It is learned from the news coverage of July 5, 2021 that, 3 militants died in a clash between Turkish Armed Forces units and HPG militants in Avaşin area of Iraqi Kurdistan Regional Government on April 23, 2021.

It is learned from the news coverage of July 5, 2021 that, a prisoner, Adem Taşdemir, lost his life in Ağrı Patnos L Type Prison. It is stated in the news reports that prison administration has informed Adem Taşdemir’s family of his death as suicide.
(07/051) Meeting Request with Abdullah Öcalan Not Responded…
It is learned that the appeal made on July 5, 2021 to chief public prosecutor’s office in Bursa by PKK leader Abdullah Öcalan’s lawyers in order to visit their client was not responded.
(07/052) HDP Executive Forces to be a Police Informant in Urfa…
It is learned from the news coverage of July 5, 2021 that, Peoples’ Democratic Party (HDP) Birecik district co-chair Ömer Karadağ was forced to be a police informant.
Ömer Karadağ stated the following: “They were taking my photographs, and I reacted to this. I asked ‘I am district co-chair you know me, why do you take my photographs, to get me killed or what?’. Then the police officers came into the district office and threatened me, they forced me to be a police informant and said ‘You will inform us about who comes here and what you do together’. And they threatened me saying ‘We will never leave you alone, you will never feel free without us’.
(07/053) Police Intervention to a Protest in Ankara…
The police intervened the justice watch of HDP members, in front of Sincan Prison Compound on July 6, 2021; to protest unlawful imprisonment of HDP Kocaeli MP Ömer Faruk Gergerlioğlu although the Constitutional Court has ruled immediate release of him on July 1, 2021.
It is learned that journalists were subjected to physical violence of the police and their equipment were seized by the police.
Ömer Faruk Gergerlioğlu’s son Salih Gergerlioğlu, Bahadır Demircan, Ali İmran Daşkaya, Melek Çetinkaya and Artı TV cameraman Nazım Fayık are detained by using physical violence.
Detained people are released on the same day, provided that Artı TV cameraman Nazım Fayık will be on judicial control conditions.

The police intervened the sit-in protest in Bakırköy Square of Istanbul on July 5, 2021, organized by public employees to demand their jobs back from which they had been dismissed by state of emergency decrees, and detained 1 person (Nursel Tanrıverdi). Nursel Tanrıverdi is released after statement procedures on the same day.

The police stopped the miners marching from soma district of Manisa to Ankara on July 6, 2021, for their compensation rights. It is learned that the workers held a sit-in protest after they were not allowed into city.

On July 5, 2021, HDP Inegöl district executive Köksal Söylemez is detained in a house raid in Bursa. The reason of detention is unknown.
(07/057) Police Intervention to People Distributing Leaflets in Ankara…
9 people who were detained by the police while distributing leaflets about 6th year of Suruç Massacre, at Dikmen Ahmet Arif Park in Çankaya district of Ankara on July 4, 2021, are released by the court on judicial control conditions on July 5, 2021.
(07/058) Boğaziçi University Students on Trial…
The trial of the case against 7 students of Boğaziçi University, on the grounds of a picture depicting Kaaba at an exhibition as part of protests against the new rector appointed to the university, is held at Istanbul Penal Court of First Instance No 21 on July 5, 2021.
Two private security officers are heard as witnesses at the trial. The defence lawyers demanded recusation on the grounds of biased behaviour of the court board. The court rejected recusation and send the demand to a higher court and adjourned the trial to November 17, 2021.

It is learned that the news reports about Izmir Provincial Director of National Education, published on https://www.diken.com.tr, https://www.evrensel.net, https://www.a3haber.com websites are banned to access on the grounds of violation of personal rights by Izmir Penal court of Peace No 1 on July 4, 2021.
It is learned that 133 news reports including the ones on Uşak Governor yelling at people during her inspection of precautions for Covid-19 in the city, are banned to access on the grounds of violation of personal rights by Antalya Penal court of Peace No 1 on July 5, 2021.

1 person who was detained in Izmir is arrested by the court on July 5, 2021.
(07/061) Covid-19 Pandemic…
The Ministry of Health declared that 35 people died due to Covid-19 pandemic and the daily number of Covid-19 cases is 4,678 as of July 5, 2021.
The death toll from Covid-19 in Turkey increased to 49,959 and total number of confirmed ill patients is 5,449,464 as of July 6, 2021.
