(04/045) Meeting Request with Abdullah Öcalan Not Responded…

It is learned that the appeal made on April 5, 2021 to chief public prosecutor’s office in Bursa by PKK leader Abdullah Öcalan’s lawyers in order to visit their client was not responded.

(04/046) Police Intervention to a Protest in Istanbul…

The police used physical violence to intervene the press declaration of Migros grocery store workers in front of Migros CEO Tuncay Özilhan’s villa on April 5, 2021. The workers at Migros warehouse in Çayırova district of Kocaeli were dismissed after being members of Warehouse, Harbour, Dock and Sea Workers Union (DGD-SEN). It is learned that 1 person fainted in the police intervention; detained people (the number is unknown) are released after statement procedures on the same day.

(04/047) Police Intervention to a Protest in Istanbul…

The police intervened the group protesting urban transformation project and preventing the officers came to cut electricity, water and gas off in Eyüpsultan district of Istanbul on April 5, 2021. The number and names of detained people are unknown.

(04/048) Detained Mayor, Political Party and Association Members and Executives and Journalist in Diyarbakır…

On April 5, 2021, 22 people including Çınar district mayor Necla Tamriş, Democratic Regions Party (DBP) central executive board member Zeynep Üren and Jinnews reporter Beritan Canözer are detained in house raids in Diyarbakır.

Some of the detained people are: Necla Tamriş, Zeynep Üren, Beritan Canözer, DBP provincial co-chair Seval Gülmez, Peoples’ Democratic Party (HDP) Diyarbakır MP Remziye Tosun’s press consultant Gurbet Özel, TJA activists Zelal Bilgin and Sevim Biçici, Peace Mother Nezahat Teke, Diyarbakır Women’s Academy member Figen Aras, HDP Kayapınar district former co-chair Besile Narin, Diyarbakır city council members Bahar Karakaş Uluğ, Şehriban Zoğurli, Ruken Bekalp, MED-DER co-chair Şilan Kan, Socialist Women Assemblies central executive board member Satiye Ok and Nurşen Akbal, Ayşan Kanuş Zengin, Leyla Akgül.

It is learned that Satiye Ok was on house confinement after she was detained on January 14, 2021.

(04/049) Detained Retired Military Officers for Declaration…

Following the declaration about Montreux Convention signed by 104 former navy officers, 10 of the signatory officers are detained and 4 of them are called to make official statements on April 5, 2021. It is learned that houses of these 14 officers were searched.

Detained former officers are: Ergun Mengi, Atilla Kezek, Alaettin Sevim, Ramazan Cem Gürdeniz, Nadir Hakan Eraydın, Bülent Olcay, Kadir Sağdıç, Türker Ertürk, Turgay Erdağ and Ali Sadi Ünsal.

Former officers called for statement are: Atilla Kıyat, Engin Baykal, Cemil Şükrü Bozoğlu and Mustafa Özbey.

It is also learned from the news coverage of April 5, 2021 that rights of public housing and protection of the signatory admirals are cancelled.

(04/050) Detained HDP Executive in Urfa…

Müslüm Arslan, HDP Haliliye district co-chair who was detained in Birecik district of Urfa on April 4, 2021 is released after statement procedures at the police on April 5, 2021.

(04/051) Detained HDP Members in Tunceli…

On April 5, 2021, 3 members of HDP (İbrahim Yalvaç, Bülent Süzgün and Murat Duman) are detained in house raids in Ovacık district of Tunceli. The reason of detention is unknown.

(04/052) Detained Iranian Asylum Seekers in Denizli…

It is learned that 4 Iranian asylum seekers (Esmaeil Fattahi, Leili Faraji, Zeinab Sahafi and Mohammad Pourakbari Kermani) are detained on April 5, 2021 in Denizli, on the grounds of ‘disturbing public order’ for they participated in the protest about Istanbul Convention on March 20, 2021.

(04/053) “I Want My Job Back” Protestors on Trial in Ankara…

The trial of the case against 6 people (Acun Karadağ, Nazan Bozkurt, Alev Şahin, Mehmet Dersulu, Mahmut Konuk and Armağan Özbaş), participators of “I Want My Job Back” protests in Ankara to regain their jobs from which they were dismissed by state of emergency decrees, is held at Ankara Heavy Penal Court No 28 on April 5, 2021.

The court released Nazan Bozkurt, decided to continue detention of Alev Şahin and Mehmet Dersulu, and adjourned the trial.

7 people have been detained in house raids in Ankara and Düzce on August 13, 2020 and 6 of them were arrested by the court on the charge of ‘being an illegal organisation’ on August 22, 2020, while 1 person (Gülnaz Bozkurt) was released on judicial control conditions. 2 people (Mahmut Konuk and Armağan Özbaş) were released by the court at the trial held on December 9, 2020, Acun Karadağ was released at the trial held on January 27, 2021.

(04/054) People on Trial in Şırnak…

The trial of the case against 16 people, relatives of 34 people who died due to an air bombardment to Roboski village of Uludere district of Şırnak on December 28, 2011, is held at Şırnak Heavy Penal Court No 2 on April 5, 2021. The indictment demands sentence for 16 people on the charge of ‘making propaganda for an illegal organisation’, for they participated in a commemoration in 2015 for their relatives.

After defence hearings the court adjourned the trial to July 14, 2021.

(04/055) Police Raid to Association’s Office in Diyarbakır…

Rosa Women’s Association office in Diyarbakır is raided by the police through the investigation that 22 people were detained on April 5, 2021. It is learned that the office was searched by the police without presence of association executives.

(04/056) Ban of Access to Web Contents…

It is learned that https://www.jinnews16.xyz, https://www.jinnews17.xyz, https://www.jinnews18.xyz websites of Jinnews agency are banned to access on the grounds of ‘protection of national security and public order’ by Diyarbakır Penal Court of Peace No 1 on April 5, 2021.

It is learned that the video footage published on several websites and shared on social media, which is alleged to show a bribe of 90 million Turkish Liras paid to 21 people in relation to expropriation of Ilısu Dam, is banned to access on the ground of violation of personal rights, by Diyarbakır Penal Court of Peace No 2 on March 30, 2021.

On April 5, 2021, 11 people are detained in house raids in Balıkesir.

(04/058) Covid-19 Pandemic…

The Ministry of Health declared that 193 people died due to Covid-19 pandemic and 1,706 new Covid-19 ill patients were diagnosed on April 5, 2021. It is also declared that the daily number of Covid-19 case is 42,551.

The death toll from Covid-19 in Turkey increased to 32,456 and total number of confirmed ill patients is 3,529,601 as of April 5, 2021.
