(07/034) Operations and Attacks…

The Ministry of National Defence announced that, 2 soldiers (Serhat Bal, Enes Özgül) died in an attack during the Claw-Lock military operation in the Iraqi Kurdistan Regional Government on July 4, 2022.

It is learned from the news coverage of July 5, 2022 that, 1 militant died in a clash between the Turkish Armed Forces units and HPG militants in rural areas of Beytüşşebap district of Şırnak on July 4, 2022.

(07/035) Prevention of Right to Health in Prison…

It is learned from the news coverage of July 5, 2022 that Necdet Erik, who was arrested on the grounds of the case against him although his two hands and one foot were amputated as a result of electric shock, was not treated in Istanbul Maltepe No. 1 L Type Prison.

(07/036) Police Intervention to a Protest in Şırnak…

The gendarmerie used physical violence to intervene in the people protesting placement of electrometers on power poles in the Dirsekli village of the Cizre district of Şırnak, and detained 20 people on July 4, 2022. It is learned that one person was injured during the intervention. 15 of the detainees were released on the same day, and 5 were released on July 5, 2022.

(07/037) Police Intervention Against “I Want My Job Back” Protest in Ankara…

The police intervened the press declaration which were made within the scope of “I Want My Job Back Protest” in front of Human Rights Monument in Yüksel Street on July 4, 2022 and forced people away from the monument by using physical violence.

The police intervened the press declaration of Şişli Municipality workers in front of the Republican People’s Party (CHP) in Ankara on July 4, 2022 and forced people away from the building by using physical violence.

(07/039) Police Intervention to a Protest in Ankara…

The police intervened the press declaration at the Ulus Square in Ankara on July 5, 2022, regarding arrest of 16 journalists through a Diyarbakır based investigation; and detained 3 journalists (Yıldız Tar, Sibel Yükler and Deniz Nazlım). It is learned that the police prevented journalists from recording the intervention and broke the camera of a journalist. Detained journalists are released after statement procedures on the same day.

(07/040) Detentions for the HDP Congress…

It is learned that 4 people including the Peoples’ Democratic Party (HDP) Youth Assembly members are detained in house raids in Batman on July 4 and 5, 2022, through the investigation that was launched by Ankara Public Prosecutor’s Office on the grounds of the slogans chanted at the 5th Congress of the HDP held in Ankara on July 3, 2022. Detained people are: Muhammet Emin Salman, Vedat Özer, Ali Oğuz and Mehmet Kartal.

It is learned that 14 people were detained across Turkey through this investigation.

(07/041) Co-Mayor on Trial in Diyarbakır…

The first trial of the case against Filiz Buluttekin, HDP co-mayor of Sur district of Diyarbakır who was suspended and replaced by a trustee, is held at Diyarbakır Heavy Penal Court No. 4 on July 5, 2022. The indictment demands sentence for Filiz Buluttekin on the grounds of “being an illegal organisation member”. Filiz Buluttekin joined the trial and made her defence. After defence hearings the court adjourned the trial to September 29, 2022.

Filiz Buluttekin was detained on March 16, 2022 and was arrested by the court on March 18, 2022.

(07/042) Journalist on Trial in Diyarbakır…

The trial of the case against journalist Nurcan Yalçın, for the interviews she made with women before the curfews in Sur district of Diyarbakır between 2015 and 2016, is held at Diyarbakır Heavy Penal Court No 4 on July 5, 2022. The indictment demands sentence for Nurcan Yalçın on the charge of ‘knowingly aiding an illegal organisation’. The court adjourned the trial to September 22, 2022.

(07/043) Union Executives and Members on Trial in Ankara…

The trial of the case against 8 people, including the Health and Social Service Workers’ Union (SES) co-chair several central executive board members, is held at the Ankara 22. Heavy Penal Court on July 4, 2022. The indictment demands sentence for former co-chair Gönül Erden, Bedriye Yorgun, current co-chair Selma Atabey, former central executive board members Belkıs Yurtsever and Fikret Çağlayan, former Ankara Branch executives Rona Temelli, Erdal Turan and Ramazan Taş, on the charges of ‘being an illegal organisation member’ and ‘making propaganda for an illegal organisation’. After defence hearings, the court decided to continue detention of Gönül Erden and to arrest SES co-chair Selma Atabey, and adjourned the trial to October 3, 2022.

Gönül Erden was among those who were detained on May 25, 2021 through the investigation on members and executives of SES, and was released on June 1, 2021. She was detained once again on September 21, 2021 upon the prosecutor’s appeal and was arrested by the court.

(07/044) Curfew in Tatvan…

Bitlis Governorate’s Office made a declaration on July 4, 2022 and lifted the curfew as of 16.00, which was announced for 3 villages of Tatvan district as of 12.00 on July 3, 2022 until a further notice.

The villages under curfew were: Sallıca, Özerkli, Teknecik.

(07/045) Ban of Access to Web Contents…

It is learned that the news report about the former sub-governor of Kadirli district, published on https://sendika.org website is banned to access on the grounds of “violation of personal rights” by Niğde Penal Court of Peace on July 5, 2022.

(07/046) Dismissed Public Prosecutors…

It is learned that Kozan Judge Yasin Kurt and Şebinkarahisar Judge Ahmet Saka were dismissed from the profession on the grounds of the investigations opened against them by the Council of Judges and Prosecutors (HSK) with the decision published in the Official Gazette on July 5, 2022.

(07/047) Detentions and Arrests in Alleged Link to Coup Attempt…

It is learned that 6 people were detained in Ankara on July 5, 2022.
