. The woman yells at him. Faris, on the other hand, apologizes, stating that he accidentally clashed. On September 3, Faris and his friend Abdurrahman were stopped by 5 people between the ages of 16 and 19 after they leave work. Among them is the son of the woman he collided with. He says to Faris, ‘Did you hit my mother?’, and he says, ‘It happened by mistake, I apologized, it is okay’. They took them to a secluded spot, saying, “Walk with us.” Their aim was not to beat, but to kill. They hit Abdurrahman on the head and stabbed Faris in the back and ran away.”
(09/044) Person Died by Police Fire in Mardin…
On September 1, 2022, a person named Adem Kara (21) died by the fire opened by the police on the grounds of “disobeying stop warning” in the market place of Midyat district of Mardin. It is learned that a police officer whose name is unknown was detained in relation to the incident and was arrested on September 5, 2022.

It is learned from the news coverage of September 5, 2022 that, Şiyar Yıldırım, a prisoner in Eskişehir H Type Prison was subjected to strip search and was threatened by the correction officers saying “This is not torture, you have not been tortured yet”, when he reacted saying “down with torture”.

It is learned that the appeal made on September 6, 2022 to chief public prosecutor’s office in Bursa by the lawyers of PKK leader Abdullah Öcalan, in order to visit him was not responded.
(09/047) Police Intervention to a Protest in Ankara…
The police prevented the press declaration of prisoners’ families in front of Ankara Sincan Women’s Prison on September 5, 2022. It is learned that the lawyers who reacted against the prevention were subjected to physical and verbal violence of the police.
(09/048) Police Intervention Against “I Want My Job Back” Protest in Ankara…
The police intervened the press declaration which was made within the scope of “I Want My Job Back Protest” in front of Human Rights Monument in Yüksel Street on September 5, 2022 and forced people away from the monument by using physical violence.
(09/049) Lawyer on Trial for ‘Insulting the President’ in Istanbul…
The trial of the case against lawyer Efkan Bolaç, on the grounds of insulting the President in a social media post, is held at Istanbul Penal Court of First Instance No. 52 on September 6, 2022.
Efkan Bolaç stated in his defence that Tayyip Erdoğan was not the President at the time of this social media post, and his lawyer also stated that no permission was granted from the Ministry of Justice for legal proceedings against Efkan Bolaç who is also a lawyer. After defence hearings the court adjourned the trial to January 24, 2023.
(09/050) HDP Executive on Trial in Diyarbakır…
The trial of the case against Sevim Akdağ, former member of the central executive board of the Peoples’ Democratic Party (HDP) is held at Diyarbakır Heavy Penal Court No. 8 on September 6, 2022. Sevim Akdağ joined the trial via sound and vision system from prison. After defence hearings the court decided to continue detention of Sevim Akdağ and adjourned the trial to November 24, 2022.
(09/051) Investigation Against Journalist…
It is learned from the news coverage of September 5, 2022 that, Istanbul Public Prosecutor’s Office launched an investigation against journalist Can Dündar, on the charge of ‘degrading Turkish Nation, State of Turkish Republic, the organs and institutions of the state’ in accordance with the Article 301 of Turkish Penal Code, over a social media post he did citing the cover page of humour magazine Leman.
