(11/038) Mine Explosion in Bartın…

It is learned that 1 soldier who was injured as a result of the explosion in the coal mine of the Turkish Hard Coal Enterprises in Amasra district of Bartın on October 14, 2022, lost his life in hospital on November 4, 2022. Thus, the number of workers killed in the explosion rose to 42.

The Ministry of National Defence announced that 1 soldier (Lokman Akçağlayan) died in an attack during the Claw-Lock military operation into the Iraqi Kurdistan Regional Government on November 3, 2022.

(11/040) Soldier Died in Ankara…

It is learned from the news coverage of November 4, 2022 that, a soldier named Özkan Demir died due to an accident that occurred during a parachute jump in Gölbaşı district of Ankara.

(11/041) Village Guard Died in Şırnak…

It is learned from the news coverage of November 3, 2022 that, a village guard named Musa Köysu on duty in the military base area in Çalışkan town of Silopi district of Şırnak, was found dead.

(11/042) Meeting Request with Abdullah Öcalan Not Responded…

It is learned that the appeal made on November 3, 2022 to chief public prosecutor’s office in Bursa by the lawyers of PKK leader Abdullah Öcalan, in order to visit him was not responded.

(11/043) Police Intervention to a Protest in Istanbul…

The police intervened in the justice watch for ill prisoners held in front of Çağlayan Courthouse in Istanbul on November 4, 2022 and detained 3 people (Fince Akman, Cemile Karakaş and Kumri Akgül) by using physical violence. Detained people are released on the same day.

(11/044) Detained Lawyer in Izmir…

Lawyer Aryen Turan, a member of the Association of Lawyers for Freedom (ÖHD), is detained on November 3, 2022 through the investigation against her for the expressions regarding the allegations of the use of chemical weapons during the Claw-Lock military operation of the Turkish Armed Forces in the Iraqi Kurdistan Regional Government and for the slogan “Jin jiyan azadi” in her speech at the Bar Association Congress. Aryen Turan is released by the court with a ban on leaving the country and on judicial control conditions on November 4, 2022.

(11/045) The Case Against Human Rights Defender and Other People in Izmir…

The trial of the case against 6 people including human rights defender and medical secretary of the HRFT in Izmir Aytül Uçar and the Progressive Lawyers’ Association (ÇHD) member Erdoğan Akdoğdu is held at Izmir Penal Court of First Instance No. 49 on November 4, 2022. 6 people (Aytül Uçar, Emine Akbaba, İrem Çelikbaş, lawyer Erdoğan Akdoğdu and 2 others) have been detained by the police intervening the protest against the new rector appointed to Boğaziçi University, held in Izmir on June 24, 2021.

The indictment demands sentence for 6 people on the charges of ‘violating the Law on Meetings and Demonstrations’, ‘resisting to prevent public duty’ and ‘insult’.

It is learned that the complainant police officers did not attend the trial. The court decided to hear the witnesses at the next trial, to bring the complainant police officers to the next trial forcibly and adjourn the trial to January 13, 2023.

(11/046) Police Officers on Trial in Istanbul…

The trial of the case against 3 police officers (K. A., N. D. and Y. Ş.) on the grounds of committing violence to journalist Beyza Kural while she was reporting on an incident, is held at Istanbul Penal Court of First Instance No. 35 on November 4, 2022. The indictment demands sentence for the defendant police officers on the charge of ‘violation of freedom of work and labour’. The Constitutional Court decided on Beyza Kural’s individual appeal on February 18, 2021 and ruled that ban of treatment against human dignity, and freedom of expression and freedom of press were violated. The court has also ruled that an investigation should be carried on in order to end the results and 15,000 Turkish Liras should be paid to Beyza Kural as immaterial compensation. The court adjourned the trial to December 1, 2022.

It is learned from the news coverage of November 3, 2022 that the news report about the allegations of the use of chemical weapons during the Claw-Lock military operation of the Turkish Armed Forces in the Iraqi Kurdistan Regional Government, published on https://bianet.org website is banned to access on the grounds of ‘inciting hatred and hostility among public’ and decided to be removed by Ankara Penal Court of Peace No. 2.

It is learned from the news coverage that the news reports about Bilal Erdoğan, published on https://www.cumhuriyet.com.tr, https://www.birgun.net, https://www.aykiri.com.tr websites are banned to access on the grounds of violation of personal rights by Istanbul Anadolu Penal Court of Peace No. 6 on November 3, 2022.

(11/048) Detentions and Arrests in Alleged Link to Coup Attempt…

It is learned that 10 people were detained in an alleged attempt to illegally flee to Greece on November 3, 2022.
