It is learned from the news coverage of February 3, 2022 that, in Paşaköy village of Ipsala district of Edirne, 7 asylum seekers froze to death. The number of asylum seekers found dead in the same area raised to 19.

It is learned from the news coverage of February 3, 2022 that some prisoners in Diyarbakır T Type Prison No 3, are brought by the correction officers to the parts of prison where no cameras are recording, and are subjected to torture and ill-treatment there.
It is learned from the news coverage of February 3, 2022 that, in Afyon T Type Prison the heating systems do not work properly.
It is learned from the news coverage of February 3, 2022 that, in Kars T Type and Mersin Tarsus T Type prisons, the phone call duration which should be 20 minutes is reduced to 10 minutes, and political prisoners are not allowed to have video calls.

The police intervened the press declaration about ill prisoners, held outside of the Forensic Medicine Institution in Istanbul on February 3, 2022 and detained 17 people by using physical violence. 1 person is released for testing positive for Covid-19, it is learned that 16 people are still under custody.

Journalist Nurcan Yalçın is detained in Diyarbakır on February 4, 2022. It is learned that the lawyers were not allowed to see her at Diyarbakır Provincial Security Directorate on the grounds of the 24-hour restriction of meeting a lawyer. The reason of detention is unknown.

On February 3, 2022, 10 people are detained in house raids in Mardin on the grounds of making propaganda for an illegal organisation on social media.

The final trial of the case against Gazete Yolculuk reporter Buse Söğütlü, on the charge of ‘targeting a public officer held an anti-terror duty’ is held at Istanbul Heavy Penal Court No 23 on February 3, 2022. The court acquitted Buse Söğütlü. The court also decided to make a criminal complaint against Buse Söğütlü, on the charge of ‘insulting a public officer’ in her petition to the court board during proceeding.

The trial of the case against journalist Mehmet Şahin, through the investigation on the Democratic Society Congress (DTK) is held at Diyarbakır Heavy Penal Court No 11 on February 3, 2022. The prosecutor declared legal opinion on the case and demanded sentence for Mehmet Şahin on the charge of ‘being an illegal organisation member’. The court adjourned the trial to February 10, 2022.

It is learned that the appeal of 4 Iranian asylum seekers (Esmaeil Fattahi, Leili Faraji, Zeinab Sahafi and Mohammad Pourakbari Kermani) who were to be deported for they have participated in a protest about the Istanbul Convention on March 20, 2021, is rejected by Denizli Administrative Court on February 3, 2022.
It is reported that the court stated the following: “Although it is stated in the lawsuit petition that if they are deported the complainants would be subjected to torture and oppression in Iran due to their political views, the complainants are obliged to obey the rules of the resident country.”

It is learned from the news coverage of February 3, 2022 that, the event of the New Democracy Families’ Union for solidarity with the prisoners, which was to be held at Hasan Ali Yücel Cultural Center in Kartal district of Istanbul on February 5, 2022, is banned by Kartal Sub-Governorate’s Office.

The Ministry of Health declared that 233 people died due to Covid-19 pandemic and the daily number of Covid-19 cases is 107,530 as of February 3, 2022.
The death toll from Covid-19 in Turkey increased to 88,064 and total number of confirmed ill patients is 11,940,695 as of February 3, 2022.
