It has been reported that journalist Süleyman Topbaş was attacked by a group allegedly affiliated with the Ülkücü movement while walking on the street in Aydın on May 4, 2026.

(04/015) Individuals Detained in Istanbul…

One of the four individuals detained in Istanbul in connection with celebrations held there regarding Amedspor’s promotion to the Super League was arrested on May 4, 2026, by the magistrate’s court to which he was referred, on the charge of “obstructing the movement of a motor vehicle or stopping it while in motion,” while three others—one of whom was placed under house arrest—were released on judicial supervision.

The final hearing in the case against journalist Mehmet Şah Oruç, filed at the Bitlis Heavy Penal Court No. 2, was held on May 5, 2026. The court acquitted the journalist of the charges of “being a member of an organization” and “making organization propaganda.”

(05/017) Trial of a Journalist in Istanbul…

The trial of journalist Sedef Kabaş, who was charged with insulting the President in social media posts, continued on May 5, 2026, at the Istanbul Anatolia Criminal Court of First Instance No. 2. The court adjourned the hearing until October 8, 2026.

(05/018) Journalist Subject to an Investigation…

It was reported that an investigation was launched against journalist Ahmet Güneş on the grounds of his social media posts, and that as part of the investigation, the journalist gave a statement at the Istanbul Provincial Police Department on May 4, 2026.

(05/019) Police Officer on Trial in Diyarbakır…

According to news reports on May 4, 2026, regarding the breaking of lawyer Hakim Marol’s arm in three places after he was subjected to physical violence following an altercation with police officers, a case was filed against a police officer named O.İ. at the 6th Criminal Court of First Instance in Diyarbakır. It was reported that the prosecutor, which presented its final opinion on the merits of the case, requested a reduction in sentence for the defendant police officer on the grounds of “provocation,” requesting a sentence for the crime of “intentional injury,” while requesting Attorney Hakim Marol be sentenced for the crime of “resisting a public official.” The court adjourned the hearing to a later date.

(05/020) Concert Canceled in Kayseri…

According to news reports from May 5, 2026, it was learned that musician Mustafa Keser’s concert scheduled for May 15, 2026, in Kayseri was canceled by the venue’s administrators due to a joke he told at a previous concert. Regarding the joke in question, Justice and Development Party (AKP) Kayseri Deputy Şaban Çopuroğlu and Nationalist Movement Party (MHP) Kayseri Deputy Baki Ersoy had made statements targeting Mustafa Keser.

(05/020) Individuals Detained in Two Separate Investigations Centered in Istanbul…

On May 5, 2026, a total of 25 people were detained in operations conducted across five provinces (Istanbul, Antalya, Samsun, Çanakkale, Bursa) as part of two separate investigations centered in Istanbul, on the grounds that they were members of the organization’s current structure.
