According to Bianet’s “Male Violence Register,” in May 2025, at least 26 women and 1 child were killed by men across Turkey.
The statement also noted that men committed violence against at least 68 women, harassed 16 women, abused 50 children, and forced 277 women into sex work.

According to news reports on June 7, 2025, an Iranian citizen named Muhammed Şemseddin İsmaili, who was being held in Diyarbakır Type T Prison No. 2, died under suspicious circumstances on May 29, 2029.
The news report stated that the prison administration told the prisoner’s family that the cause of death was suicide. The report also stated that the prisoner’s passport was not handed over to his family, and therefore he was not allowed to be taken to Iran.

İpek Elif Ayman described the human rights violations she had endured during a phone call with her family: “I was transferred to Afyon in a one-square-meter armored cell with my wrists shackled for 7.5 hours, given only a piece of bread. My wrists are bruised from the shackles. I am sleeping on the floor here. My belongings are in a trash bag. I am only allowed a 10-minute visit once a week (…) The fastest way to Afyonkarahisar takes six hours, and the nearest airport is 60 kilometers away. My family are elderly people (…). My security and health rights are being violated, and my right to visit and defend myself is being effectively denied.”

According to news reports published on June 5, 2025, it was learned that the release of Hacı Haykır, an inmate held at Burdur High Security Prison who completed his life sentence on June 6, 2025, was postponed for 8 months by the Prison Administration and Observation Board (CİGK) on the grounds that he did not make a statement of impartiality.

An indictment prepared by the Istanbul Beykoz Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office against 26 individuals, including Beykoz Mayor Alaattin Köseler, was accepted by the Istanbul Anatolia 17th Heavy Penal Court on June 5, 2025. The indictment seeks the prosecution of the 26 individuals for the crimes of “tampering with a tender,” “aggravated fraud,” and “forgery of official documents.” The first hearing of the case will take place on September 2, 2025.
Of the 26 people who were taken into custody, 13 were arrested on March 4, 2025, and Alaattin Köseler was dismissed from his position by the Ministry of Interior.

According to news reports on June 7, 2025, the indictment prepared by the Konya Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office against Anka News Agency reporter Mehmet Oflaz, based on a complaint filed by the then-governor of Konya, was accepted by the Konya Criminal Court of First Instance. The indictment seeks the punishment of Mehmet Oflaz for “violation of confidentiality.” The first hearing of the case will be held on December 1, 2025.

The final hearing of the case against six individuals, including Yadişen Karabulak, the former co-chair of the Peoples’ Democratic Party (HDP) in Van, who were charged with participating in protests against the appointment of trustees in Van in 2019, was held on June 4, 2025, at the Van 7th Criminal Court of First Instance. The court sentenced the six individuals to one year and three months in prison each for “violating the Law on Meetings and Demonstrations No. 2911.”

Following the final hearing of the Kobane Trial on May 16, 2024, an indictment prepared by the Ankara Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office against seven journalists (Damla Kırmızıtaş, Derya Okatan Albayrak, Fatih Polat, Fırat Can Arslan, Handan Ceren Bayar, Hüseyin Hayatsever, and Kaan Can Bircan) was accepted by the Ankara Western 14th Criminal Court of First Instance on June 4, 2025. The indictment seeks to punish the journalists for “unauthorized recording or transmission of audio or video during the investigation and prosecution proceedings.”
